By Cereal fans are mourning the loss of several Cheerios products after General Mills quietly discontinued them. Honey Nut Cheerios Medley Crunch, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios, and 18-ounce boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios Minis have all been axed. General Mills didn't offer a specific reason for the cuts,, but told ABC News that it could be for reasons 'ranging from insufficient consumer demand to ingredients no longer available or other supply chain constraints.' Cereal enthusiast Kayla Simonsen leaked the news on Instagram earlier this month, leaving Cheerio fans heartbroken. 'I'm so sad chocolate peanut butter cheerios were my favorite. It's always sold out or low stock at the stores I buy it from,' an Instagrammer commented on the post. 'Loved the medley crunch! What a bummer! I already can't find them anywhere,' another shopper claimed. General Mills offers over 20 different flavors and made headlines in 2023 for pulling its Maple Cheerios off store shelves . Cheerios competes with other cereals like Honey Bunches of Oats, which was part of a recent recall over fears of metal in the food . Social media users were mainly saddened over the loss of the chocolate peanut butter cereal, which launched in 2017. While Instagram users are mourning over the 'tragic' medley loss, fans had already been grieving on X after Cheerios confirmed the flavor was discontinued in March . The Honey Nut Cheerios Minis began flying off shelves after they were announced as a new addition last year. Post Consumer Brands discontinued the longtime Oreo O's cereal to make room for Oreo Puffs, a similar cereal offering. General Mills brought back its Frosted Lemon Cheerios, which are available for a limited time. The manufacturer is also keeping up with fans and keeping an eye on what Cheerio flavors they're looking for.

Cheerios competes with other cereals like Honey Bunches of Oats, which was part of a recent recall over fears of metal in the food. Social media users were mainly saddened over the loss of the chocolate peanut butter cereal, which launched in 2017. 'Of the three, it baffles me the most that Cheerios would discontinue the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios,' Simonsen wrote. A few others called it their 'favorite flavor' and claimed they hadn't seen it in stores for a while. The Honey Nut Cheerios Medley was also a talked-about product that was introduced in 2013. While Instagram users are mourning over the 'tragic' medley loss, fans had already been grieving on X after Cheerios confirmed the flavor was discontinued in March. The Honey Nut Cheerios Minis began flying off shelves after they were announced as a new addition last year. Multiple users were disappointed over the brand's decision to discontinue the 18-ounce packages since the treats were 'baking favorites.' However, unlike the other two flavors, General Mills is not axing this one completely and will keep offering 10.8-ounce packages of the minis. General Mills offers over 20 different flavors of Cheerios Cheerios were not the only breakfast food shoppers were forced to say goodbye to. 'Much like Frosted Lemon Cheerios, which returned by popular demand, we continue to listen to our fans as we evolve our offerings,' the company told Some of the flavors that social media users have been asking for lately include blueberry, cinnamon, and banana caramel.

Cheerios quietly discontinued three flavors — and customers are not happy

General Mills has quietly discontinued three of its Cheerios flavors, leaving customers upset. Instagram creator @the_cerealqueen shared a post earlier this month about the trio of cereals leaving stores. These flavors include Honey Nut Cheerios Medley Oat Crunch, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios, and Honey Nut Cheerios 'Minis.' According to @the_cerealqueen, the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios tasted like a Reese's Puffs cereal, but 'with a stronger peanut butter chocolate that dominates over the sugar element.' Meanwhile, the Honey Nut Cheerios Medley Oat Crunch combined the classic Honey Nut Cheerios with 'multigrain-based flakes that had graham cracker flour' and honey clusters of granola with almonds. The third discontinued cereal, Honey Nut Cheerios 'Minis,' was simply a mini version of the usual Cheerios. However, it's unclear when exactly the three cereals were discontinued and why. The Independent has contacted General Mills for comment. In the comments of @the_cerealqueen's post, customers have expressed how disappointed they are about the cereals being shelved, while others said they're rushing to get their hands on the last boxes. 'Choc PB Cheerios are great and I just finished a box! didn't know it would maybe be my last. will look to get one more!' one wrote, while another added: 'Chocolate pb were my entire family's favorite.' 'Awww wait these flavors look awesome, I'm sad they won't be around!!' a third wrote. A fourth customer added: "Oh I really liked the minis, this is sad.' The news about these cereals being discounted comes after General Mills welcomed some new Cheerios products. In December, the company followed the viral trend of many food brands by adding protein to their products. More specifically, the brand launched Cheerios Protein, sold in Cinnamon and Strawberry. The flavors come with eight grams of protein per serving. According to a press release, the protein cereal came after General Mills launched different products in 2024, including 'fan favorite pantry staples featuring protein, like Wheaties Protein, Annie's Super Mac, and Yoplait Protein.' 'As protein continues to be an important priority for people of all ages, we specifically created Cheerios Protein with families in mind,' Emilie Knox, vice president and business unit director, Morning Foods at General Mills, said in a statement. 'We wanted it to taste great and to preserve the iconic Cheerios shape, but with a good source of protein, all in a convenient cereal we know everyone at the breakfast table will love — turning all mornings into good mornings.' In May, a customer on Instagram also spotted that General Mills has released Cheerios Protein Bars. The chewy treat is sold in two flavors, Mixed Berry and Chocolate Peanut Butter, with each bar offering seven grams of protein.

Aldi discontinues popular breakfast must-have leaving shoppers gutted

A POPULAR Aldi breakfast item has been discontinued leaving shoppers absolutely gutted. The breakfast item was a favourite among Aldi shoppers who have been left in the dark over its absence. 3 Aldi quietly removed the Specially Selected Caramel Layered Yogurt from its shelves. Shoppers only discovered the yogurt was discontinued after failing to find it in their local shop. The product was a favourite among Aldi shoppers who have been gutted by its disappearance. Aldi have listed the item as "currently unavailable" on their website giving no indication of when or why it was pulled from shelves. Some shoppers have reported spotting a similar product in Lidl stores. The yogurt was reportedly replaced with a lemon layered flavour. Other layered yogurt flavours are still available at the retailer online and in store. Venting their frustration with the quiet disappearance of their breakfast favourite shoppers took to social media. One disappointed shopper said: "I've been looking for several weeks and they have not had it in stock in 3 local stores. I have it with their chocolate granola." Other retailers appear to be selling the product or a dupe of the product. One online retailer lists the item in stock for only 75p and shoppers in European countries are still able to purchase the item from Aldi stores. The yogurt sold in 150g tubs for less than £1 when it was in stock. 3 It was described on packaging as "indulgent" with caramel sauce layered throughout the yogurt. Aldi is selling a replacement product, a four pack of Greek style layered salted caramel yogurts, but these are not specially selected. Other flavours of the specially selected layered yogurts are still available on Aldi shelves. These include lemon, blackberry and blackcurrant, mango and vanilla, raspberry and passion fruit and strawberry. Aldi have not issued any statement on the yogurt flavour being discontinued. The product was quietly removed from shelves with no warning given to shoppers. Several hopeful customers spent weeks visiting different stores and scouring the shelves looking for the breakfast favourite. Why are products axed or recipes changed? ANALYSIS by chief consumer reporter James Flanders. Food and drinks makers have been known to tweak their recipes or axe items altogether. They often say that this is down to the changing tastes of customers. There are several reasons why this could be done. For example, government regulation, like the "sugar tax," forces firms to change their recipes. Some manufacturers might choose to tweak ingredients to cut costs. They may opt for a cheaper alternative, especially when costs are rising to keep prices stable. For example, Tango Cherry disappeared from shelves in 2018. It has recently returned after six years away but as a sugar-free version. Fanta removed sweetener from its sugar-free alternative earlier this year. Suntory tweaked the flavour of its flagship Lucozade Original and Orange energy drinks. While the amount of sugar in every bottle remains unchanged, the supplier swapped out the sweetener aspartame for sucralose.

‘Most underrated' Tango flavour discontinued across all supermarkets as fuming shoppers call for u-turn

A FAN favourite Tango flavour has been discontinued as fuming shoppers call for a u-turn. Carlsberg Britvic has axed Tango Dark Berry Sugar Free with customers struggling to find it on shelves. If so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE reconsider this decision." A third chipped in: "Tango why have you discontinued Tango Dark Berry? It was your best drink and my favourite." A spokesperson for Carlsberg Britvic said it stopped making Dark Berry Tango earlier this year. They added: "We've introduced Tango Cherry Sugar Free, launched Limited Edition Strawberry Smash and brought back our two Limited Drop Tango Blast flavours – Cherry Blast and Raspberry Blast. 'That's my midweek treat every week and seems to be very popular.' A second added: 'I would have loved a ham salad baguette but for some bizarre reason you have stopped doing them! Scandalous!"
