David Beckham's gesture to Inter Miami players speaks volumes about Man Utd icon

Manchester United and Real Madrid icon David Beckham may be one of the most recognisable faces on the planet, but he still has time for all of his players at Inter Miami Inter Miami star Ian Fray has revealed that club co-owner Sir David Beckham is always there for his players, regardless of their standing in the squad. Beckham made waves in 2018 when he founded the Major League Soccer side. Since their inception, Inter Miami have built a squad that boasts several high-profile names, most prominently World Cup-winning legend Lionel Messi. He's been joined by his former Barcelona team-mates Jordi Alba, Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets. ‌ Such is Beckham's hands-on approach, he is often seen at Miami's training facility and frequently attends games. His focus isn't just on the team's household names, however. ‌ According to Fray, Beckham makes time for everyone and even goes as far as offering an on-call service of sorts for his players - a gesture that simply says it all about the recently knighted Manchester United icon. "Yeah, he's good," Fray told Mirror US Sports. "He's been here quite a few times and he says hi to everyone in the morning. If you want something, you can go and ask him at any time. He gives you his number so you can text him if you need anything. He's a great guy." It's been a huge week for the 50-year-old, with the former England captain recognised for his services to sport and charity in King Charles' Birthday Honours list. Last Friday, the ex-PSG man became Sir David. Yet the former Real Madrid winger's dedication to his club was on full display once again just hours later. He was in attendance for Miami's Club World Cup opener at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, a day on from receiving his honour from King Charles in London. Speaking to DAZN on the day of the game, Beckham said: "'It's been an emotional week I must admit. For me and for my family. It's obviously very special. It's a huge honour, but one that has been shared with myself and my family and so, it's been emotional." ‌ Miami have been drawn in a group with Egyptian outfit Al Ahly, Brazilian side Palmeiras, and Portugal's FC Porto at FIFA's revamped Club World Cup. Before kicking off their campaign with a disappointing 0-0 draw against Al Ahly on Sunday, Fray expressed his belief that they can make an impact in the tournament. "We had a really strong week of practice last week, it's been super hot here. I think we are definitely ready," the 22-year-old said. "Once we heard we were in from even last year, we were looking forward to this. Everyone looks at MLS as a lower league - we want to go in and make a statement and show that we can hang with whoever." ‌ Miami will now come up against Porto on Thursday as they bid for their first win of the competition. The Club World Cup also features Premier League sides Chelsea and Manchester City. Enzo Maresca's team get their campaign underway on Monday evening against Los Angeles FC. Pep Guardiola's team meet Moroccan outfit Wydad Casablanca on Wednesday afternoon.

Former PSG midfielder Marco Verratti set to join Al-Duhail

Two years after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, Marco Verratti (32) is on the move again – but staying in Qatar. According to Foot Mercato, the Italian international will join Al-Duhail on a free transfer after two seasons with Al-Arabi. The ex-PSG midfielder, who amassed 416 appearances for the club between 2012 and 2023, scored four goals and provided four assists in the Qatari top flight this season. However, his contributions were not enough to lift Al-Arabi higher than 9th place in the 12-team league. Advertisement Verratti will now join the reigning Qatari league runners-up, Al-Duhail, where he'll link up with fellow European exports Benjamin Bourigeaud (formerly of Rennes), Luis Alberto, and Hakim Ziyech. Christophe Galtier, who coached Verratti briefly in Paris, recently left Al-Duhail after declining to extend his contract. Verratti spent over a decade at PSG, making 416 appearances, scoring 11 goals, and lifting nine Ligue 1 titles. He was present at the Champions League final won by his former club, covering the match for Italian TV. GFFN | George Boxall

Fabrizio Romano Says Liverpool, Manchester City Target With PSG Sell-on Clause Wants Transfer This Summer

Manchester City and Liverpool are showing strong interest in Xavi Simons, and any potential transfer could benefit PSG. Although PSG loaned Simons to RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023 and sold him this year, the French club still stands to profit from his next move. As part of the transfer, PSG put in a sell-on clause that could earn them money beyond the initial fee. According to CaughtOffside, Manchester United might have the upper hand over Manchester City in the race to sign Simons next summer. Advertisement Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Leipzig paid a total of €80 million—€55 million up front and the rest in add-ons. Simons is contracted through June 2027, but with several top clubs interested, his long-term future remains uncertain. Liverpool, Manchester City receive major boost for ex-PSG aceTransfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Simons has made his decision and is set to leave RB Leipzig this summer. He's reportedly ready for a new chapter, with top Premier League clubs and Bayern Munich closely monitoring his situation. Moreover, RB Leipzig are fully aware of his plans. This week, GIVE ME SPORT reported, citing sources, that RB Leipzig are willing to sell Xavi Simons when the transfer window reopens, and the player has expressed a strong desire to make his first Premier League move. Advertisement The outlet also claims Leipzig is open to a major sale after missing out on Champions League revenue. This could allow Manchester City to sign Simons, who is seen as an alternative to Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz. GIVE ME SPORT further notes that Manchester City has learned that Simons carries a £60 million price tag. However, they've been long-time admirers, having tracked him for the past year. They're now considering whether to enter negotiations, especially with concerns that Wirtz might opt to join Bayern Munich.

Declan Rice makes 'magic' Arsenal promise after Mikel Arteta message to Gunners

Arsenal must overturn a 1-0 deficit as they head to Paris Saint Germain for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final Declan Rice promised Arsenal can deliver more 'magic moments' to overcome Paris Saint Germain and reach the Champions League final. Gunners midfielder Rice smashed two sensational free kicks to help see off Real Madrid in the last round and he is convinced they can beat the odds again. They must come from behind to beat PSG but Rice revealed Mikel Arteta has delivered a stirring team talk that has all the players believing they can do it. Rice said: 'I think the manager calls them magic moments. He always talks about having someone delivering a magic moment. ‌ "I think in that game against Madrid, obviously I was able to produce two free kicks, which were incredible. But tomorrow night, a semi-final is set up for someone else to maybe get that magic moment. ‌ 'Hopefully it's me again, but you're going to need a moment of magic to win a game, and as a team we're going to need that. So tomorrow night hopefully we can deliver something special.' Gunners boss Arteta also insisted that if Arsenal can beat PSG and go all the way to the final then it would be the greatest night in the club's history. Arsenal were beaten in Paris in their only previous Champions League final appearance in 2006 when they lost out to Barcelona but ex-PSG star Arteta is convinced they can go one better. Arteta said: 'Yes, it will give us another opportunity and football brings you to places like Paris that are so related sometimes. It's a beautiful story, so let's make it our own tomorrow. You're going to get remembered for those moments. "The biggest stage is when the team needs it, when the club needs it, to deliver those moments. I'm playing with that mindset. This kind of game is, in my opinion, the right one and that's the work that we've done in the last few hours. 'We are a win away from being in the Champions League final and in the most beautiful city in the world. Against a great opponent, it doesn't get much better than that. We are here to make history, we have a big opportunity tomorrow. ‌ "We bring a result that gives us so much clarity about what we have to do. A lot of learning from the first leg as well and how small the margins are between the two teams. 'The result, in my opinion, should have been very different to that one. So tomorrow, another opportunity to prove that and the right to be in the final. If we win tomorrow it would be the biggest night in the club's history.'

Luis Enrique's PSG hope to bring joy to fans with win over rivals Marseille

March 15 (Reuters) - While Paris St-Germain can extend their lead atop Ligue 1 to 19 points if they beat Olympique de Marseille, manager Luis Enrique said it was beating their bitter rivals that really counted. The defending champions PSG are unbeaten in 25 league matches on 65 points, 16 ahead of Roberto De Zerbi's second-placed Marseille. "This match represents one of the best games we can play. We can still bring joy to our fans," Luis Enrique told reporters ahead of the home match at the Parc des Princes. "The importance of the derby has nothing to do with the standings." Enrique said he hoped for a "great festival of football" against De Zerbi's team: "He's going to fight for possession and press high, with one-on-ones. The match isn't just an emotional affair, it's also tactical." The rivalry, dubbed "Le Classique", has often been marred by offensive chants. Before the meeting in October, PSG fans targeted Marseille's ex-PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot. Asked about the possibility of similar incidents on Sunday, the Spaniard said: "My thoughts are always the same: we need the support of our fans at every match, we love their support over the seasons. I'd like us to be able to count on that support at every game. "The fans should really focus on PSG, respect the opponents, support the team." He said captain Marquinhos, who was taken off in the 92nd minute of PSG's win over Liverpool in the Champions League on Tuesday, was available for selection. "He had some discomfort - it's not an injury at all, he's fine," he added. "We'll analyse the risk to see whether we should take it or not. He's not going to get a rest during the international break ... I'm going to continue with my rotation, that's the way I see the game. We're always competitive."
