We told you how Ørjasæter was a top target for Brendan Rodgers' side in December, and the Scottish champions later opened talks with Sarpsborg about a potential deal. Orjasaeter scored six goals in 32 appearances for Sarpsborg last season, with their campaign finishing in December. He started every league game and also played in five games for the Norway Under-21s. Since then the left winger's played seven games since the Norwegian league started at the end of March, with one goal and three assists. He picked up a thigh injury in the May against Brann Bergen, but the injury has now cleared and he is fit and raring to go again. And the interest in the young talent is ramping up, according to reports. TV Sport 2 in Norway reckons it would take a bid of more than £11million to prise the star asset away from the Eliteserien. Both French side Lille and Celtic are credited shown interest. But the report claims Dutch club PSV is now leading the race for his signature, and says Orjasaeter is open to the move as he feels the Eredivisie would suit his style of play. Ørjasæter told the Norwegian outlet: "Now I feel ready to take the step, while I am doing well here with full focus on Sarpsborg. Eric Black on losing love for football & the ex-Celtic star who's the best he's ever seen "A transfer is not something I think about very much. "I think that if it happens, it happens. It's not like I'll be depressed if there's no transition." If Celtic were to miss out on the 21-year-old they are also looking at other options, with Michel-Ange Balikwisha from Antwerp on Brendan Rodgers' radar. Meanwhile, the club announced their second signing of the summer on Friday as goalkeeper Ross Doohan rejoins the club he started out as a youngster. The 27-year-old arrives on a free transfer and has signed a three-year deal. Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

Ex-Celtic star Kyogo linked with shock move to English club which would see him be reunited with international team-mate

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) FORMER Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi is being linked with a surprise move to Championship side Birmingham City. That's according to reports in Japan, where it is being claimed the 30-year-old striker is ready to end his nightmare spell in Rennes and try his luck in England's second tier. Sign up for the Celtic newsletter Sign up 2 Kyogo in action for Celtic Credit: Getty 2 Kyogo celebrates with Jota at Celtic Credit: PA If the move does go through it would see him join up with his ex-Celtic team-mate and compatriot Tomoki Iwata, and former Celtic assistant Chris Davies who is the current Birmingham boss. But they are not the first English club to be linked with the Japan international, who will be keen to get first-team football with next year's World Cup on the horizon. The report from Sponichi Annex claims several European clubs are interested in his services, but that Birmingham are leading the chase for his signature as they look to return to the Premier League. It is also claimed that Kyogo himself is said to be positive about the transfer. Having been frozen out at Rennes, playing just six games since signing for the French club in January, Kyogo was linked with a move to Bournemouth last month by French outlet Le Parisien. And he has also been linked with a return to Celtic but that move looks unlikely to happen. The striker still has two years left on his deal at the Ligue 1 side with manager Habib Beye insisting the former Celtic hero is still part of his plans. He said: "Even if he doesn't get the minutes he would like, he is an integral part of my squad. "Kyogo's lack of playing time doesn't mean he doesn't meet my expectations, otherwise he wouldn't be in the squad and he wouldn't come on as a sub. "He's a quality player and he will bring something to the team, I'm convinced of that." Kyogo leaves Celtic fans heartbroken as he leads wild fan celebrations after new club debut Before that Kyogo made himself a fans favourite at Celtic, winning three Premiership titles, three League Cups and two Scottish Cups during his three-and-a-half years at the club. After scoring 85 goals for Celtic, he left for French side Rennes in a £10 million deal in January 2025 but he's endured a difficult time. Meanwhile, Celtic are reportedly locked in talks with Antwerp over a potential deal for winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha. Surprising Kyogo rumour Kyogo Furuhashi could be on the move again this summer just six months after leaving Celtic for Rennes in a £10million transfer. The Japanese striker has endured a nightmare spell in France, managing only six appearances, and just one start, for a combined 120 minutes of action and no goals since joining the Ligue 1 club in January. According to Japanese news outlet Sponichi Annex, the 30-year-old could be set for a surprise move back to the UK to sign for newly-promoted English Championship side Birmingham City. The report claims that Kyogo is favouring the possible move to England's second tier ahead of other options on the table from around Europe. A move to the Blues, who are managed by Brendan Rodgers' ex-Celtic assistant Chris Davies, would see the striker team up with former Celtic team-mate Tomoki Iwata. (Photo by) | Getty Images Celtic's possible next windfall Celtic have already banked a £5million sell-on fee this summer thanks to Jeremie Frimpong's move to Liverpool, now they could be set for a second windfall with another former player lined up for a big move. The Parkhead coffers were significantly boosted earlier this month when Frimpong completed a £29.7milion move from Bayer Leverkusen to Anfield. Celtic negotiated a 30 per cent sell-on clause on any future profit made when they sold Frimpong to the German club for £11m in 2021. Another jackpot could be on the cards amid reports that Brighton midfielder Matt O'Riley has been the subject of a £25.6m bid from Napoli just 12 months on from his £25m Parkhead exit. It is claimed that talks are ongoing over the "package" the Seagulls would receive for O'Riley with the club willing to sell the 24-year-old if their valuation is met. It is understood that Celtic hold a 10 per cent sell-on clause in the deal which could see the Scottish champions earn upwards of £2.5m. Ex-Rangers coach lands SPFL job

Martin Foyle mind made up on Carlisle United move as recruitment chief leaves St Mirren

The Port Vale goal machine opted to explore a new challenge south of the border where he will team up with Manchester United and Wales legend Mark Hughes. St Mirren's summer recruitment drive has been interrupted following Martin Foyle's SMiSA Stadium departure. The Buddies head of recruitment has joined National League side Carlisle United where Manchester United and Wales legend Mark Hughes is manager. Foyle has been quickly replaced in the role by ex-Celtic, Rangers and Blackburn Rovers talent spotter John Park. ‌ The Port Vale goal machine joined the Saints in 2022 under manager Stephen Robinson – who he also worked with at Motherwell – and has played a pivotal role during his spell with Saints. ‌ In a statement, the Buddies confirmed Foyle was moving on to a 'new challenge'. But in an interview with Carlisle's media team, when asked if it was difficult to leave Saints, Foyle admitted it 'wasn't really'. He added that there were 'things going on in the background that people don't see' but he stressed that his relationship with Robbo was 'fantastic'. The Northern Irishman has banged the drum for Foyle throughout his time at Saints and recently spoke about his invaluable contribution as a 'one-man band'. He said: 'Martin has been an integral part of what we've done over the past three-and-a-half years and he's been an integral part of what I've done as a manager over 10 years now. He's a close friend of mine now and it's a sad loss for the club. 'Another opportunity arose that was exciting for him and it's with regret that Martin is leaving. I'd like to put on record my thanks to him for his recruitment and for all he's done at the football club. 'The club have appointed John and it's important that we get working together quickly, build a relationship and I look forward to that.' ‌ Park has a big role to play immediately with Saints' summer transfer window plans in full swing. He added: 'I'm delighted to be joining St Mirren. I'm excited to meet the manager, build a relationship with him and add to the good work that has been done over the past few years. 'The club has a clear strategy in terms of its football operations and I believe my experience will help build upon that.'

Thomas Frank shows his true colours over Ange Postecoglou as new Tottenham boss makes feelings clear

The former Brentford manager was hired by Daniel Levy to take over from the ex-Celtic gaffer in North London Thomas Frank has spoken out on Ange Postecoglou as part of his first interview as Tottenham's new manager – hailing him as a legend. The former Celtic boss delivered on his second season trophy promise as he sparked wild scenes in Bilbao by defeating Manchester United in the Europa League Final and ending the long wait for silverware in North London. ‌ The triumph also booked a golden ticket to the Champions League this season and landed Spurs a mega windfall in the process. ‌ However, a 17th place finish in the English Premier League - despite the success in Europe's second tier competition - proved to much for Daniel Levy and club bosses as they decided to axe Ange after two seasons at the club. They moved quickly and turned attentions to Brentford boss Frank and got a deal over the line with the Bees. Now, the new Spurs boss has spoken for the first time since taking up his new position and he has shown his true colours over the man he has replaced. Speaking as part of an in-house interview, Frank said: "I think Ange has done something special. He'll forever be a legend in Tottenham. "It's important to understand we all stand on the shoulders of others. "I'm going in on the foundation Ange built, and his coaching staff, and I'm very humble about that. ‌ "I'll do my very best to continue the great work he put in. "The feeling, the excitement, the joy and the happiness in the fans' faces, the pictures were 'wow'. "Hopefully, we can create more of those moments. That will be the ultimate dream: to do that and build on that." ‌ Tottenham kick off the new season at home to Burnley but before that EPL showdown they have the small matter of fighting PSG in the Super Cup with more silverware on the line before the campaign even gets up and running. Ange has already been linked with a quick-fire return to the dugout in Saudi as he ponders his next steps.
