Sandhurst fatal house fire chemicals removal ongoing
Work to remove a quantity of potentially hazardous chemicals found at a house where a man died following a fire is ongoing, police has man, in his 80s, died in hospital after the blaze, described by the fire service as a "flash fire", on Oak Avenue, Sandhurst, Berkshire, on 6 days later, during searches at the home, police found a decommissioned mortar and potentially flammable and hazardous Valley Police said teams wearing specialist, protective clothing "in case of any spillage of chemicals which are all currently contained" were still working to clear them and make the house safe. The force said: "This is precautionary and we have not identified any immediate risk to health."This work may take some time to complete and we would like to thank the residents for their patience while we continue to make the property safe."It added there was currently no need for evacuation of any neighbouring properties, "however, this will be continually assessed".The decommissioned mortar found was safely destroyed by specialist man's death is being investigated as unexplained but there is no ongoing criminal investigation and the coroner had been informed, Thames Valley Police said. Girl, 9, and dad killed in horror house fire while mum ‘away on trip' are pictured – as child, 11, fighting for life
TRIBUTES have poured in after a dad and his nine-year-old daughter were killed in a horror house fire. The blaze that ripped through the house in Heckmondwike, Yorkshire killed Sohaib Ahmed, aged 38, and his daughter Manahal Ahmed on Sunday. 1 An 11-year-old girl, Sohaib's other daughter, remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital. Now, Sohaib and Manahal have been pictured for the first time as locals pay poignant tribute to the pair. Georgina Darragh said: "So very sad awful a dad and his wee daughter taken far too soon Rest in Peace sweet souls". Angela Walshaw wrote: "Oh this is so sad ,and pray the little girls as full recovery". Anne Sellers added: "Aww so so sad my thoughts are with family rip both of u". Detective Inspector Paul Greatorex said: "We are continuing to work with colleagues at the fire service to investigate this dreadfully sad incident which has resulted in a father and daughter losing their lives. "Extensive enquiries have been ongoing since yesterday and we have been working to locate and support relatives of the victims both here and outside of the UK at what is clearly an awful time for the family. "While our enquiries remain ongoing we do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances regarding the cause of the fire and will be preparing a file for the coroner in due course. Structure Fire in Lynchburg
Lynchburg, VA (WFXR) — The Lynchburg Fire Department is investigating an apartment fire in Lynchburg Tuesday night. It happened at the Lakeside Plaza Apartments, where people were trapped inside the building. LFD says the occupants were safely removed and no injuries have been reported yet. However, two pet cats were killed in the fire. Firefighters arrived on the scene Tuesday evening to find heavy smoke coming from the second floor of the building. Sunland Park Fire quickly knocks down structure fire
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Sunland Park Fire responded to and quickly knocked down a structure fire on Sunday afternoon, June 8, the department said on social media. The fire happened shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday along the 200 block of Edgewood in Sunland Park. Dona Ana Fire Resuce assisted. The fire happened on a covered porch attached to a home. The roof of the porch was damaged and so were dividing walls between between neighboring properties. The fire is believed to have started on an electric pole and spread to the porch. Three displaced in Paxtang house fire
PAXTANG, Pa. (WHTM) — A house fire displaced three residents in Paxtang Sunday afternoon. The fire broke out around 6:30 p.m. at a home on North 17th Street in the borough. Swatara Fire-Rescue Battalion Chief Jonathan Kibe told abc27 News at the scene that no injuries were reported and the fire was contained to a second floor bedroom at the home. 'The crews got here pretty fast, put it out before it caused too much damage,' Kibe said. 'Unfortunately, the homeowners won't be able to stay here for the night.' Kibe said the fire is under investigation and the Dauphin County Fire Marshal Task Force has been contacted.
