Wednesday's weather: Cold conditions with damaging waves, winds in some regions

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has forecast damaging waves and winds in parts of the Western Cape and Eastern Cape. Rain is expected in the east of KwaZulu-Natal. Impact-based warnings Yellow level 2 warning: damaging waves expected between Saldanha Bay and East London. This may lead to difficult navigation for small vessels, the risk of water intake, and localised disruption to beachfront activities. Yellow level 1 warning: damaging winds are expected between Cape Point and East London, causing challenges for small vessels, including the potential of taking on water and dragging anchors. In SAWS' colour-coded weather warning system, yellow indicates a moderate risk of impact that requires caution and awareness, while orange indicates that a higher-risk impact is expected, requiring increased attention and preparation. SAWS uses the numbers to indicate the likelihood of weather-based impacts occurring. Levels 2 and 6 are high, and Level 4 is low.
