Boyfriend Balks at Girlfriend's Request He Pay for Half of a New MacBook After Spilling a Drink and Ruining Hers
During a night of gaming and vodka, a man accidentally spills a shot on his girlfriend's MacBook Pro, causing irreparable damage She asks him to cover half the cost of a replacement after Apple says fixing it would cost $2,600 He refuses, arguing she was wrong to recycle the laptop and that splitting the cost is 'ridiculous'A woman seeks advice from Reddit after a night of gaming and vodka shots with her boyfriend ends in the accidental destruction of her beloved MacBook Pro. The couple, who have been together for over four years and have been living together for more than three, find themselves at odds over what counts as fair compensation after the mishap. She explains that she bought her MacBook Pro in 2020 while still in university, upgrading the processor to an i7 with the hope that 'this could potentially allow me to have this laptop for longer without replacing it.' After graduation, she uses the laptop less frequently but still values having it around for personal use. On a recent Friday night, her boyfriend asked to use her laptop to track his progress in a video game, saying it would be easier than using his phone. 'I said sure and he set it up on the coffee table in front of him,' she recalls in her post, setting the stage for what happens next. The couple was drinking together when her boyfriend poured vodka shots and placed his in front of the laptop. 'He went to go check something off the list on my laptop and he accidentally knocked the entire shot onto my laptop,' she writes, describing how they scrambled to dry it off with paper towels, but the liquid had already seeped inside. With the damage done, she decided to deal with the situation the next day. 'The next day, I (mind you he didn't come with me for any of this) drove to my nearest Best Buy (25 minutes away) to see if they could fix it,' she shares, adding that Best Buy referred her to an Apple Store nearly an hour further away. She left the laptop with Apple, which estimated repairs at nearly $1,000. She says her boyfriend "initially agreed to pay" for the repairs, but things took a turn when Apple later called to say the damage was more extensive than they thought. 'Apple calls me back and says the liquid ended up seeping through to the other side and the damage was pretty extensive ($2,600 to fix) and said it's not worth fixing,' she recalls, realizing that fixing the laptop would cost more than buying a new one. Her boyfriend, feeling guilty, tried to suggest salvaging parts from the ruined device. 'He was trying to suggest I bring the laptop back so he could try and salvage some parts from it to sell,' she writes, but she decided against it after Apple staff told her that the laptop is 'pretty much toasted' after sitting in liquid for days. She ultimately let Apple recycle the laptop, believing there was nothing left to save. When she brought up the subject of compensation, she tried to be fair, saying, 'I know my MacBook was almost 5 years old and not worth the $2,500 I initially paid, so I thought half (around $1,500 for a Pro) would be fair.' Her boyfriend disagreed, insisting that recycling the laptop was not logical and that he could have made some money back by selling parts. 'He said I wasn't being logical when I recycled the laptop and he could have salvaged it for parts to sell and make some money and paying me for half of a new MacBook is ridiculous,' she shares, expressing her frustration at his response. She stands firm that it was her decision to make regarding the fate of her laptop. 'I told him it was my decision to make and I decided to recycle it which he thought I chose deliberately so he couldn't take it apart to make some money back,' she says, baffled by his reaction and choosing to walk away from the heated conversation. Now, she's turned to Reddit to ask if she is being unreasonable or if her boyfriend is simply being stubborn. 'Am I asking for too much or is my boyfriend just being annoying and stubborn?' she wonders, summing up the dilemma that has left the couple at odds. Read the original article on People

Man Excludes 'Dramatic' Girlfriend from Promotion Dinner. Now She Is 'Livid'
A man took to the internet to ask if he did the right thing by excluding his girlfriend from his celebration She told him she was upset he didn't include her, and she accused the man of "hiding her," saying he "embarrassed her" Many took his side by agreeing she should be able to celebrate his achievements without making it about herselfA man caused more drama than he intended after he intentionally didn't invite his girlfriend to his promotion dinner. In a recent Reddit post, the 35-year-old admitted that he didn't include his partner of two years in the celebration because he knew she would make it about herself. The man insisted that he "loves" his "smart" and "driven" girlfriend, but noted that she can be "dramatic," especially "when the attention isn't on her." The man explained that he was recently promoted to partner at his firm, a "huge" accomplishment he has "worked toward for almost a decade." His colleagues threw a "small" dinner for him to celebrate, but he left his 34-year-old girlfriend off the list. "Why? Because last time I got recognition at work, she spent the entire dinner talking about how she once turned down a big promotion to 'prioritize her mental health,'" he shared. "She hijacked every compliment meant for me." Due to her past behavior, he decided to attend the event "alone" and told his girlfriend it was "just coworkers." When she found a tagged photo and discovered the truth, she became "livid." She accused the man of "hiding her," saying he "embarrassed her" and that he made her feel like "a trophy I keep in the closet." When he tried to explain his reasoning, she called him "shallow and insecure." "I feel awful," he wrote. "But I also feel like I deserved a night where I didn't have to babysit someone else's ego. Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. Reddit users were quick to share their take on the situation, with many questioning why the man was with the woman in the first place, especially if he felt he couldn't celebrate his achievements with her. "Worked in couples counseling for years - this behavior doesn't magically improve with time or marriage," one user wrote. "You're basically telling us you can't even enjoy your own professional milestone without walking on eggshells. Think hard about that." Another commenter added, "You're at a place in your relationship where you don't feel you can be honest with her, don't trust her, and don't think she will put your interests first when it is important to do so. The fact you decided to exclude her this time tells me some part of you is already aware this relationship is over. This is not a happy place for you. I would be unhappy too. Time to end it." Santa Fe police: Man assaulted girlfriend, took car at gas station
A Texas man faces felony charges after, police say, he battered his girlfriend and drove off in her car outside a gas station in Santa Fe. Santa Fe police arrested Christopher Kenney, 44, at a house in Eldorado Thursday night, and he was booked into Santa Fe County jail. Officers were dispatched at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday to a Chevron gas station on St. Francis Drive in response to a report of a robbery — a woman told police Kenney had taken off with her car, with her two dogs and purse inside. The woman told police she had picked up Kenney from Austin, Texas, in recent days, and the two had arrived Wednesday at his parents' home in Eldorado, according to a probable cause statement filed by police. The two were sitting in her car outside the gas station Thursday when they began to argue about Kenney's drinking and she told him to get out of the car, she told officers. The woman said Kenney then grabbed her hair and dragged her across the center console of the car and out of the passenger-side door, police wrote. She said he then jumped into the driver's seat and sped off in her car, "nearly running her over as she moved out of the way to avoid being struck," the statement says. Officers found the woman's vehicle — and Kenney — at his parents' house in Eldorado, police wrote. Kenney told police the two had argued in the car outside the gas station, but that his girlfriend had gotten out of the car and he jumped into the driver's seat and drove off. Police noted, however, the woman had "large areas of redness and scratches deep enough to draw blood" as well as "a large chunk of hair hanging from one of [the woman's] bracelets." The woman told police she did not want to pursue charges against Kenney, but officers determined "an arrest was both reasonable and necessary in order to protect her from further domestic abuse," police wrote in the statement. Kenney faces charges of robbery, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, battery against a household member, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and receiving or transferring stolen motor vehicles, according to a criminal complaint filed Friday in Santa Fe County Magistrate Court. Kenney was scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Friday, but prosecutors requested for the hearing to be delayed to determine whether to request for Kenney to be held in jail pending a trial on the charges.

Watch the shocking moment an Aussie is allegedly caught with drugs during a routine Bali traffic stop
An Australian man has been arrested after a suspicious looking bag fell out of his pocket in front of Bali police after a night of partying. Officers stopped Philip James Nelson, 33, on Wednesday at 6pm local time for driving a scooter without a helmet in North Kuta, a popular tourist spot in the Badung region. Footage has shown the moment a small plastic bag with something white inside fell on the road as Nelson was told to raise his hands by police. The officers' demeanour changed when they spotted the bag and one appeared to lock Nelson's head under his arm in Radar Bali's video, which was published on Friday. Fours officers then crowded around the Australian to detain him as he can be heard saying: 'It's Panadol.' An officer shakes his head and can be heard saying 'cocaine'. But Nelson responded: 'Test it, it's Panadol.' The officer picked up the bag of alleged cocaine from the road after taking another bag out of Nelson's hands. Nelson then appeared to recognise one officer who he spoke to briefly before he was led away. A young woman, who has not been identified but is believed to be a foreign national and Nelson's girlfriend, was also detained by police. If found guilty, Nelson could face a maximum 12 years prison term. Head of Badung Police's narcotics unit Nyoman Sudarma confirmed officers stopped the pair while they were riding an Nmax motorbike in the seaside village of Perenan. Officers then carried out a routine body and clothing search of Nelson. '(Police) found, in Mr Nelson's left hand - previously removed from the left pocket of his pants - two plastic clip packages containing a white powder suspected to be cocaine,' Sudarma said. Bali officers allege he was caught with 0.85g of cocaine and 0.53g of MDMA. Nelson is understood to be staying at a villa in the village and, an hour after his arrest, narcotics officers searched the property but found nothing related to drugs. Mr Sudarma has alleged the Australian admitted he obtained the suspected drugs at a party and was planning to use the cocaine himself at the villa he is staying in. He also alleged that Nelson admitted he did not have 'authorisation' from authorities to possess the suspected cocaine. Both Nelson and the woman were taken to Badung Police Station for further investigation. A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade told Daily Mail Australia they werre aware that an Australian had been detained in Bali. 'We are in contact with local authorities and stand ready to provide consular assistance, to any Australian citizen, should they request it,' they said. He is the third Australian man to be arrested in as many weeks on suspicion of drug-related offending. On May 29, Queensland man Puridas Robinson, 40, was detained after police allegedly found a stash of marijuana at his West Denpasar villa. Like MDMA and cocaine, marijuana is a Class 1 drug in Indonesia. His arrest comes after the arrest of Harsh Vardhan Nowlakha at Bali Airport in May when Nowlakha arrived from Los Angeles allegedly carrying 600g of marijuana. Nowlakha allegedly told investigators that he brought the drugs for Robinson and police followed him to Robinson's address where they searched the property. Robinson denied that he ordered the drugs. The head of the drugs eradication unit at Bali Branch National Narcotic Agency, Senior Commander Made Sinar Subawa, told Daily Mail Australia Robinson would not be charged with trafficking. Instead, he may be charged with drug possession which carries a maximum 12 year prison term. It followed the arrest of fellow Aussie Lamar Ahchee, 43, on May 22 after allegedly smuggling 1.8kg of cocaine from the UK while living in Bali. Ahchee has not yet been charged by officials but could face a potential death sentence if convicted of smuggling the cocaine worth an estimated $1.1million. Following his arrest, Ahchee's family descended on the island where his sister Stephanie issued a message of thanks to Balinese officials. 'Our family wishes to extend our sincere appreciation to the Indonesian authorities for their professionalism and impartiality in handling Lamar's case,' she said. 'We are grateful for the fair and respectful treatment he has received from law enforcement and legal officials throughout this process.' Ahchee's lawyer Edward Pangkahila told reporters his client firmly denied dealing drugs, but conceded he was a 'drug addict'. 'Lamar has been set up by someone called "Boss",' Mr Pangkahila said, referencing a stranger in England who allegedly sent the Lindt boxes. 'He was told to collect the package, but he actually didn't know what the package was. He thought it was a normal package.'
