Parts of Sask. could receive up to 80 millimetres of rain this weekend
Areas of Ontario and Quebec have rainfall warnings on June 19, 2025. (Pexels) A rainy weekend is expected in parts of Saskatchewan, with up to 80 millimetres of rain possible in some areas by Saturday night. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued a rainfall warning for a portion of west central Saskatchewan around 3:30 p.m. on Friday. According to the warning, showers will begin late Friday evening and overnight before turning into heavy rain on Saturday morning. The weather agency says the heavy rain will continue during the day but will taper off in the evening. As of Friday afternoon, the warning covered areas including Kindersley, Eston, Rosetown, and surrounding regions. ECCC warns heavy downpours may lead to flash flooding and water pooling on roads, advising residents to stay alert and monitor forecasts here. ECCC As of Friday evening, parts of west central Saskatchewan were under a rainfall warning. (Photo source: Environment and Climate Change Canada) Increased runoff In an advisory Friday afternoon, the Water Security Agency (WSA) said the large amounts of rain is likely to increase runoff into the South Saskatchewan River, as well as other bodies of water between Lake Diefenbaker and the western border. WSA advises people to take precautions around lakes and rivers, making sure to be aware that water levels can change quickly and without warning. WSA asks the public to check local conditions before venturing on or near bodies of water and says it will provide updates as necessary.

Severe weather causes power outages in Memphis
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Thousands of Memphis Light, Gas, and Water customers are without power due to severe weather in the area early Thursday morning. There are currently 12,577 customers experiencing the outage. The majority of the Mid-South is under a Slight Risk (Level 2/5) for severe weather. A flash flood warning was also issued for Shelby County and Tipton County. Check the latest forecasts from WREG Weather Tips for if your power goes out: Check to see if the lights are out in neighboring homes — if so, it's likely a larger outage. Access the MLGW outage map via or the MLGW app. Report the outage on the MLGW app or call 544-6500. For more tools, visit here. Tips for if a powerline is knocked down: Stay away and call MLGW at 528-4465. Assume the line is 'energized' and stay away and warn others to do the same. Do not remove fallen tree limbs or other debris from power lines. (Tree limbs and other objects can conduct electricity that can shock anyone coming in contact with them.) This story will be updated. Massive flooding causes road closures in Memphis, the Mid-South
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A flash flood warning was issued Thursday morning for parts of the Mid-South as severe weather moves through early Thursday morning. WREG crews captured photos of the massive flooding on Interstate 240 under the Jefferson overpass, causing traffic delays. Drivers were seen attempting to push their vehicles through the flooding and still trying to pass through. Most streets were clear and skies were sunny by the afternoon, but the morning commute was a mess for many. We saw highway crews working on Interstate 240 trying to get the water off the roads. Nichole Lawrence with TDOT said the agency is constantly checking the drains to make sure drains are clear. 'It's part of our routine maintenance is checking our drains and we have a great partnership with the National Weather Service where we have calls and meetings with them when rain is predicted, so we are always ahead of that to make sure we can get out there and do a double check during our routine maintenance days,' Lawrence said. Severe weather causes power outages in Memphis Sheriff Shannon Beasley made a social media post saying they were also experiencing flooding on roadways all across Tipton County. A tractor-trailer was left flooded on Mt. Carmel Road near Barnett Hall Road, Beasley said. The Tennessee Department of Transportation has closed that road, along with Charleston Gift Road between Highway 54 and Highway 14, and Sherrill Cemetery Road, which is a dead-end road. Beasley says they are also working on other weather-related motor vehicle accidents and that areas along Highway 59 West, Highway 59 East, and Highway 54 are all experiencing flooding. He says Tipton County Public Works crews are working to barricade roadways and clear trees from the roads. More roadway closures are expected. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Alert Days severe storms across Maryland Wednesday & Thursday
After powerful overnight storms impacted Maryland overnight, more strong to severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening along with Thursday afternoon and evening. Alert Days Wednesday and Thursday for possible powerful storms The WJZ First Alert Weather Team has issued First Alert Weather Days Wednesday and Thursday for the potential for severe storms and heavy rainfall. The best chance for these nasty storms both days will be between 2 pm and 8 pm. Damaging winds, torrential downpours, and intense lightning are possible with any storms. Please stay weather aware and have the CBS News App downloaded to your phone so you can receive any severe weather watches and warnings issued. In addition to damaging winds, which may snap tree limbs, knock down trees, and cause power outages, especially on Thursday, there is the potential of localized flash flooding in spots. This will be especially true in areas that received heavy storms overnight. Any additional 1 to locally 3 inches of rain are possible with storms. Summer Heat and Humidity We'll see two rounds of heat and humidity over the next seven days. The first round of heat and humidity will be felt today and Thursday. Today's high temperatures will reach the upper 80s to near 90°. Factor in the high humidity and heat index values will reach between 95° and 100° today and heat index values may reach the lower 100s by Thursday afternoon. Friday will see a break for the tough heat and humidity with highs in the upper 80s and a noticeable drop in the mugginess. This will be the best weather day over the next seven days. Hot and sunny summer weekend Heat will return over the weekend with typical Maryland summertime temperatures on Saturday with highs in the lower 90s. Humidity on Saturday will be tolerable, but it's still a day you'll want to stay hydrated and take breaks from the heat. Even hotter weather builds into the area Sunday with highs in the middle 90s and humidity values on the rise. This means the heat index values will top out around 100°. If you're headed to AFRAM this weekend the weather will be dry, but hot! Please take all of the heat precautions including staying hydrated, wearing sun protection along with light weight and light colored clothing. The beaches this weekend will have perfect weather with a daily sea breeze keeping high temperatures in the lower 80s with plenty of sunshine. It's a perfect weekend to head down to the Atlantic beaches in Delaware and Maryland. Dangerous Heat Begins Monday An extended stretch of dangerous heat and humidity will begin Monday. A large area of high pressure will serve as a heat dome across our area. This means we'll see temperatures climbing into the upper 90s to lower 100s. In addition to the oppressive heat, humidity levels will be running high as well. This means heat index values of 100° to 110° will be possible. The worst stretch of heat looks to last Monday through Thursday. It's very important that you prepare you, your family, friends and neighbors for this type of heat. The body needs at least a few hours a day to cool off or it can become stressed leading to health ailments. Also please make sure that your pets stay cool and hydrated. Storms later Thursday may break the most intense part of the heat wave, but that could change, so please check back for updates. Stay with the WJZ First Alert Weather Team for further information about cooling center locations, other places to beat the heat, and new updates as this dangerous heat approaches.
