Monster 300kg croc pulled from village drain in N. Sembilan
KUALA LUMPUR, June 13 — The Negeri Sembilan Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) has successfully captured a 'giant' crocodile that was found lost in a drain in Kampung Permatang Pasir, Linggi yesterday. The three-metre-long reptile was first spotted by members of the public at around 1.45pm, who then alerted the state Perhilitan office, according to a report published by Kosmo! Online. According to Negeri Sembilan Perhilitan director Faizal Izham Pikri, further investigation at the site revealed the male saltwater crocodile in a drain near a coconut plantation. 'The operation to capture the reptile involved three Perhilitan personnel with assistance from 10 officers from the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Port Dickson. 'The male crocodile is estimated to weigh around 300 kilogrammes. It is believed to have come from Sungai Linggi and has since been relocated to Paya Indah Wetlands in Dengkil, Selangor,' he told reporters today.

Runaway Zebra Recaptured in Tennessee County
The search for a runaway pet zebra that had evaded capture for nearly a week in Rutherford County, Tenn., has come to an end. The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, which had been searching for the animal that residents named Ed, said in a statement on Sunday that the zebra had been recaptured and returned to its owner. In a video the sheriff's office posted on Facebook, the zebra's head and legs can be seen dangling from inside a net as it spun in the sky while being airlifted by a yellow helicopter. The authorities said that the intrepid zebra was found was in a pasture near Interstate 24. The owner of the zebra — whose identity has not been released — got the animal on May 30 and had it for less than a day before it escaped the next morning, the sheriff's office said in an earlier statement. How the zebra escaped or why the man owned it was still not immediately clear, but dispatchers received a report on May 31 that a zebra had been spotted darting in traffic on Interstate 24. 'This is the first zebra to escape in Rutherford County as far as I know in the 43 years I lived here,' Lisa Marchesoni, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office, said on Sunday. He had escaped into a wooded area and disappeared until it was spotted Thursday, the authorities said. On Friday, a police drone spotted the zebra dashing through a field near Christiana, a community about 40 miles south of Nashville. Drivers on Interstate 24 also saw him scamper across east and westbound lanes on Saturday, the sheriff's office said. On Sunday morning, deputies worked with the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency to find the zebra. With several sightings of the zebra in the area, social media lit up with memes and images generated by artificial intelligence of the animal, including one that dressed him in a Middle Tennessee State University hat and T-shirt.

Escaped zebra captured in Rutherford County after more than a week on the loose
An elusive zebra who's evaded capture in Middle Tennessee for more than a week has finally been captured. The fugitive zebra — who had been nicknamed 'Ed' by the social media users tracking his escapades — has been on the loose since May 31. Eight days later, the zebra was finally captured in a field in Christiana, south of Murfreesboro in Rutherford County. Earlier in the weekend, law enforcement officials were tracking the zebra with a drone. Those efforts paid off on June 8 — News Channel 5 reports that the zebra was hit with a tranquilizer dart, then strapped in and airlifted via helicopter to be returned to captivity and seen by a veterinarian. It's been a busy week since the zebra escaped from the home of a Rutherford County couple the night of May 31. Ed's runaway journey has taken him everywhere from neighborhood streets to a parkway near Interstate 24, about 35 miles south of downtown Nashville. That spawned plenty of memes, jokes and amusement overall as Tennesseans pored over videos of the zebra plodding through suburban cul-de-sacs and galloping along country highways. Now, there's one more rare sight to add to the list — of the zebra soaring through the air, tethered to the helicopter, with just its head poking out of the bag used to execute the airlift. Notorious 'Devil in the Ozarks' finally caught after weeks-long manhunt that drew multiple agencies
Escapee Grant Hardin, a convicted murderer and rapist who sparked a multi-agency manhunt after fleeing custody last month, has been captured. Nicknamed the "Devil in the Ozarks," Hardin was apprehended this afternoon approximately 1.5 miles north-northwest of the North Central Unit prison facility from which he escaped on May 25, the Izard County Sheriff's Office said. Hardin's identity was confirmed through fingerprint analysis prior to the department's announcement of his long-awaited capture. Officials said that he was taken into custody without incident, ending a weeks-long manhunt that had drawn in local law enforcement, state police, federal agencies, and elite tactical units. The capture of the fugitive came after authorities focused their search in the rugged, remote terrain surrounding the prison grounds. Hardin, 56, was serving an 80-year sentence for the 2017 murder of James Appleton and a previously unsolved 1997 rape case. Hardin escaped prison through a sally port, wearing a makeshift ADC-style uniform, ADC communications director Rand Champion said last week, noting the uniform he was wearing was not official. In a statement, the Izard County Sheriff's Office thanked the public and the law enforcement community for their ongoing support and vigilance during the manhunt. "We sincerely appreciate the continued support of the community for all law enforcement personnel involved in this operation," the department said. Officials have not yet released further details regarding how Hardin was located or whether he received any outside assistance during his escape. Investigations into the security breach remain ongoing.
