Summer fun meets creative learning at the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia
Summer adventures don't have to mean a break from learning. Just ask the kids at the Please Touch Museum, where curiosity is taking center stage. "The Questioneers: Read. Question. Think. PLAY!" is a new traveling exhibit that's turning playtime into a launchpad for imagination. Based on the beloved children's book series by Andrea Beaty and David Roberts, the exhibit brings characters like Ada Twist, a scientist, and Rosie Revere, an engineer, to life in hands-on, interactive displays. Three-year-old Liam is already diving into engineering basics—one building block at a time. Liam's dad, Michael Weaver, said, "It's very sensory friendly and we love that." The exhibit invites kids to step into the shoes of five inspiring characters: be a scientist like Ada, an architect like Iggy, an engineer like Rosie, an artist like Aaron, or lead a movement like Sofia. Amirah Ali, Senior Manager of Humanities Programs at the museum, said, "They really get to go through the exhibit using each character as a focal point." CBS Philadelphia For parents like Rachel Frost, the connection between the books and the exhibit is a hit. "She was very excited to see the figures and illustrations which we love." Beyond STEM skills, The Questioneers encourages kids to express themselves through art, storytelling, and role play. "Anything where children are able to learn through play is super beneficial," said Ali. "And when it reflects the world that they actually live in, those are always going to be really big home runs for us when it comes to ways kids learn through play." The exhibit runs through Aug. 27. The Please Touch Museum is also offering three free admission days this summer through their Ready-Set-School program. Ready to question, think, and play your way through summer? The Questioneers are waiting.

Cool LEGO Recreation of PEE-WEE'S PLAYHOUSE — GeekTyrant
Check out this really cool LEGO recreation of Pee-wee's Playhouse, which was created by Stephen Orlando and submitted to LEGO Ideas. It features all all his friends, and If it gets enough support from the community, LEGO might turn it into a real set. 'Let me introduce Pee-Wee's Playhouse, a LEGO recreation of the iconic Saturday-morning kid's show with oodles of characters, references and details. 'The Playhouse includes three iconic rooms: Living Room, Bedroom & Kitchen. Hinge points allow the Playhouse to fold out offering more room for play and revealing extra details and hidden characters (Floory!).' Orland went on to share that his childhood inspired this LEGO build. The late-great Paul Reubens' Pee-Wee, much like LEGO, offers a world limited only by our imaginations, making it a perfect mash-up. Some of my most formative and vivid childhood memories are sitting down on my living room floor on a Saturday morning with my bin of LEGO and Pee-Wee's Playhouse on TV. Check out the images below and let us know what you think!

New Trailer For The Imagination-Fueled Fantasy Film SKETCH - "Unleash Your Inner Monsters" — GeekTyrant
Angel Studios has released a great new trailer for its imagination-fueled dark fantsy family film Sketch . The movie has been getting a lot of great and positive reviews, and it's on that I've very mush looking forward to watching. I enjoy watch these kinds of adventure films that lean into the imagination of kids and monsters. As I'm watching the trailer, I'm reminded of the films that I loved as a kid, and this movie looks like it captures the spirit and energy of those movies. In the film, 'When 10-year-old Amber's (Bianca Belle) comically dark drawings start coming to life, her small town descends into chaos. Now, her family must face Amber's living nightmares head-on before her creations end up destroying everything.' The movie is described as 'Dazzlingly inventive.. take[s] the wide-eyed wonder of a Steven Spielberg, the impish mischief of a Joe Dante, plus the vibrant visuals of prime Pixar and somehow blitz[s] them together in a Magic Bullet blender' The movie comes from filmmaker Seth Worley making his feature directorial debut, and it stars Tony Hale, D'Arcy Carden, Kue Lawrence, Kalon Cox, Jaxen Kenner, Genesis Rose Brown, and introducing Bianca Belle as Amber. Angel Studios will release Sketch in theaters starting on August 6th, 2025.

Two New Picture Books About the Transformative Power of Language
'On a mild autumn morning, Oscar was doing his daily digging when he discovered a magnificent wooden chest.' Does this opening sentence raise questions in the mind of an adult reader? It certainly does. But even if you pause briefly to ask why Oscar digs every day — and whether child protective services should be alerted — the attractive picture book A CHEST FULL OF WORDS (NorthSouth, 48 pp., $19.95, ages 4 to 8), by the frequent collaborators Rebecca Gugger and Simon Röthlisberger, soon sweeps you along. Because what Oscar finds in this long-buried chest is a tangled treasure of words — and they are, intriguingly, quite fancy words at that, such as bulbous, docile and featherlight. Wow. As Oscar begins to apply these adjectives to objects in his vicinity, the reader stops asking pitiful irrelevant questions and falls into the habit of pointing at an illustration and matching it to a single delightfully descriptive word. 'That lighthouse is fuchsia,' you say proudly. 'And that bear is winged.' If I were to apply adjectives to Oscar, I would describe him as practical and perhaps worryingly-adept-with-tools, but also, crucially, teachable. When he opens the chest, he is at first disappointed, as he had hoped for something cool, like a slice of pink cake or a diamond. Attempting to make the best of the situation, he extracts the word fluorescent and tries playing with it, but it's no fun at all, so he airily tosses it into a shrub and walks off.
