Train passengers have been warned they could be mistakenly overcharged for their journeys until late issue has been affecting people using contactless payments on some c2c services between Essex and refunds were being arranged for those who had been charged an additional £3 per trip, the train operator expected the situation to be resolved by 29 June. RAIL operator, c2c, has issued an apology to customers who have been overcharged on journeys between south Essex stations and London. Due to a reported technical issue, some customers using contactless payments have been overcharged by up to £3 per journey. c2c has said that it is working with Transport for London to resolve the issue and have advised passengers to purchase paper or e-tickets to ensure the fare is correct. "Due to an unforeseen technical issue, c2c is aware that customers using pay as you go with contactless ticketing for journeys between c2c stations outside the Oyster Zone (beyond Upminster and Grays) and Fenchurch Street or Liverpool Street from Sunday June 8, are being overcharged by up to £3 per journey," said a spokesperson for c2c. "This only applies to journeys that either started or ended at Fenchurch Street or Liverpool Street stations. "c2c is working closely with Transport for London to resolve the issue and, in the meantime, customers are advised to purchase paper or e-tickets instead of using contactless (for journeys that start or end at Fenchurch Street or Liverpool Street stations) to ensure they are charged the correct fare. "c2c would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience this technical issue is causing. "Customers are advised to keep a full record of all contactless journeys where they have been overcharged, and a further update, including details of how to claim a refund, will be shared as soon as possible." Contactless ticketing has been significantly expanded across the c2c network in recent months, with the rail operator celebrating high-use since roll-out.

RAIL lines have reopened between Pitsea and West Horndon following an earlier signalling fault on c2c network. Significant disruption was expected due to the fault, with the rail operator now warning that some delays may remain. A spokesperson for c2c said: "Following a fault with the signalling system between Pitsea and West Horndon the line is now open. Disruption is expected until 08:15 09/06. Greater Anglia is currently conveying passengers via any reasonable route until further notice with arrangements made for c2c rail tickets to be accepted on these journeys.
