'No One Has Ever!': Jimmy Kimmel Trolls Trump By Exposing His 'Ultimate' Move

Jimmy Kimmel said President Donald Trump has a go-to move when it comes to big decisions: stall for time. The president went to it again this week while trying to decide on military intervention in Iran. 'Trump gave Iran what he called the 'ultimate ultimatum,' which is kind of like the 'final finale,' but scarier,' Kimmel said. 'He really enjoys making threats, and he loves attaching them to timelines.' Trump said he'd make a decision on Iran within two weeks. 'It's always two weeks,' Kimmel pointed out. 'For a guy whose catchphrase was 'You're fired,' no one has ever given more two weeks' notice than Donald J. Trump.' Kimmel rolled a minute-long supercut video of Trump promising various things within two weeks, ending with a vow to sign a new health care plan into law ― also in two weeks. 'That was July 19, 2020,' Kimmel noted. 'We're still waiting for him to sign that health care plan, and on almost all of the other stuff, too.' See more in his Thursday night monologue:

Cardiff killers and mystery men in this months popular fiction: JULIE TUDOR IS NOT A PSYCHOPATH by Jennifer Holdich, A BEAUTIFUL FAMILY by Jennifer Trevelyan, PRIVATE LIVES by Emily Edwards

Julie Tudor is Not a Psychopath is available now from the Mail Bookshop JULIE TUDOR IS NOT A PSYCHOPATH by Jennifer Holdich (Hodder £20, 320pp) I LOVED this brilliant Cardiffset comic debut. Admin worker Julie is obsessed with her colleague Sean. But he does not return her passion so she eliminates the competition, not once, but several times. His wife, girlfriend and subsequently Sean himself meet what, to everyone else, are mysterious ends. Julie herself tells the story from her own highly selective point of view, also revealing some of her worrying early influences. A great cast of secondary characters – office workers, neighbours, random tramps – add to the fun. Serious Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine vibes and just as hilarious, sad and disturbing. I predict a monster hit. A BEAUTIFUL FAMILY by Jennifer Trevelyan (Pan Macmillan £16.99, 288pp) WE'RE in 1980s New Zealand, on the holiday from hell with ten-year-old Alix, her parents and older sister Vanessa. The rented house is bleakly horrid, overlooked by a voyeuristic neighbour, and after meeting a friend from school in the local shopping mall, Vanessa has started shoplifting and flirting. To add to the fun, Alix's mother is up to something with the dad of another schoolfriend, which precipitates some violent reactions Oh, and a child died at the resort a few years previously, so Alix wants to try and find the body. She tells the tale through half-comprehending childhood eyes, but we can piece it together. Atmospheric, disturbing and beautifully evoked. PRIVATE LIVES by Emily Edwards (Penguin £18.99, 352pp) HEADMASTER Seb has a secret – he once bought a sex worker's services. Said worker unknowingly moves to the posh south-coast town where his school is. Entirely by accident, she becomes good friends with his wife. The cat emerges from the bag once busybody Anna gets involved and moral panic breaks loose among the schoolgate parents. Can Seb face them down, and save his job and family? But the consequences don't stop there; Anna's own marriage is drawn into the cycle of destruction. Just who, the novel asks, is the villain here? A great premise and plot with lots of emotion.

‘Bride Hard' is neither ‘Bridesmaids' nor ‘Die Hard.' Discuss.

Because movie critics should be up front with their biases, I will confess to a long-standing allergy to Rebel Wilson, the Australian comic actress whose entire shtick has consisted of her being 'subversively' gross and sticking out her tongue like a cut-rate succubus. I'm of the cohort that has never found Wilson funny — not once — but she's kept it going for an admittedly impressive 15 years since her American debut in 2010's 'Bridesmaids.'

He Laughed Along With Larry David and Borat. Until He Didn't.

Early in Larry Charles's juicy showbiz memoir 'Comedy Samurai,' he describes a formative moment writing for the television sketch show 'Fridays.' Andy Kaufman was doing a bit with a masked magician swallowing a sword, only to spit up blood. 'These were the laughs, the comedy, that I would try to pursue all my life,' Charles writes. 'The deeper codes of comedy.' His book, a must-read for comedy nerds, is an account of nearly half of a century attempting to crack those codes, mostly as a director and writer, working with the most famous funny people in show business (Mel Brooks, Jerry Seinfeld) and some of its most notorious bullies (Scott Rudin, the Weinstein brothers). Charles, 68, describes them all with entertaining candor, while also illuminating the creation of several of the greatest comedies of the modern era, including 'Seinfeld' (he wrote for the first five seasons), 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' (he directed episodes for two decades) and 'Borat,' which he directed. His career, which began by selling a joke to Jay Leno, is a pocket history of modern comedy, anchored by surprisingly melancholy portraits of his two most fertile artistic relationships — with Larry David and Sacha Baron Cohen. In a recent interview over Zoom, he reflected on the path from Coney Island to Hollywood. You grew up in Trump Village, a then new housing complex in Coney Island built by the President's father, Fred. You meet him? Want all of The Times? Subscribe.
