Fans Have Spotted Another 'Dirty' Foul On Caitlin Clark

Fans Have Spotted Another 'Dirty' Foul On Caitlin Clark originally appeared on The Spun. It's been several days since the controversial fouling incident at the tail end of the WNBA game between Caitlin Clark's Indiana Fever and the Connecticut Sun. As more and more details have been parsed, some fans have noted another dirty foul that went against Clark that they're getting upset about. Advertisement The one everyone's talking about that started the whole controversy was committed by Marina Mabrey in the waning minutes of a Fever blowout win. Clark's teammate Sophie Cunningham would get some revenge in the final minute by taking down Jacy Sheldon for an ejection-worthy foul. But as it turns out, Cunningham's foul on Sheldon might have been payback for an uncalled foul on Sheldon herself. Online detectives found photo evidence of Sheldon grabbing Clark's arm and seemingly digging her nails into her arm, but the foul went uncalled. In another instance, Sheldon appeared to take a swipe at Clark's eyes. Advertisement "Went straight for Caitlin Clark's eyes. Jacy Sheldon should be suspended for the year. At least," one user on X remarked. "She seems quite proud of herself. That's not a good look," wrote another. "Whoa! And look at the evil smile on her face. She definitely did it on purpose," a third wrote. Still more had other significant complaints about Sheldon and her behavior against Clark throughout the game: "Imo jacy Sheldon is a reckless player. Below is just some of the stuff she did against the Indiana fever not even showing what she did against Syd Colson. Hero Sophie Cunningham seem to have had enough and responded." Advertisement "Jacy Sheldon is nowhere near making a play on the ball here when she hits Caitlin Clark in the face. If this isn't a suspension then WNBA is a (clown) show. In the end, Sophie Cunningham came out looking like a hero while the Sun have looked like bullies and the WNBA has appeared incompetent. Indiana's next game will be tonight against the Golden State Valkyries. It wasn't until the final minute of regulation that Cunningham retaliated with a flagrant foul of her own. As Sheldon was attempting a layup, Cunningham grabbed her by the head/neck area and brought her to the ground. That led to a scuffle breaking out in front of the fans. After reviewing Cunningham's foul on Sheldon, the refs gave her a flagrant-2 and ejected her from the game. Following the Fever's blowout win, Sun head coach Rachid Meziane ripped Cunningham for her late-game antics. The Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese rivalry immediately resumed with flagrant foul in WNBA opener

Things between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky might not calm down anytime soon. On Saturday during the WNBA's 2025 opening weekend, Clark and Reese found themselves in a bit of a scuffle. Here's how it went down: Reese and Fever forward Natasha Howard were working under the basket. Reese pushed Howard, trying to secure a rebound. She got it, then dribbled to reset herself to go up for a bucket. Clark stepped up, went across Reese's body for the foul, and pushed her to the ground. Clark walked away as Reese got up, but the Sky forward gave her an earful over the foul. Fever center Aliyah Boston stepped in to hold Reese back. Clark was assessed a flagrant one foul, and Boston and Reese earned technical fouls. Caitlin Clark assessed a flagrant-one on this play. Double tech on Aliyah Boston and Angel Reese — those fouls offset. — hank 🇰🇷 (@Brian_Haenchen) May 17, 2025 Angel Reese takes exception to this Caitlin Clark foul — Clark Report (@CClarkReport) May 17, 2025 After the play, Clark told ESPN's Holly Rowe that there was no harm intended towards Reese. "It's just a good take foul," Clark said. "Either Angel gets wide-open two points. Or, you know, we send them to the free throw line. Nothing malicious about it. Just a good take foul. Every basketball player knows that." While the foul might not have been malicious, it was unnecessary. Clark could have fouled Reese without pushing her. Thankfully, the two are cool with one another off the court. So, we're hoping that the rivalry can just stay on the basketball court. During the offseason, Clark attempted to put the storyline to bed by insisting there was no rivalry. "We're not best friends, by any means, but we're very respectful of one another," Clark said at the time. Surely everyone will be cool and totally normal about Saturday's incident.
