Samsung is launching an Ultra folding phone – and it could be arriving very soon
If you've been waiting for Samsung to release its next bendy phones, your wait might be over sooner than you think. This year, we're expecting an Ultra folding model for the first time, alongside regular refreshes in the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip line-up. A report from reliable leaker Evleaks points to 9 July as the date for the next Galaxy Unpacked launch. That's the event where we're expecting Samsung to show off the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. Given last year's foldables got their debut on 10 July, this leak doesn't feel like much of a stretch. Apparently, things are due to kick off at 10am ET/3pm BST. This leak doesn't come with any new specs, sadly, but that hasn't stopped the rumour mill from grinding away. Word is the new foldables will have upgraded cameras and some new AI software features. Samsung has also already confirmed the new devices will launch with One UI 8. Then there's the so-called Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra, which Samsung seems to be increasingly hinting at. Recent official announcements promise 'industry-leading hardware, cutting-edge performance and seamless AI integration optimised for the foldable format'. Whatever that means. It's been teased and rumoured for a while now, and this could finally be the year it trots onto the stage. And let's not forget the wrists. The Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic are also expected to make an appearance, which will be the perfect companion to the latest Galaxy smartphones. Although, the Watch Ultra 2 might be keeping a low profile until 2026. If the launch does happen on 9 July, then I expect pre-orders to go live later that day. Based on past launches, pricing is likely to sit in high-end flagship territory – we're talking north of $1700/£1749 for the Fold 7, and closer to $999/£1049 for the Flip 7.

Samsung is hinting strongly at an Ultra branded foldable coming soon. The company's press release references a foldable with a 'powerful camera,' which is traditionally a weakness of folding phones. Between this Ultra model and a rumored FE version of the Z Flip, we might have a whole bunch of new folding phones on our hands later this summer.

Samsung has been rumored to bring an Ultra variant to its Fold series for quite some time and we now have the first official teaser for the Fold7 Ultra. The device will launch later this year alongside the vanilla Z Fold7 and the clamshell Z Flip7 and Z Flip7 FE. Samsung's new foldables are rumored to launch at an in-person event in New York in early July. The Z Fold7 Ultra teaser showcases a slim profile. How slim? We don't know yet, but it will certainly be thinner than the outgoing Z Fold6, which measures 5.6 mm in its unfolded state and the Z Fold Special Edition, which is 4.9mm. Equally exciting, Samsung promises the Ultra will have best-in-class camera, which is no small claim, considering the vivo X Fold3 Pro's excellent shooter. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 prices revealed — here's what we know
Last year was seemingly the year of price hikes for many tech companies, especially Samsung, before President Trump introduced tariffs this year. So far in 2025, Samsung has managed to keep prices relatively the same for its latest handsets. A new rumor from tipster PandaFlashPro on X claims that the trend will continue with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. "Few Countries will get Price Increases, while Most of Markets will keep Prices Similar to the Previous ones," they posted. They say that this information is "confirmed," we assume by one of their sources. However, they have not provided any information about which countries will get a price increase. However, the tweet ends with $1899 and $1099 for the Z Fold and Z Flip, respectively. This suggests that, at least in the US, the price will remain the same as the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 at launch. Last year's models did get a disappointing $100 price bump. At the same time, the tipster also posted about the Z Fold 7's camera, specifically the zoom capabilities.
