Rare 'pollen bomb' to strike Edinburgh as temperatures set to hit 27C
Edinburgh locals with seasonal allergies are set to face a challenging weekend - as the Met Office predicts a "very high" pollen count. Those with hay fever are no strangers to being forced indoors and closing their windows to avoid airborne pollen. The city has been enjoying hot and humid weather over the past few days with temperatures peaking at 27C on Saturday, but with the hot temperatures comes a high pollen count that will likely force those with hay fever inside. Temperatures will cool slightly into the evening on Saturday with the heat set to finally break on Sunday. Pleasant 15C lows are expected in the early hours of Sunday, rising to a peak of 20C by 1pm. According to the Met Office, hay fever is the most common name for pollen allergy and it is most commonly caused by grass pollens, although other pollens can also trigger the symptoms Hay fever symptoms include frequent sneezing, a runny or blocked nose, itchy eyes and an itchy throat, mouth, nose and ears. Sufferers may also experience the loss of sense of smell, facial pain, sweating and headaches - although these symptoms are less common. A warm day from the start and becoming hot by the afternoon especially for the Borders. Maximum temperature 29 °C." Forecasters predict for Saturday: "Largely dry and bright with the odd thundery shower on Saturday and remaining very warm or hot. Turning cooler during Sunday and Monday with sunshine and showers, heavy on Sunday." You can read the full forecast here.

Man on bicycle killed after crashing into pedestrian in Central Park: NYPD
CENTRAL PARK, Manhattan (PIX11) – A man riding a bicycle was killed after he collided with a pedestrian in Central Park on Wednesday, according to the NYPD. It happened near East 97th Street and East Drive around 5:45 p.m. Police said the 43-year-old bicyclist was traveling north on East Drive when he crashed into a 41-year-old man crossing in the crosswalk at East 97th Street. More Local News The bicyclist flipped off the back and hit his head on the curb, according to authorities. Police said he was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and later died. It's unclear who had the right of way, according to authorities. An investigation into the crash is ongoing. Tracking exiting t-storms, late week heat
A risk for spotty garden variety thunderstorm activity will continue across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas Wednesday evening. Partly cloudy skies and 30% to 40% rain chances will remain in place through sunset, with clearing skies late and low temperatures falling into the mid to lower 60s. Abundant sunshine will return Thursday, along with toasty afternoon temperatures, as highs reach the upper 80s to low 90s. Mostly sunny skies, heat, and humidity will dominate across the region through the weekend. Afternoon highs will reach well into the mid 90s for several days in a row, with heat indices likely reaching the triple digits through the start of next week.
