Lowes heir Josh Penn and Ben Palmer's Point Piper home sells
Lowes heir Josh Penn and his husband Ben Palmer have sold their Wyuna Rd, Point Piper mansion for $23.5m. The couple, with son Brooklyn, 6, and daughter Blake, 4, are now understood to be focusing on renovating the Penn family's palace at Cap 'd'ail in the south of France, where they're intending on spending some time next year. And they're also now debating whether to move to their former Double Bay home, now rebuilt, or to another eastern suburbs mansion they've apparently purchased, that's 'quite substantial'. Hush-hush sale hits 2025 record Penn and Palmer are listed as co-owners on the land title for Capri, the Edwardian residence at 4 Wyuna Rd bought for $16m in 2021, alongside Penn's parents David and Linda Penn who have 70 per cent ownership. But it's now sold via Monika Tu and Jad Khattar of Black Diamonz, with Tom Penfold of Cohen Handler known to have introduced the buyer. There'd initially been hopes of $28m. Penn and Palmer had been living in Capri during the three-year rebuild of their own home at 7 Carlotta Rd, Double Bay, bought for $6.7m in 2020, which is apparently 'incredible' and nearly ready to move into. No clue yet as to the location of this other 'quite substantial' property, which is yet to settle. The Wyuna Rd residence was previously owned by nursing-home scion Mark Moran and his interior decorator wife Evette. The historic home on a 723sqm block had harbour views, an internal lift, multiple balconies, manicured grounds and a pool. Penn and Palmer had initially intended to do major renovations, but ended up doing just landscaping the garden and adding lighting. Their good taste in furniture helped give the home extra zing. Josh Penn and mother Linda, the highly regarded philanthropist and CEO of Lowes Menswear that's worth $800m, recently raised a whopping $84.3m at the recent Gold Dinner for the Sydney Children's Hospital foundation.

The ritzy suburbs in one Aussie city where house prices are plummeting
Property prices in some of Sydney 's most glamorous suburbs have taken a tumble despite Australia's otherwise soaring real estate market. The city's eastern suburbs of Vaucluse, Waverley, Woolloomooloo and Darlinghurst have seen median price falls of up to $750,000. Affluent northern beaches suburbs Manly and Fairlight have also seen big decreases in property prices over the past year. Despite falling interest rates leading to an increase in real estate value across the rest of the market, Sydney's most glitzy neighbourhoods have seen prices plummet. Buyers have instead been turning to more affordable areas as cost-of-living pressures continue to affect Aussies, according to PropTrack data reported by The reduction in demand in these usually sought after neighbourhoods has put pressure on sellers in these affluent areas while buyers have been given more power to negotiate. Over the past year, prices in the areas listed, found in the eastern suburbs and northern beaches, fell by an average of more than 14 per cent. Manly property prices were an average of around $750,000 lower this year compared to 2024 while in neighbouring Fairlight, the difference was around $600,000. North shore areas including Cammeray, Cremorne, Gordon, Kirribilli, Neutral Bay and Lindfield have also seen huge falls between 10 and 14 per cent. Southern suburbs Blakehurst, Woolooware and Kingsgrove have seen significant falls in house prices as well as Glebe and Strathfield South, in the inner west. REA Group economist Eleanor Creagh said uncertainty about the global economy played a huge role in the falling property prices in affluent areas. 'Buyers in some premium markets may have been more cautious,' she said. 'These buyers are typically less sensitive to mortgage rates and more responsive to broader macro-economic factors. 'With recent uncertainty around the economic outlook and volatility in equity markets, some high-end buyers may be exercising caution (and) delaying upgrade decisions.' Ms Creagh noted that this was in contrast to a rise in Aussies looking to buy houses in areas in the cheaper end of the market. The Reserve Bank's rate cutes in February and May have resulted in the borrowing capacity for prospective buyers increasing. This increase has helped to fuel a rise in property prices in some areas, Ms Creagh said. Although weakness in the market late last year just before the rate cuts needs to be taken into account when looking at the annual price figures. Auctioneer Damien Cooley, director of Cooley, one of Sydney's biggest auction houses, said house buyers were not interested in properties with drawbacks unless they were being offered at significantly reduced prices. Homes that are considered 'A-grade', and provide a buyer with everything they are looking for, are still selling well. But, 'C-grade' and 'D-grade' homes that require substantial improvements were struggling, Mr Cooley said.

‘Nude model' Dina Broadhurst sells Darling Point home for around $8.4m
Nude model Dina Broadhurst stripped the price guide on her Darling Point home from $11.5m to $8.4m last month, and has now finally scored a buyer just hours before the apartment was due to go under the hammer. Set to go to auction on Thursday, Sydney's eastern suburbs real estate rumour mill has suggested it was snapped up around the amended guide price that afternoon. Broadhurst, who is best known for her strong social media following where her risque self portraits, edgy advertising work and mixed media pieces have earned her a handsome 365,000-strong following on Instagram. Her website suggests her projects focus on desire, sexuality, escapism, memory, fantasy and luxury. Previously, Broadhurst has collaborated with Mercedes Benz, La Prairie, Vogue, Tom Ford, Westfield and Davis Jones. According to title records, the photographer and collector bought 7/22 Etham Ave in 2022 for $5.2 million with her ex-boyfriend, property developer Max Shepherd who is still listed as an owner. Originally listed in November 2024, Broadhurst's three-bedroom home with harbour views has had a number of agents before landing on co-agents David Malouf of Highland Property and Warren Ginsberg of Ray White Double Bay who sealed the deal. Neither agent was willing to confirm with News Corp the exact sale price or purchaser of the blue chip asset. Since 2022, the 280sq m garden unit, which encompasses the whole floor of a duplex mansion in the coveted suburb, has undergone a complete renovation with interiors by StudioJos. Luxe finishes include a dining room with bespoke cocktail bar and wine storage, and Arabescato kitchen, two marble bathrooms, 3.6m high ceilings, wide oak floors, custom cabinetry, a designer gas fireplace and vintage Murano glass wall lights. In April, the designer home featured in Belle Magazine. In addition to the Instagrammable interiors and postcard backdrop overlooking Double Bay, Redleaf Pool and Seven Shillings Beach, the property is positioned on tightly-held Etham ave close to and just a short stroll to McKell Park, Darling Point ferry wharf, Double Bay Village and Edgecliff station. There were suggestions Broadhurst was considering keeping the blue-chip home after previously struggling to sell, but it now looks like she will be in the market for a new pad.

Aussie cops accused of 'George Floyd moment' after late night arrest on video leaves a man in a coma on life support
A father-of-two who was tackled to the ground and allegedly kneed in the neck by police remains in a critical condition with suspected brain damage. Police allegedly witnessed an altercation between Gaurav Kundi, 42, and his partner Amritpal Kaur in Adelaide 's eastern suburbs early Thursday. According to authorities, Mr Kundi allegedly 'violently resisted' arrest before he became unresponsive while on the ground. Footage filmed by his partner showed Mr Kundi screaming as several officers tried to detain him against a police car. 'I've done nothing wrong,' he shouted. His frantic partner added: 'Yeah, he hasn't done anything, what the hell!' The footage appeared to show police forcing Mr Kundi to the ground. 'Oh my God! They are doing unfair!' Ms Kaur screamed. Ms Kaur alleged an officer put a knee into his neck after she stopped filming due to being in a state of panic. Mr Kundi was rushed to Royal Adelaide Hospital in a critical condition, where he remains on life support. His partner claims the incident would have been avoided had police asked what had happened. 'They needed to ask first what we were doing,' Ms Kaur told Daily Mail Australia on Sunday night. '(The police) can't do this sh*t with someone's life.' Ms Kaur said that her partner spent the evening drinking before leaving their home. She followed him and offered assistance while trying to convince him to come home. Mr Kundi tried to push away her away, telling her he could walk himself. It's understood a passing patrol car mistook the incident for 'domestic violence'. 'I keep saying (to the police) he's not well, he's not well, please don't do this, just call the ambulance,' Ms Kaur said. She claimed she tried to warn police about Mr Kundi's pre-existing health conditions. 'His health is not very good and is heart is not working,' Ms Kaur told Nine News. Doctors can't guarantee that he will wake up from his coma 'His brain is damaged because the policeman hit very badly on the road. On the car, his head. And his neck nerve,' Ms Kaur said. 'Maybe he will wake up if brain works or maybe he will not.' 'I am just sitting over there and praying to God. Nothing else I can do. Nothing else I can do.' No charges have been laid. South Australian Police has launched an internal investigation into the incident as inquiries continue. Authorities will examine 'all evidence', including body-worn footage. SA Acting Assistant Commissioner John DeCandia previously stated he was satisfied officers had acted appropriately. 'I can say that from that evidence I've looked at, from that body-worn video, but it is only one portion, I'm comfortable, but that is only one police officer,' he told reporters on Friday. SA Premier Peter Malinauskas also backed police.
