SaaS looking beyond North America to openings in developing regions: Zoho executive

Live Events The software-as-a-service (SaaS) industry is increasingly looking at diversifying outside North America, not just because of tariff-related uncertainties and a slowdown in developed markets, but also due to opportunities emerging from digitisation in developing regions which are typically underserved by large technology firms, a senior Zoho Corp executive like India and Latin America, for instance, are growing at double the rate of the global average, said Rajesh Ganesan , chief executive of Zoho's enterprise IT management solutions arm, ManageEngine 'The revenue share or the momentum of growth from North America, from the UK, Canada, Australia sort of slowed down in calendar year 2023 and 2024,' Ganesan told ET, adding that regions like India, the Middle East, Latin America and Southeast Asia drove the growth for the company over the past two is also a growing opportunity in riding the 'compliance wave' as IT systems have to align with an increasing number of digital privacy regulations, from the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation to India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act and Brazil's General Data Protection it comes to AI, there is a lot of interest from enterprises, but adoption of the technology still lags because of unclear use cases alongside regulatory uncertainties and a lack of techniques for ensuring access control and traceability of data in existing models, Ganesan this is solved, sensitive sectors like BFSI, healthcare and pharmaceuticals will find it hard to take the leap with AI despite the potential benefits, he will not 'die' because of AI, he said; however, the way SaaS is architected will have to evolve to adapt to the new realities, said Ganesan."Now, in addition to humans, you are going to have a lot of autonomous AI agents, so you need to change the architect of your SaaS applications to be able to deal with the situation. That is the reality, and for which the clarity doesn't exist today,' he said.

Zoho launches AI-powered Ulaa Enterprise browser to strengthen Cybersecurity for Businesses in the Middle East

Muscat: Zoho Corp., a leading global technology company, today announced the launch of Ulaa Enterprise, a new secure enterprise browser designed to help businesses in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region enhance their cybersecurity posture amid escalating threats—particularly phishing attacks, which have emerged as the region's most pervasive cybersecurity concern. As MENA organisations embrace cloud solutions, the browser has become the primary workspace—and the largest attack surface. Ulaa Enterprise secures this critical access point by embedding protection directly into the browser, eliminating the need for complex third-party tools or virtual environments. The browser's AI capabilities, powered by Zoho's proprietary AI engine Zia, provide an additional layer of intelligent protection. Equipped with an integrated ZeroPhish system, it analyses URLs and web page behaviour in real-time to detect and block phishing attempts before users even interact with malicious links. Zia also categorises and filters unsafe web content automatically, creating a safer and more compliant browsing experience without disrupting employee productivity. 'It's uncommon for businesses to consider investing in paid browsers as part of their security strategy. However, with the sharp rise in cyberattacks across the MENA—particularly those stemming from unsafe and unsecured browsing—this mindset is shifting. Ulaa Enterprise was built specifically for organisations that want to strengthen their first line of defence, enhance cybersecurity hygiene, and safeguard both their data and their customers' trust.' said Saran B Paramasivam, Regional Director MEA, Zoho. According to Gartner, 25% of organisations will implement at least one secure enterprise browser (SEB) technology by 2028 to supplement their existing secure remote access and endpoint protection strategies. Ulaa Enterprise offers IT and security teams complete visibility and granular control over browser activity. Administrators can centrally define security policies, restrict downloads and extensions, monitor user behaviour, and enforce rules across different departments or user groups—all from a single console. Built-in data loss prevention measures ensure that sensitive information cannot be shared, copied, or downloaded without authorisation, while detailed audit logs and real-time monitoring allow teams to act quickly and decisively against potential threats. Ulaa Enterprise is designed for usability across all levels of an organisation, offering a seamless experience for both IT teams and general employees. It requires minimal IT overhead, with lightweight deployment and instant policy propagation—eliminating the need for complex virtual infrastructure. Built on the Chromium framework, Ulaa Enterprise offers a familiar interface while enforcing built-in, local security checks for speed and protection. It also delivers full cross-platform support, working smoothly across major desktop and mobile operating systems, including Android and iOS. This launch comes at a time of rapid momentum for Ulaa, with downloads and monthly active users increasing by 2.5 times since 2023—signalling growing global demand for secure, privacy-focused browsing solutions. The browser enables businesses in MENA to modernise their browser security infrastructure quickly and cost-effectively. It eliminates the need for multiple external security tools and delivers native protection that's tightly integrated, easy to manage, and highly responsive to today's threats.

Zoho launches AI-powered project management solution

Zoho Corp., a leading global technology company, has launched Projects Plus, a new, collaborative platform designed to simplify and enhance project management for mid-sized and large businesses across the Middle East and North Africa region. With native integration tools like Zoho Projects, WorkDrive, Analytics, and Sprints, Projects Plus streamlines project workflows, file management, real-time business intelligence, and flexible collaboration, supporting both flexible 'Agile' and structured 'Waterfall' project management methodologies, said Zoho Corp in a statement. Building on the success of Zoho Projects, which saw rapid growth in 2024 with 55% of new users migrating from tools like Microsoft Project and JIRA, Projects Plus addresses the operational complexities faced by organisations in the region. Zoho Projects is one of the company's top-selling products in UAE with an annual revenue increase of 33% since 2023 and the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region is the product's fastest-growing market globally. Projects Plus, now a platform, expands across four key areas: data democratisation, AI, hybrid project management, and collaborative work management, it stated. "Like many of our enterprise solutions, Zoho Projects Plus was developed to deliver supreme value and meet the needs our customers had been demonstrating within our software suite, particularly between Zoho Projects and Zoho Analytics," remarked Hyther Nizam, the President Middle East and Africa (MEA), Zoho. "Projects Plus synthesises the latest AI-driven tools, data-first analytics, and privacy-focused protections into software that anticipates the evolving needs of international Enterprise organisations, expanding Zoho's global reach," stated Nizam. Zoho's Projects Plus platform takes project management to the next level by embracing data-driven project management, shifting away from intuition-based decision-making to a data and analytics-driven approach. By leveraging data from various aspects like time tracking, budgeting, task completion, and team performance, Projects Plus transforms this information into actionable insights. Key features include predictive analysis to forecast risks, estimate timelines, and plan resources more efficiently. This proactive approach allows businesses to manage project outcomes and mitigate risks before they arise, said the statement. Additionally, Projects Plus offers real-time progress tracking and bottleneck analysis, replacing traditional static tools with dynamic dashboards that provide up-to-the-minute project status updates. With features like quality control analytics, it ensures that deliverables meet predefined standards throughout the project lifecycle, further enhancing efficiency. The platform's integration with Zoho's AI engine, Zia, adds advanced AI and machine learning capabilities to automate complex data analysis. Zia helps project managers make smarter decisions by offering predictive insights and optimising key aspects of project management, said Zoho Corp in its statement. This includes improved efficiency and productivity by identifying bottlenecks, smarter resource allocation by matching skills to tasks, and more accurate forecasting and planning to avoid delays and cost overruns, it added. -TradeArabia News Service Copyright 2024 Al Hilal Publishing and Marketing Group Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc.
