Man riding dirt bike dies after crashing into pole on South Side, police say
A 24-year-old man is dead after crashing a dirt bike early Thursday morning on the city's South Side. It happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 7400 block of South Wabash Avenue in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood. Chicago police said the victim was riding a dirt bike when he crashed into a pole. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His identity was not released. No other injuries were reported, according to police. It is unclear what caused the victim to crash the dirt bike. Area detectives are investigating.

Fatal motorcycle crash on Crowchild Trail likely caused by ‘excessive speed': police
A motorcycle was involved in a single vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in northwest Calgary. Police say speed was a likely factor in a fatal motorcycle crash in northwest Calgary on Sunday that left a 20-year-old man dead. The single-vehicle crash occurred around 2:50 p.m. on Crowchild Trail N.W. at the Sarcee Trail overpass. Police said it is believed a motorcyclist was travelling eastbound on Crowchild Trail in the left lane when they lost control, crossed the two right lanes and exited the roadway. The motorcycle continued eastbound, and the rider was dislodged before striking the overpass and suffering fatal injuries. The man was declared dead at the scene. The motorcycle came to a rest on the east side of Sarcee Trail. While 'excessive speed' is believed to be a factor in the crash, police have ruled out alcohol or drugs. Anyone with information or footage from the area at the time of the crash is asked to call police at 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The public is asked to avoid the area of S. 13th Street and Oak Street as the Terre Haute Police Department is actively investigating a fatal traffic accident. According to THPD, S. 13th Street is expected to be closed for several hours while the investigation is conducted. Multiple authorities are on scene of the accident. Motorcyclist dies after crashing into pickup
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A motorcyclist died on Friday afternoon after striking the side of a pickup truck, the Clark County Sheriff's Office announced. The crash took place at the intersection of NE 173rd Circle and NE 142nd Avenue. 'Preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the pickup truck was traveling southbound on NE 142nd Avenue and was making a left-hand turn onto NE 173rd Circle. The motorcyclist was traveling northbound on NE 142nd Avenue and struck the side of the pickup truck as it turned in front of him,' CCSO said. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
