Honda Has a New Plan To Support Its Aging Classics Like the NSX

The latest car news, reviews, and features. In Japan, Honda's been running an 'NSX Refresh Plan' for customers to get early NSXs fixed by factory specialists since 1993. That program's being sunsetted this year, and replaced with a new strategy to maintain support for the first-gen NSX and other high-tier Hondas. There might not be many OEM '90s NSX parts left on shelves, but Honda is not going to give up on its aging classics. Honda's announcement about this, which Google translated from Japanese for me, introduced me to a term I'd never heard: 'Genuine Compatible Parts.' Not quite OEM, but not aftermarket either, Honda will be making new classic car parts with a mix of approved suppliers, 3D printing, and good old-fashioned remanufacturing of old parts. I'm too broke to buy an NSX, but I love the idea of a program like this. As we learned recently, 3D printing is unlocking huge potential for classic car restoration. We've already seen some great cottage-industry innovation in reverse-engineering no-longer-available car parts—it makes total sense for automakers themselves to reverse-engineer their own parts and re-make them to a high standard using 3D printing. As Honda officially stated (again, translated): 'With the cooperation of various business partners, we have been considering the production of alternative parts for parts that we can no longer produce and supply. Furthermore, with the advancement of technologies such as remanufacturing and 3D printing, the range of possibilities for new manufacturing and procurement methods for the continued supply of parts is expanding.' Sounds like Honda will be offering parts directly to customers, as well as a new restoration service for customers in Japan. I guess if you're a real NSX nut in another country, you could ship your car to the land of the rising sun for this treatment. But it doesn't sound like Honda will be setting up a restoration center elsewhere. Theoretically, the parts could be shipped anywhere, though. These Genuine Compatible Parts and the full factory restoration services will be available in Japan starting in the spring of next year, with more details to be made public this fall. If you're wondering about price, that's probably something we'll find out later this year. NSX parts were never cheap, so don't count on bargains. The automaker is only offering this level of support for the NSX for now, but the Japanese announcement did say, 'In the future, the service will be expanded to other sports-type vehicles.' I would expect some Type R vehicles and the S2000 will be on the list at some point, too. Maybe a Honda Beat restoration program? Anybody? Got a tip? Send us a note at tips@

Vesco-Salvinelli lead the classification after the first 14 trials BRESCIA, Italy, June 17, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- After entering the Veneto area by crossing Peschiera del Garda, the crews of the 1000 Miglia 2025 continued towards Verona, thus returning to Piazza Bra after a two-year absence, in front of the Arena of Verona. Next up was Bovolone, a town in the Veneto plain which hosted a Passage Control and a Time Control. After the updated classification at the Time Trials of Sirmione, Andrea Vesco and Fabio Salvinelli are in the lead with their 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C, followed by Bertoli-Vavassori in a 1925 O.M 665 Superba and by Belometti-Bergomi in a 1929 Lancia Lambda Spider Tipo 221. In Stienta, along the banks of the Po, the stopwatches started again with a series of 10 trials, the last ones of this leg of the 1000 Miglia 2025. Before stopping for dinner, the drivers and co-drivers will parade through the city centre of Ferrara, immersing themselves in the Renaissance charm of Corso Ercole I d'Este, before taking in the beauty of the Estense Castle and parking in Piazza Trento e Trieste. Here there will be the Time Control marking the start of the last section of today's race, which will take the convoy to the finish line in San Lazzaro di Savena (Bologna). Hollywood A-lister's classic Aston Martin on sale for £120k – but who was its famous owner?

A HOLLYWOOD A-lister is selling his classic Aston Martin for £120,000. Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom's eye-catching 1971 DBS V8 was the fastest production four-seater car in the world when first made. 5 5 5 The star nabbed the vehicle from an unnamed British musician and made frequent use of its blistering 320 brake horsepower. The motor can clock as high as 150mph and go from zero to 62 mph in seven seconds. Bloom is best known for his roles as Legolas The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Will Turner in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. It will go under the hammer at RM Sotheby's at Cliveden House on 8 July. The listing reads: "First revealed in September 1969, the DBS V8 can trace its roots directly to the fabled DB model lineage that defined Aston Martin until the DB6 was phased out in 1970. "Company bosses viewed the DBS as a direct replacement for the DB6, while production overlapped after the former was launched in 1967. "Like the DB6, the earliest examples of the DBS were powered by a 4.0-litre inline-six engine, until the offering was revamped to make way for the DBS V8, the engine that Aston Martin had always intended for the model. "The example offered here is recorded to have been delivered to its first owner on 20 January 1971, having been first registered with the DVLA one week prior. "The DBS V8 was configured in Platinum over a Black Connolly leather interior complemented by Black carpets and Grey headlining. "It was specified with an automatic transmission, MPH speedometer by Smiths, and shod with Pirelli Radial tyres. Car graveyard with 300 classic vehicles abandoned in field goes up for sale – some can be driven straight from lot "Its first owner was Mr Hambleton of Cardiff, Wales. "While its subsequent earlier history is not documented, it was subsequently acquired by a notable British musician, who instructed that the car was repainted in its original colours by Bedworth Classic Cars in 2012. "From then, the Aston Martin entered the care of its consigning owner, Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom, from whom the DBS V8 is offered directly. "The sleek 1970s coupé retains its matching-numbers V-8 engine, as verified by a copy of the factory build sheet. "In June 2025 the car was serviced and gained new spark plugs. "As the fastest production four-seater car in the world at the time of its launch, the DBS V8 occupies a special place in Aston Martin's history. "This example more than lives up to the legend, and is all-the-more appealing when offered from the private collection of a legend of modern cinema." 5 5

1966 Dodge D100 Town Wagon Is Our Bring a Trailer Auction PIck

An ancestor to the Durango, the Dodge Town Wagon was one of the forerunners of today's SUVs. This example is as original, simple, and honest as a truck gets. Whether you're taking surfboards to the beach or camping gear to the cabin, this big Dodge has all the room you'll need. Now well over decade old, the Dodge Durango feels more than a little old school, but then again, that's part of its charm. However, if you want some really old-fashioned and rugged appeal, you need to wind the clock back further: with a Dodge Town Wagon. Courtesy: Bring a Trailer This Dodge Town Wagon is up for sale on Bring a Trailer (which, like Car and Driver, is part of Hearst Autos), and although it hails from the 1960s, it actually looks like it's from the 1950s. This D100 Town Wagon is a truck-based utility vehicle, and like a contemporary Chevy/GMC Suburban or International Travelall, was a precursor to the modern SUV. Town Wagons are rare, and this example's even rarer for being in original condition, running the same slant-six it left the factory with. It even rolls on factory steel wheels with Dodge-logo hub caps. Courtesy: Bring a Trailer In the 1960s, most families relied on sedans or station wagons. But despite the growing network of interstates, there were some roads that'd scrape the driveshaft right out of something like an Impala. If your family had a backwoods cottage down a bumpy forestry road, then something like this might fit the bill. Courtesy: Bring a Trailer This big galoot of a truck is basically a passenger-carrying version of Dodge's panel van of the time. This example has two rows of bench seating, and even with a spare tire tucked inside, the cargo space is massive. You can just imagine it crammed with camping gear for a summer spent at some lonely cabin. Courtesy: Bring a Trailer The 225-cubic-inch Slant-six made 140 horsepower (gross) and 215 pound-feet of torque when new. The transmission is a good ol' three-on-the-tree manual. Some mechanical work has been done here and there, including seals, a rebuilt carburetor, and servicing the brakes and the clutch. The slant-six is known as a very durable engine, and this truck will loaf around town all day. Courtesy: Bring a Trailer It's not a woodie, but if you've been playing the Beach Boys all week because of the recent passing of Brian Wilson, then here's one sun-kissed surf wagon that's ready to go. The modern Durango can keep its special editions and Hemi V-8 firepower. A Dodge Town Wagon is the way to get around, round, round, get around. The auction ends on June 18.
