Nothing confirms what's replacing the Glyph LEDs on the Phone (3)
A short while back, Nothing announced that the upcoming Phone (3) will not have its Glyph LEDs on the back, a feature that has quickly become a trademark of the brand. Ever since that moment, speculation ensued that the Glyph LEDs would be replaced with a dot-matrix display. And now, the company itself has confirmed this. It will be branded Glyph Matrix, undoubtedly to be billed as the next logical evolution of Glyph - and it makes sense, as a dot-matrix display will be much more customizable than a simple array of LEDs dotted through random parts of the phone's rear. When light becomes the Glyph Matrix. Phone (3). 1 July. — Nothing (@nothing) June 19, 2025 As you can see in the teaser video above, the dot-matrix display seems to be positioned in the top right side of the Nothing Phone (3)'s rear, which makes us think the camera island won't be centered, but left-aligned - otherwise it would make for a very odd look. So that leaked render from a while back? Maybe take it with some extra salt in light of this. Nothing has already confirmed that the Phone (3) is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, and that it will get five major Android OS updates and seven years of security updates. The device will be unveiled at a special event in London on July 1, alongside the Nothing Headphone (1).

Google Messages just got RCS tags, notification snoozing, and custom group chat icons
Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority TL;DR Google has started rolling out the new Google Messages features announced last week. The messaging app now lets users customize RCS group chat icons and snooze notifications. It has also received new RCS tags for the New chat page and a 'Delete for everyone' option for RCS chats. Google announced a couple of new features for its messaging app last week, including an RCS group chat icon customization option, RCS tags for contacts, and notification snoozing. Although the company did not share a release timeline for these features at the time, they're now reaching users with Google Messages version 20250528_00_RC00 (via 9to5Google). Google Messages users are finally getting the ability to customize RCS group chat icons, several months after we first spotted the feature in a teardown. As we showcased earlier, this feature lets you upload a custom icon for RCS group chats or pick one from Google's Illustrations tool by tapping the new camera button next to the group chat icon. The latest Google Messages release also brings support for notification snoozing, allowing users to mute notifications from chats for 1 hour, 8 hours, 24 hours, or always. To do so, you can long-press on a chat and select the new Snooze icon. Chats that you snooze will be grayed out and display a snooze icon underneath the time and date. Google has also rolled out RCS tags for the New chat page, making it easier for users to tell whether a contact has RCS enabled. Additionally, the company has introduced a new 'Delete for everyone' option in RCS chats. These features bring Google Messages up to par with other popular messaging apps and should incentivize more users to finally make the switch to RCS. Got a tip? Talk to us! Hidden controls in latest QPR beta help Pixel users customize their lock screen clocks
The slider can be found in the updated Wallpaper & style app. Go to Settings > Wallpaper & style > Clock . You'll see the options for changing the look of the lock screen clock along with the slider directly underneath. Swipe your finger across the slider to see the different options you can choose from. The recently released Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 update adds another customization option that is hidden from Pixel users in the beta. This option allows you to choose between a "rounded" or a "sharp" font for the clock. This works only with the default clock. Once again go to Settings > Wallpaper & style > Clock . From the preview image of the default clock, long-press on the clock itself and you will see a notification that says either "Style changed to round" or "Style changed to sharp." Tapping on the clock will continually alternate between the "round" or "sharp" styles. New lock screen customization features for compatible Pixel models with Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 installed. | Image credit-PhoneArena To see the difference between the two styles, look at the numerals on the clock. The "sharp" image uses a straight line on the starting and ending points of the numerals while the "round" style uses, well, a rounded line at the spots where a numeral starts and ends. You might find the style of one of the two options more to your liking although it is such a minor customization that most people will prefer just to leave this alone. Now, in the unlikely event that these two lock screen clock customization features have you chomping at the bit to install the beta, I can tell you from personal experience that this is not the type of beta software that will brick your phone or take away your must-have features. Still, it is a beta so you should make sure to back up your data before loading it. You'll need to go to or tap on this link. When the Android Beta for Pixel site loads, tap on the rectangular "View your eligible devices" button. You'll be sent to a page with an image of your Pixel phone. Underneath that image will be a button to press to opt into the Android 16 QPR1 Beta. Tap it and after a few minutes go to Settings > System > Software update > System update . Follow the directions to install the update. Secure your connection now at a bargain price! We may earn a commission if you make a purchase Check Out The Offer
