This strategic move has replaced three separate EHRs, offering care coordination across the organisation's ambulatory and acute care facilities. Willis Knighton Health Information Technology senior vice president and chief information officer Mark Galea said: 'One of the concerns we've heard from patients is that they have to repeat information when visiting different providers. 'This integration responds to that concern and supports access to the electronic records for all Willis Knighton locations and providers.' Patients within the Willis Knighton network are now experiencing the benefits of a shared EHR platform, which eliminates the need for redundant tests and provides access to a single patient portal for viewing test results and visit notes. Clinicians also gain from having all patient data consolidated in one location, lessening administrative tasks and saving time. In the process of this implementation, the clinics have worked together to standardise order sets and documentation templates. This collaboration has facilitated a swift deployment of the system across all clinic locations. The MEDITECH Expanse platform also offers the flexibility to tailor workflows, meeting the specific requirements of various medical specialists. I feel saddened by the news about BSix college in Hackney, east London, losing its A-levels (Staff and students fight loss of A-levels at London college helping disadvantaged learners, 10 June). I am for ever grateful to have been a student at BSix. I came in the UK as an unaccompanied minor aged 16 and English isn't my first language. I didn't understand a word of it. A friend of mine helped me get into BSix to learn English in January 2007 – the course was called English as a second language (Esol) then. The staff really supported me until I was confident enough to read, write, listen to and speak English. After a year, I was given the opportunity to do my BTec first diploma in sciences, equivalent to GCSEs, and GCSE English and maths. Afterwards, I did my BTec national diploma in sciences for two years, equivalent to AS and A2, which enabled me to go to university to study biomedical sciences and then further my studies in adult nursing. I am currently working as a theatre nurse in Eastbourne district general hospital. I would say that BSix gives great opportunities to young people from different backgrounds to get basic requirements to further their studies in the UK. It hugely contributes to our integration into British society and we later contribute positively towards the development of the NikoulareEastbourne, East Sussex

Muscat: The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation on Wednesday organised the first annual forum to enhance integration between academic and industrial sectors. The forum, held in Muscat, seeks to open up vistas for constructive dialogue and cooperation, in addition to exchanging expertise between the two sectors. The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. The forum saw the signing of 18 agreements to promote community engagement in boosting education—with the prime objective of consolidating partnerships between higher education institutions and society. The agreements aim to foster a culture of endowment in support of education. They focus on raising awareness among students and members of teaching and administrative departments. They also deal with participation in events and activities organized by educational institutions. In addition, the forum included visual presentations made by private higher education institutions, public and private sector institutions and 'Siraj Education Endowment Foundation'. Top Beijing official Xia Baolong arrives in Hong Kong for 5-day visit

A senior Beijing official overseeing Hong Kong affairs has arrived in the city for a five-day visit in which he is expected to meet representatives from the education and business sectors before giving a keynote speech on national security. Xia Baolong, director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office, arrived in the city at around 5pm on Wednesday via the Shenzhen Bay border crossing, with sources saying he will attend a dinner hosted by Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu in the evening. Xia's trip, which follows a seven-day inspection visit he made to Hong Kong in February last year, is mostly to attend a key forum on Saturday marking the fifth anniversary of the imposition of the national security law, according to insiders. A source said the trip would help the central government understand Hong Kong's overall situation and propose an optimal plan for the city's better integration with mainland China's next-stage development. Beijing is finalising its 15th five-year plan for national economic and social development. In May, President Xi Jinping called for the public's feedback on the nation's 2026-30 national economic development plan, with an emphasis on science and modernisation. In the past few months, Xi and other top Chinese leaders have been travelling around the country to lay the groundwork for the new blueprint and a coming party plenum. A comprehensive catalogue of quantifiable socio-economic goals will be made public in March.
