Cloudy skies, a 70 per cent chance of showers and a risk of thunderstorms are expected for tonight. On Sunday, the capital will see a high of 31 C, which feels like 42 with humidex. It will be mainly cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers and a risk of a thunderstorm in the afternoon. A low of 21 C, cloudy periods and a 30 per cent chance of showers are anticipated overnight. Monday will see a high of 35 C and a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of showers. A low of 23 C and clear skies are anticipated for the night. The average temperatures for this time of year are a high of 25 C and a low of 14 C.

UAE temperatures soar to 51.6°C in May, breaking records ahead of peak summer

The temperature was recorded at Sweihan in Al Ain. The United Arab Emirates recorded on Friday its highest temperature for May since it began documenting them in 2003 at a sweltering 50.4 degrees Celsius, according to the National Center of Meteorology. "The highest temperature recorded over the country today is 50.4°C in Al Shawamekh (Abu Dhabi) at 14:30 UAE Local time," it said in a post on X. AFP

The United Arab Emirates recorded on Friday its highest temperature for May since it began documenting them in 2003 at a sweltering 50.4 degrees Celsius, according to the National Center of Meteorology. 'The highest temperature recorded over the country today is 50.4°C in Al Shawamekh (Abu Dhabi) at 14:30 UAE Local time,' it said in a post on X. 'This is the highest temperature we've ever recorded (for May) since we started keeping records in 2003,' the NCM told AFP. That topped the highest temperature of 50.2 Celsius recorded in May 2009, said the center. The UAE is one of the world's top oil exporters, but has also invested heavily in renewable energy.
