Ex-Bishop Moore teacher arrested on charges of inappropriately touching student
A former teacher at Bishop Moore Catholic High School was arrested Thursday after a student said he inappropriately touched her.
Jared Andrew Tatum, 31, was taken into custody by the Orlando Police Department's Fugitive Investigative Unit on one count each of attempted sexual battery of a victim over 12 years of age and lewd touching of certain minors, according to a news release from the department.
Tatum, an engineering teacher, was tutoring an underage female student. On May 7, the student told the school he had inappropriately touched her during a tutoring session. The school immediately contacted OPD and terminated Tatum, according to the release.
OPD said there is currently no evidence of additional victims and the investigation remains ongoing. No other information was included in the release. Court records for Tatum were not immediately available online.
