'Bridgerton' star thought she was 'going to be killed' during terrifying robbery that left her traumatized

It's been months since "Bridgerton" actress Genevieve Chenneour fought off a thief who attempted to rob her. Now, the British star is opening up about the terrifying ordeal that left her permanently traumatized. In a new interview with The Times, the 27-year-old — who was in a London cafe when her phone was stolen off the table behind her in February — detailed the moment she instinctively decided to fight her assailant and the lasting impact the incident has had on her since then. As seen in footage obtained by Fox News Digital, 18-year-old Zacariah Boulares grabbed Chenneour's phone while the actress — who was accompanied by her then-boyfriend Carlo Kureishi — was sitting on a stool waiting for her drink order. After quickly realizing what had happened, Chenneour confronted the thief. "It was complete instinct," she told The Times. "I wouldn't advocate for anyone doing something that would put them at risk. "The footage everyone has seen was actually the tamest part," she added. "I got on his back while [Kureishi] was on the floor holding him down. Then he threatened to stab me, and I thought I was going to be killed. I was terrified." Chenneour said she was struck on the head and briefly lost consciousness during the ordeal. I had dizzy spells for weeks afterwards and I was terrified of going out alone," she admitted. "I still am." Boulares had 12 prior convictions, including for threatening to behead the Welsh singer Aled Jones with a 20-inch machete in July 2023, according to The Times. He had served just 14 months of a 24-month sentence for that crime. Boulares pleaded guilty last month when he appeared in Westminster magistrates court. "He needs to go to prison, and he needs psychological care," Chenneour told The Times. "If criminals are not rehabilitated properly they'll likely commit more — maybe worse — crimes." In the months following the incident, Chenneour — who is no longer in a relationship with Kureishi — said she hit "rock bottom." "After the phone incident and the break-up, I just hit rock bottom. Maybe this all has to happen so I can start afresh. It's been a major shock for me — and terrifying — but now I can prioritize my career, myself and my friends." Appearing on "This Morning" on June 12, Chenneour recalled the ordeal as becoming a matter of "life and death" at the time. "It kind of went round the corner, and it turned into a full-on scrap with two people [Boulares and his accomplice]," she said. "And I was threatened with being stabbed, so it became a real matter, in my mind, of life and death. "So, I did things like, I remember kicking him back with my leg to create space in case he had a weapon on him… It was just a life-changing, crazy moment," she added. The star admitted that the scuffle left her afraid to leave her home. "I didn't want to go outside," she said. "I mean, as a woman, we already, I think, have our wits about us around strangers and random men. So, to have this happen to me while dealing with that base level that a lot of women have, just made me quite agoraphobic. Leaving the house was really hard."

Kalgoorlie man whose arm was severed by samurai sword yet to make statement

A 40-year-old man whose arm was severed with a samurai sword during an alleged confrontation with his son in Western Australia's Goldfields has not provided any formal statement to police Jaxon Jai Trinidad, 19, allegedly used the sword to sever James Nybo's arm in Kalgoorlie, 600 kilometres east of Perth, in February. The 19-year-old has been charged with aggravated grievous bodily harm and three weapons-related charges. He did not enter pleas during his appearance in Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court on Monday. Defence counsel Max Crispe told the court he understood Mr Nybo did not want to provide a statement. The court had previously heard Mr Nybo had allegedly sent threatening and abusive text messages and was armed with a baseball bat when his arm was severed. The court has been told he was flown to Royal Perth Hospital after the sword cut through his bicep and completely severed his right arm. Mr Trinidad is due back in court on August 4. In February, police prosecutor Senior Constable Matthew Fullgrabe first detailed the allegations in court. He told the court Mr Trinidad had heard a commotion towards the front of the house and grabbed the samurai sword he had "recently purchased". He said Mr Trinidad unsheathed the sword and was "holding it to scare" his father, who he told to "f*** off". The court heard Mr Nybo allegedly used the baseball bat to smash the window of a car as the confrontation moved onto the street verge out the front of the house. At this point, Mr Fullgrabe told the court, Mr Nybo "raised the bat above his head about to strike" when the sword severed his arm. The court heard the sword cut through the right bicep area and the arm "fell on the road". "The accused panicked and ran inside, leaving the victim bleeding profusely on the road," Mr Fullgrabe said. The court was told Mr Trinidad left the weapon at the house and fled the scene, hiding at an abandoned rail yard while his father presented to Kalgoorlie Health Campus before collapsing at reception. Mr Trinidad turned himself into Kalgoorlie police station the next day. During his last court hearing, his lawyer Max Crispe said his client had tried to be the voice of reason on the day of the incident. He argued his client was acting in self-defence after urging his father to be "rational". Magistrate William Yoo granted Mr Trinidad home detention bail in March, labelling Mr Trinidad a "reluctant participant" in the incident.

Police charge 2 suspects after man shot by police in southeast Calgary

Calgary police have charged two men following a confrontation on Friday that led to one of the men being shot multiple times by police. Shortly after midnight on Friday, two plain-clothed officers were travelling in an unmarked car when another vehicle passed them. A passenger in the vehicle allegedly pointed a handgun at the officers, according to a news release from the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT). A police helicopter, canine unit and other officers were brought in, and a traffic stop was conducted in the 600 block of 25 Avenue S.E., in the Manchester Industrial area, police said. One man fled from the vehicle and was pursued by patrol officers. Police said a "confrontation" occurred, and one officer fired their gun. The suspect was hit with "multiple shots," according to ASIRT. He was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition, which was later upgraded to life-altering, but stable. ASIRT said a 3D-printed gun with .22-calibre rounds was found in his possession after he was shot. Tomy Loranger, 32, is facing multiple weapons-related charges from the incident, including pointing a firearm, assaulting a peace officer with a weapon and possession of a firearm contrary to an order. ASIRT said the vehicle's other occupants stayed in the car and followed police commands. Another man has been charged with breach of a release order because of the incident. All attending officers were wearing body-worn cameras, according to ASIRT, and the police watchdog has been directed to investigate the shooting. Loranger is scheduled to appear in court on June 13.
