The Richest Cities In Alaska, Based On The Latest Census Data
Recently, a series of studies have been analyzing and identifying the richest cities in states across the country. Some of the most recent studies have included the wealthiest cities in Indiana, Montana, Oregon, Washington state, among others. It was decided to keep going with this Pacific Northwest trajectory and analyze Alaska next. This study analyzed 111 cities in Alaska with complete data from the Census Bureau, in terms of their median household income, mean (average) household income, median home value, and median property taxes paid per year, to come up with a list of the 15 richest cities in the state. Read on to find out what the richest city in Alaska is, plus the top 15 wealthiest cities in the state overall. In order to compile this list of the richest cities in Alaska, important financial data from the Census Bureau's 2023 American Community Survey was sourced. With these chosen data points, a four-factor scoring system was constructed: You should be aware of a few oddities that the Census Bureau does with its data. For certain factors, the Census sets upper limits on the numbers, so there's no exact value for certain factors. Take for example median household income: The Census Bureau has an upper limit of '$250,000+', and will list exact values only for figures below that. For median home value, the upper limit is '$2,000,000+'. For median property taxes paid, the upper limit is '$10,000+'. For these reasons, the mean household income (which is the same as average household income) dataset is crucial because the Census Bureau has exact figures for it. All four of these metrics were scored, added up, and then ranked by the cities' combined scores. Another aspect of the Census to point out, and is particularly relevant to Alaska, is the Census-designated place — CDP. The Census, more or less, treats CDPs as cities — their terminology is 'place' — and so will this list of the richest cities in Alaska. But if you see cities on this list that you see as, say, neighborhoods, you're not wrong; they just happen to be treated as cities by the Census Bureau. You'll find a table detailing the top 15 richest cities in Alaska and their respective dollar figures for each metric, below: The No. 1 richest city in Alaska in this ranking is Gateway, a CDP a little under 40 miles northeast of Anchorage. There's a little over 2,000 households in this suburb. More than 30% of households in this town earn $200,000 or more. The average household income in Gateway is the highest in the state, at $166,988. The median household income is $137,150 is the third highest. The median home value, as reported by the Census Bureau, is $436,200, which is among the top five. The property taxes paid, with the median being $4,993, is the highest in the state. The No. 2 richest city in Alaska is Chena Ridge, a suburb of Fairbanks, west of the city. Chena Ridge is a census-designated place and actually contains the ghost town of Chena, which used to be as important as Fairbanks back in the early 1900s. This town is of comparable size to the No. 1 richest city on this list, containing just under 2,300 total households. Chena Ridge's median household income is the highest in the state, at $140,722. The mean household income is $158,967. The occupational breakdown for Chena Ridge makes sense for a high-income town, with Management Occupations accounting for a fifth of the workforce, according to Data USA. The median home value here is $411,600, with corresponding property taxes being amongst the highest, with a median paid of $4,757. The third richest city in Alaska is Cooper Landing, which is due south of Anchorage, situated on Kenai Lake. This town doesn't have a large population. There are only 114 total households in Cooper Landing. The median household income here is just under the median income of Chena Ridge, at $140,500 versus $140,500. The average household income in Cooper Landing is actually less than the median, which is unusual, at $134,467. The median home value reported by the Census is $404,500. The median property taxes paid here is comparatively cheap among the richest cities, costing $3,313 per household a year.

Read on to find out what the richest city in Louisiana is, plus the top 15 wealthiest cities in the state overall. In order to assemble this list of the richest cities in Louisiana, key financial data was sourced from the Census Bureau's 2023 American Community Survey. Equipped with these datasets, a four-factor scoring system was built to help identify the wealthiest cities in Louisiana: Median household income Mean (average) household income Median home value Median property taxes paid When it comes to Census data, keep these things in mind: For certain factors, the Census numbers have upper limits. For example, for median household income, the Census Bureau has an upper limit of '$250,000+'. Another thing to keep in mind is that what are termed cities here are categorized as 'places', census-designated places, by the Census Bureau. Thus, some cities on this list may be considered unincorporated communities, but are treated as individual cities by the Census Bureau's designation of them as a place. That might explain why the median home value is comparatively low for a city on this list, at $295,900. The median property taxes paid here amount to $1,257 per year. But incomes are high here and higher than most other cities on this top 20 list. The median household income is $149,107. The average household income is $152,444. The 20 Richest Places In Indiana, New Census Data Shows
Many of the top wealthiest cities in Indiana lie in the radius of suburbs around Indianapolis. Where other states in the Midwest have struggled with population decline, Indiana has held strong. Back in 2000, the population of Indiana was a little over a million. By 2024, the population had grown by 14%, reaching 6.92 million. As part of an ongoing series of analyses, states have been examined using the latest Census Bureau data to determine which the richest cities in the state are. For this study, the focus is Indiana. This study analyzed 976 cities — what the Census Bureau designates as 'places' — in Indiana that had complete data from the Census Bureau, in terms of their median household income, mean (average) household income, median home value, and median property taxes paid per year, to come up with a list of the 25 richest cities in the state. Read on to find out what the richest city in Indiana is, plus the top 20 wealthiest cities in the state overall. In order to compile this list of the richest cities in Indiana, we sourced key financial data from the Census Bureau's 2023 American Community Survey. Wielding these datasets, we put together a four-factor scoring system to help identify the wealthiest cities in Indiana: When analyzing the data, it is important to note that Census figures have upper limits, so there's no exact value for certain factors. For example, for median household income, the Census Bureau has an upper limit of '$250,000+'. For median home value, the upper limit is '$2,000,000+'. For median property taxes paid, the upper limit is '$10,000+'. For these reasons, the mean household income (which is the same as average household income) dataset is particularly useful. Since the Census Bureau has exact figures for it, it's an even more precise barometer of wealth. All four of these metrics were scored, added up, and then ranked by the cities' combined scores. Another aspect of the Census to point out is the Census-designated place — CDP. The Census, more or less, treats CDPs as cities — their terminology is 'place' — and so will this list of the richest cities in Indiana. So, if you see cities on this list that you see as neighborhoods or retirement communities, you're not wrong. These places happen to be treated as cities by the Census Bureau. Below, you'll find a table detailing the top 20 richest cities in Indiana and their respective dollar figures for each metric, below: The No. 1 richest city in Indiana in our ranking is Crows Nest, a town within Washington Township, due north of Indianapolis. Crows Nest is a small place, with only 28 households. This town has an occupational mix that's common to many suburbs. According to Data USA, the top three industries by employment are Professional, Scientific, & Technical Services (39.5% of the workforce), Accommodation & Food Services (18.4% of the workforce), and Health Care & Social Assistance (13.2% of the workforce). Incomes in Crows Nest are very high. The median household income here is $245,000, around triple the state median of $81,702. The average household income is even higher, at $744,021. The median home value exceeds $2 million. And property taxes are so high, the median amount paid per household is over $10,000. The No. 2 richest place is just north of the No. 1 city, and it's name is North Crows Nest, appropriately. They are almost exactly the same size, with North Crows Nest having 27 households to Crows Nest's 28 households. The median household income in North Crows Nest is above $250,000. Its average household income isn't as high as in Crows Nest: $546,926 in North Crows Nest versus $744,021 for Crows Nest. The median home value reported by the Census is well over $1.5 million. And just like in Crows Nest, the median property taxes by household is in excess of $10,000. The third richest place in Indiana is Williams Creek. This place is also due north of Indianapolis and lies in the same township, Washington Township. This town is larger than No. 1 and No. 2, being home to 164 households. The employment breakdown is comparable to Crows Nest. The top three industries include Professional, Scientific, & Technical Services (24.2% of the workforce), Health Care & Social Assistance (15.2% of the workforce), and Retail Trade (11.1% of the workforce). The median household income in Williams Creek is $218,750, while the mean household income is $372,541. Property taxes are also substantial here, costing households a median of over $10,000 per year. The median home value is reported as $1.212 million.

The Richest Places In Nevada, Latest Census Data Shows
A series of recent studies analyzed and identified the richest cities in a number of states that lie in the geographic Mountain division, such as Colorado, Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming. For this article, the analysis will be for Nevada's richest cities. This study analyzed 134 cities in Nevada with complete data from the Census Bureau, in terms of their median household income, mean (average) household income, median home value, and median property taxes paid per year, to come up with a list of the 15 richest places in the state. Read on to find out what the richest city in Nevada is, plus the top 15 wealthiest cities in the state overall. In order to compile this list of the richest cities in Nevada, we sourced key financial data from the Census Bureau's 2023 American Community Survey. Harnessing these datasets, we put together a scoring system based on four factors to help identify the wealthiest cities in Nevada: The Census Bureau does some interesting things with its data. For certain factors, the Census numbers have upper limits, so there's no exact value for certain factors. When it comes to median household income, the Census Bureau has an upper limit of '$250,000+'. For median home value, the upper limit is '$2,000,000+'. For median property taxes paid, the upper limit is '$10,000+'. Thus, for these reasons, the mean household income (which is the same as average household income) dataset is crucial because the Census Bureau has exact figures for it. All four of these metrics were scored, added up, and then ranked by the cities' combined scores. Census data also categorizes geographies in a particular way that the average person might not conceive of. And it is particularly relevant to Nevada. The Census has a geographic unit called census-designated places, CDPs, which it essentially treats as what people would think of as cities. So, if you see places here listed as cities, it's because they are CDPs and the Census Bureau more or less treats them as cities or towns. You'll find a table detailing the top 15 richest cities in Nevada and their respective dollar figures for each metric, below: The No. 1 richest city in Nevada in this ranking is Crystal Bay, a very small town of only 80 households, on the northern shore of Lake Tahoe. It borders the state line with California. It sits on Crystal Bay across from Incline Village, another city on this list of wealthiest places in Nevada. The median household income in Crystal Bay is over $250,000. The average household income is an incredible $673,626. Not surprisingly, its median home value is in excess of $2 million, which is the upper limit the Census Bureau tracks. And the median property taxes paid by households is over $10,000 a year. The second wealthiest place in Nevada is another Lake Tahoe town, Glenbrook. This town is on the east coast of Lake Tahoe, south-southeast of Crystal Bay. The median household income is $223,942, while the average household income is north of $400,000. Like Crystal Bay, the median home value here is over $2 million. The median property taxes paid per household is over $10,000. Nearly 57% of households earn $200,000 or more a year. The No. 3 richest city in Nevada is Round Hill Village, another town along Lake Tahoe. This place is bigger than the No. 1 and No. 2 cities, being home to 380 households. This town is down in the southeast corner of Lake Tahoe, right near the California border and the aptly named city of Stateline. The median household income is $189,038, while the average household income is $279,816. The median home value here is almost $1.216 million and individual listings can be well over this figure. The median property taxes paid, however, aren't as bad as in the No. 1 and No. 2 cities, at $3,868 per year. The vast majority of the top 15 richest cities in Nevada are located in the vicinity of Lake Tahoe, with one or two in the Las Vegas metro area. You can see in the income figures, however, the imbalance in wealth generated by resort towns in the Take Tahoe area. The home values, even more so, convey the wealth disparity, with many places having median home values well beyond what the typical household income can sustain.

Here Are The Richest Places In Delaware, Based On The Latest Census Data
Delaware is a state known for its lack of sales tax, its business-friendly laws (which is why so many corporate headquarters are located there), and its beach resorts. Delaware has gotten wealthier over the years, and its incomes now exceed the United States overall figures. Whereas the median household income for the United States overall is $78,538 — according to the latest data from the Census Bureau's 2023 American Community Survey — the median in Delaware is $82,855. Past studies analyzed and identified the richest cities in several of Delaware's neighboring states, including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. For this article, it's now Delaware's turn. This study analyzed 79 cities in Delaware with complete data from the Census Bureau, in terms of their median household income, mean (average) household income, median home value, and median property taxes paid per year, to come up with a list of the 20 richest cities in the state. Read on to find out what the richest city in Delaware is, plus the top 20 wealthiest cities in the state overall. This list of the richest cities in Delaware was compiled based on key financial data sourced from the Census Bureau's 2023 American Community Survey. Harnessing these datasets, the analysis put together a scoring system based on four factors to help identify the wealthiest cities in Delaware: The Census Bureau has some quirks with its data that must be noted. For certain factors, the Census numbers have upper limits, so there's no exact value for certain factors. For example, for median household income, the Census Bureau has an upper limit of '$250,000+'. For median home value, the upper limit is '$2,000,000+'. For median property taxes paid, the upper limit is '$10,000+'. For these reasons, the mean household income (which is the same as average household income) dataset is crucial because the Census Bureau has exact figures for it. All four of these metrics were scored, added up, and then ranked by the cities' combined scores. Another aspect of the Census to point out, and is particularly relevant to Delaware and New England in general, is the Census-designated place — CDP. The Census, more or less, treats CDPs as cities — their terminology is 'place' — and so will this list of the richest cities in Delaware. But if you see cities on this list that you see as, say, neighborhoods, you're not wrong; they just happen to be treated as cities by the Census Bureau. You'll find a table detailing the top 15 richest cities in Delaware and their respective dollar figures for each metric, below: The No. 1 richest city in Delaware in this ranking is Greenville, a bedroom community and suburb of Wilmington. The top industries by employment, according to Data USA, are Finance & Insurance (17.6% of the workforce), Manufacturing (14%), and Health Care & Social Assistance (13.3%). The second wealthiest place in Delaware is a beach community, Henlopen Acres. This place is located just north of the morn well-known beach town of Rehoboth Beach. This is a small community, with only 106 total households.
