Sandown man charged after allegedly holding woman against her will
Sandown police say a man is in custody after allegedly holding a woman against her will at a local home. On Wednesday, Sandown Police and members of the Southern New Hampshire Special Operations Unit executed a search and arrest warrant at a home at 40 Eastfield Loop in Sandown. The search was conducted to locate a woman, 19, who officials believed was being held against her will. 'The search successfully located the young woman,' Sandown Police said in a news release. Police arrested Donald K. Forsyth III, 39, of Sandown at the home on charges of criminal restraint and false imprisonment. He is being held at the Rockingham County House of Correction on preventive detention until his arraignment, scheduled for Friday at the 10th Circuit Court in Derry at 9 a.m. Sandown Police said this case remains an active investigation, and anyone with information should contact Chief Joseph Gordon at the Sandown Police Department at 603-887-3887.

Florida football player who weighs 400 pounds arrested on false imprisonment charge after allegedly choking victim
A Florida football freshman has been arrested on a third-degree felony charge of false imprisonment after allegedly choking and punching a female victim. According to The Gainesville Sun, the accused 17-year-old player - whose name is being withheld as he is a juvenile - is said to have become physical following a verbal argument with the alleged victim - whose name and identifying details are also being withheld - on June 1. When he found unspecified information on her cell phone, the incoming Gators freshman allegedly pushed her onto a bed and began shaking her, the police report states. He is then said to have got on top of her and held her down, before choking her to the point where she could not breathe. The accused reportedly weighs close to 400 pounds and outweighs the alleged victim by over 200 pounds. She told police that she was punched in the face several times and had weave pulled off her head after rolling off the bed. The alleged victim also claims that she asked if he was 'satisfied' after he stopped hitting her, before he responded 'yes'. During the altercation, she also says the accused blocked the doorway when she tried to leave. He then allegedly grabbed her $1,500 iPhone and threw it against a wall, which he later admitted to. However, the player denied choking her and preventing her from leaving the room after having his Miranda Rights read to him. Officers who made the arrest spotted lacerations and wounds on the face of the alleged victim that were still visible and bleeding, according to the police report. It is believed there were also dents on the bedroom wall that were consistent with the size and shape of her phone. The maximum penalty for false imprisonment in Florida is up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000. The 17-year-old Florida freshman is set to be charged in Alachua County Civil Court. 'We will continue to gather facts, cooperate with and monitor the legal and administrative process,' a Florida Gators spokesperson is quoted as saying in a statement. has also reached out to the Gators for comment. Florida has now seen two of their football players arrested this offseason, after cornerback Dijon Johnson was arrested on felony drug and weapons charges in Tampa following a traffic stop last month. Johnson has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

MDSO deputy accused of choking woman he met at E11even Miami cleared of charges
A Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office deputy accused of attacking a woman he met at the popular Miami nightclub E11even in late April is now cleared of his criminal charges. On Monday, the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office announced 54-year-old Lt. Daniel Chala would not be prosecuted due to the victim's not cooperating with the police investigation. 'After numerous attempts to get the victim to cooperate with the SAO for the necessary pre-filing conference (a necessary part of every filed felony prosecution), the victim refused to assist with the case investigation. This resulted in the dropping of the pending criminal case,' said the statement released by the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office. Earlier that morning, Miami Police were called to the deputy's apartment after a neighbor reported hearing knocking and cries for help at her door, an arrest report detailed. The witness let the woman in and alerted authorities and the building's front desk when she saw her bleeding and battered state. The woman told police that she met Chala earlier that morning at E11even Nightclub, 29 NE 11th St., where they struck up a conversation at the bar before being invited back to his apartment. Once inside, the two began kissing on his bed, with Chala wrapping an arm around the victim's neck and tightening his grip to the point of pain. The woman collapsed to the floor before escaping out the door after several minutes of struggling to find help, the report read. The deputy agreed to speak to detectives and told a different version of events. His claim: after inviting the woman up to his apartment, she allegedly suggested they lie in bed together. Chala, who insisted he was tired, reportedly refused and asked her to leave, denying the two had made any physical contact outside of him kissing her hand.

Bay Area man convicted of imprisoning woman in hotel gets 394 year prison sentence
A man who was convicted of holding an elderly woman captive inside a San Francisco Bay Area hotel for more than two years has been sentenced to nearly 400 years in prison, prosecutors said. According to San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe's office, a judge on Monday sentenced 58-year-old Ian Edard Kroe of Oakland to 394 years to life in state prison. Kroe was convicted in February on 33 felony counts, including multiple counts of rape, torture, elder abuse and false imprisonment. Prosecutors said Kroe held the woman, who is now 74-years-old, as a virtual prisoner at the Belmont Hyatt Hotel from Aug. 2020 through Aug. 2022. The victim was a friend of Kroe's mother. After Kroe's mother died in 2016, prosecutors said he "struck up a friendship" with the victim and convinced her to travel with him, eventually ending up in the hotel. Prosecutors said Kroe eventually took over the victim's finances and drained her accounts. She repeatedly said she wanted to return to her home in New Mexico but he would not allow it. In the hotel, prosecutors said the victim was not allowed to leave the room for eight months and was threatened she would be killed if she left. Kroe also sexually assaulted the victim multiple times. The victim had also broke her ankle in 2021 and she was not allowed to receive medical care despite intense pain, according to the DA's office. After secretly contacting a friend in New Mexico, police found the victim in the hotel room, naked, bruised and unable to move on her own. During Monday's hearing, the DA's office said Kroe "conducted himself at sentencing with the usual antics" which included faking chest pains, making a series of bizarre motions and an effort to put off sentencing, which the court denied. The victim, who attended the hearing over Zoom, said at sentencing she "survived beyond all odds," prosecutors said. Two arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment after Co Down disturbance
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment after a disturbance in Co Down. The incident happened in the Scarva Walk area of Banbridge on Saturday, and led to homes being evacuated. Advertisement A woman was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not thought to be serious. A PSNI spokesperson said they went to the scene at about 6.25pm on Saturday after a report of a 'possible disturbance'. The spokesperson added: 'A 33-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment, criminal damage and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. 'A 43-year-old man was further arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment, criminal damage and assault on police. Advertisement 'Both men remain in custody at this time.
