Android 16 for Pixels brings too many bugs for a 'stable' update, but at least one is getting fixed
Joe Maring / Android Authority TL;DR Android 16 is causing a very annoying bug where Pixel phones take too long to wake up. Google is aware of the issue and is working on a fix, and temporary workarounds are also available. This is one of several bugs reported by users after the Android 16 update, but there are many more, including freezing lock screens and unresponsive gestures. Android 16 is the flavor of the season, and Pixel owners are already enjoying the latest Baklava update. Granted, plenty of headline features are missing from this release, but there are still enough changes in here to call Android 16 a big update to the platform. Unfortunately for some Pixel owners, this update is also bringing in new bugs, like this annoying one where the phone takes too long to wake up. Google is aware of this and is working on a fix for it, but there seem to be plenty more that need highlighting. Pixel phones are slow to wake up after Android 16 Reddit user jdawg0024 highlighted that waking up their Pixel 9 Pro XL has become unreliable after updating to Android 16. Their phone stays unresponsive for about five seconds every time they try to wake the display, either by double-tapping the display or by pressing the power button. The phone functions normally once it has woken up, but if the screen turns off again, the issue repeats itself. As you can imagine, this does sound very annoying. It's the kind of bug that negatively impacts the user experience in a very noticeable way, but not enough to become a dealbreaker, so most people carry on using their device but stay frustrated. Plenty of other users chimed in to affirm that they are facing the same issue, and we can see many others complaining across multiple Reddit threads. For what it's worth, we couldn't reproduce the issue across a couple of Pixel devices on Android 16, including a Pixel 9 Pro XL. The official PixelCommunity account responded to the complaint, advising the user to reboot their device to fix the issue temporarily: We are aware of this issue and a fix will be released in the coming weeks. For the time being, you can reboot your device to temporarily fix the issue. Some users suggest disabling Tap to check phone and Lift to check phone in Settings > Display & touch > Lock screen, then restarting your device and re-enabling both features. This seemingly fixes the issue, though some users also say it only does so temporarily. Still, you can try it and see if it works for you. The Android 16 update appears to bring a lot of new bugs This isn't the only bug that users are facing with Android 16, though, but it's the one that is the most widespread. Based on scores of user reports across Reddit and X, we could also gather that users are facing the following issues with the Android 16 update: Lock screen frequently freezes Slow/unresponsive fingerprint unlock Unresponsive screen gestures Erratic auto-brightness Erratic/unresponsive proximity sensor Auto-rotate stops working Apps freezing and not responding to touch input Camera freezes, often requiring multiple shutter button taps to take a photo Android Auto drops connection Circle to Search stops working For most of these issues, restarting the device temporarily fixes the problem. As part of the troubleshooting steps, you could attempt a factory reset to see if the issues are resolved, though remember to back up your data, as it will all get wiped. If problems persist, you can consider rolling back to Android 15 and wait for the next stable release that hopefully fixes the issues. You can and should also file a bug report with Google to add your voice to the complaints. These expensive phones are getting a 'stable' update after an extensive beta program, so such a long list of bugs is unacceptable. Got a tip? Talk to us! Email our staff at Email our staff at news@ . A fix is on the way for Android 16's broken navigation buttons and gestures
Paul Jones / Android Authority TL;DR Some Android 16 users have been dealing with an issue that causes navigation buttons and gestures to become temporarily unresponsive. Google has reportedly fixed this bug internally. The fix is expected to roll out in the next update. The stable build of Android 16 has been available for Pixel devices for a week now. While it has been smooth sailing for the most part, some users have run into bugs. One such bug negatively impacts navigation buttons and gestures, but we won't have to wait too much longer for a fix to arrive. Recently, there have been reports about an issue with Android 16 that temporarily renders navigation buttons and gestures unresponsive. However, for some users, the bug only causes a bit of lag between input and execution. It's unclear just how widespread the bug is, but it appears to affect all Pixel models and is said to happen randomly. Thankfully, it seems Google was quick to act on this problem. According to Android Police founder Artem Russakovskii, Google says the navigation bug has now been fixed internally. Although the fix isn't available publicly yet, it will reportedly roll out in the next update. If you're still dealing with this problem, there are some workarounds you can use until the fix arrives. One option is to switch to a different launcher app or clear the Pixel launcher's data and cache. Rebooting the device also apparently works for some users. Got a tip? Talk to us! After 13 Years The ‘Dota 2' Spring Forward Patch Fixes Its Oldest Bugs
Dota's oldest bug gets fixed. A major new Dota 2 patch, known as the Spring Forward update, has launched and it fixes some of the most annoying issues in the game, including one bug that has been around for 13 years. The new update is mostly focused on fixing issues and adding major quality of life improvements, which players will no doubt be very tankful for given how long it has been since we had a patch like this that deals with some of the smaller but annoying issues in the client. However, the biggest talking point is the fact that a 13 year old bug with neutral creeps has been fixed. The bug, which at this point many assumed was a feature, saw neutral camps replay their death animations if you gained vision a short time after they had been taken down. This indicated the camp had recently been farmed, meaning many thought it was extra information for players, but it has actually been a bug that hasn't been fixed for 13 years, until now. Elsewhere, the update adds some major quality of life changes such as improved performance, a new UI for settings, and more information about items and your team's items being available easily. As far as quality of life patches go, this is one of the biggest we have seen in years, which is no doubt going to greatly improve Dota 2 as a whole. Another area to get major changes is the Ability Draft game mode, which now gets heroes to draft as well as abilities, as well as major additions that have been missing such as facets and, of course, a ton of bug fixes. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder Rounding out the update are the 7.39 patch notes, which bring a ton of balance changes to heroes and some new neutral items to play with. A big focus seems to have been tweaking or removing facets that have made some heroes very strong, while buffing ones that get little use. The biggest examples include Nature's Prophet, Clockwerk and Monkey King, who all get brand new facets that will have a major impact on their pick rates. Other changes in the patch notes include some tweaks to the Dota 2 map, that while not major will change the way it feels to move around, and a massive list of new neutral items, including one that is almost like a free Divine Rapier that gives you more damage but effectively disappears when you die holding it. The full patch notes contain all the info you could possibly need.

Developers can finally pull that buggy app update from the Play Store
TL;DR Google will allow app developers to easily halt the release of their apps on the Play Store. Developers currently have no easy way to stop the release of their apps in the event of a major bug or other significant problem. This would also make life easier for users, as they wouldn't have to unwittingly download a problematic app update. The Google Play Store allows users to seamlessly update their apps, but developers sometimes issue updates with significant bugs. Unfortunately, there's no official way for them to stop this rollout, which means unaware users will continue to download the questionable update. Thankfully, Google has confirmed on the Android Developers Blog that app developers will soon be able to stop app and update releases via the Play Console and publishing API. Google says this will allow developers to 'stop the distribution of problematic versions to new users.' This would be a welcome change as developers who opted for a '100%' release of their app would have no way to halt the rollout if they discovered a major bug or other significant issue. One apparent workaround was to set the release percentage to a lower figure (e.g. 99.9%), which would still allow you to stop the update. This functionality would be very convenient for users as they might not be aware that the update for their favorite app has bugs or other problems. The feature could also be particularly useful for people who set their phones to automatically download the latest app updates from the Play Store. Got a tip? Talk to us!
