Your Friends and Neighbors Season 2: Release date speculation, cast and plot details – Everything we know so far

By Aman Shukla Published on June 18, 2025, 18:30 IST Last updated June 18, 2025, 11:20 IST Apple TV+'s dark comedy crime drama Your Friends and Neighbors has captivated audiences with its sharp wit, shocking twists, and stellar performances, particularly from Jon Hamm as Andrew 'Coop' Cooper. Following the gripping Season 1 finale, fans are eager for updates on Season 2. From release date speculation to cast additions and potential plot developments, here's everything we know so far about Your Friends and Neighbors Season 2. Release Date Speculation for Your Friends and Neighbors Season 2 While Apple TV+ has not announced an official premiere date for Your Friends and Neighbors Season 2, there are promising signs of a relatively quick turnaround. The show was renewed in November 2024, before Season 1 even premiered on April 11, 2025, reflecting Apple's strong confidence in the series. Filming for Season 2 began just three days after the Season 1 premiere, which suggests a potential release as early as Spring 2026, likely around April or May, aligning with the Season 1 schedule. Your Friends and Neighbors Season 2 Expected Cast The core cast of Your Friends and Neighbors is expected to return, with Jon Hamm reprising his role as Andrew 'Coop' Cooper, the disgraced hedge fund manager turned thief. Amanda Peet will return as Mel, Coop's ex-wife, and Olivia Munn as Samantha 'Sam' Levitt, Coop's on-again-off-again lover who played a pivotal role in the Season 1 finale. Other returning cast members likely include: Hoon Lee as Barney Choi, Coop's friend and business manager Mark Tallman as Nick Brandes Lena Hall as Allison 'Ali' Cooper Aimee Carrero as Elena Benavides Eunice Bae, Isabel Gravitt, and Donovan Colan in supporting roles Your Friends and Neighbors Season 2 Potential Plot Season 1 of Your Friends and Neighbors followed Coop's descent into crime after losing his job and marriage, culminating in a shocking finale where Sam framed Coop for her husband Paul's murder, only for it to be revealed as a staged suicide to exploit an insurance clause. Coop, cleared of charges, chose to continue his thieving ways, stealing a coveted Francis Bacon painting in the final moments, setting the stage for a darker, more ambitious Season 2. Creator Jonathan Tropper has teased that Season 2 will delve deeper into the consequences of Coop's actions while exploring the independent arcs of Mel and Sam. 'It's darker. It's more intense,' Tropper told The Hollywood Reporter . The season will focus on the Cooper family dynamics, including Coop's relationships with his children and his evolving bond with Mel, who may also find herself in trouble. Sam's storyline will explore her reinvention in the face of public scrutiny and emotional fallout after her actions in Season 1. Create Account In the new television show Your Friends and Neighbors , John Hamm plays a fictional character Andrew Cooper, a brilliant hedge fund manager with a Princeton pedigree. Despite his status and strong track record, he is terminated after an indiscretion with a subordinate employee. Coop, as he is called, is hamstrung by a two-year, non-solicitation clause in his employment agreement. He is shunned by colleagues and locked out of his capital account. Coop takes interviews at other financial shops but is summarily dismissed at each meeting; the shadow of his non solicit, predetermining the outcome. While most of this fictional story isn't relatable to the average employee, one element is: Coop is entirely reluctant to sue his employer. Desperate to maintain his lifestyle, he laments to a friend about his plight, certain his employer will never negotiate. Your noon-hour look at what's happening in Toronto and beyond. Read More The sepulchral tones of this plot line aren't limited to the world of fiction. I think back to the story of the founder of JetBlue Airways David Neeleman I shared with you years ago. Neeleman launched the successful airline after waiting out a five-year, non-competition clause flowing from his termination at Southwest Airlines. Neeleman recounted the exchange he had with the CEO of Southwest, Herb Kelleher, after he was let go on a podcast. About one-and-a-half years into the non-competition period, he called Southwest's CEO and said, 'Hey Herb, you know, I've consulted legal counsel … this thing isn't really enforceable.' This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. Kelleher responded, 'David, you're the last person I want to see in the airline business. So, I will fight you tooth and nail. I do not want to see you in the airline business.' Neeleman was quite a powerful figure, but he too recounted the emotional hurdles in taking on his former employer. What may be shocking to some is that employers also fear the unpredictable, mercurial nature of litigation. The fear is never one-sided despite the illusion. RECOMMENDED VIDEO If we all played nicely in the sandbox, litigation wouldn't exist. It's here to balance the scales, to allow parties to seize upon leverage, and to force fair outcomes when none are on the table. While never a life goal, taking on a former employer may crystallize your retirement plan or hold you over until your next opportunity. On occasion, it unlocks new wealth. Terminations can be hard to fight, even for the powerful, well-heeled executive. But it can also be the best business decision one makes during one's career. Have a workplace question? John Mulaney blasts 'violent threats' to Olivia Munn and their young family

John Mulaney says his family have received threats over Olivia Munn's comments about Ms. Rachel. The Everybody's Live host has hit out at people who have targeted his wife and their young kids Malcolm, three, and Mei, eight months, after Olivia admitted the YouTuber isn't a regular presence in their household. On Wednesday (11.06.25), John wrote on his Instagram Story: "An innocent comment my wife Olivia Munn made about what children's programs we like has somehow - unbelievably - been conflated with not caring about the deaths of children in Gaza. "Because of this, my wife and my two kids are now receiving violent and threatening comments and messages in her DMs. "This is absolutely insane and needs to stop. The people doing this are so wildly out of line and so unhelpful to any conversation. "You took a nothing comment to a dark and dangerous place. This kind of behavior isn't activism." Over the weekend, the Your Friends and Neighbors actress insisted she wasn't a fan of her kids watching cartoons, or the YouTube star. She told PEOPLE magazine: "I know kids love [Ms. Rachel], but the thing is, if I can't watch it, I'm not going to spend the rest of my life going crazy. These kid shows drive me crazy. "Malcolm asked for Blue's Clues [recently], and I don't know who showed him Blue's Clues, but they are on my s*** list now. "I said, 'Hell no. Not in my house.' John got him into the Spider-Man cartoons, which is not interesting to me." The publication has since removed the interview for unknown reasons. Ms. Rachel - who has made calls for humanitarian aid to be sent to help children in Gaza - responded to headlines focused on Olivia's comment. She commented on Instagram: 'I'd rather you cover my advocacy for kids in Gaza.' The social media star clarified that she wasn't addressing Olivia, adding that she doesn't "care that she doesn't want to watch the show", and sent "all my love to her and her family". Olivia later admitted she "never anticipated" the direction her comments took. She wrote on her own Instagram Story: "My comments were never meant to diminish the joy, comfort and impact she brings to so many families. 'I don't want something taken out of context to be a moment that steals even a minute of joy for anyone.'

Olivia Munn didn't realise she was focusing on ‘things that didn't matter' until cancer fight

Bang Showbiz | Los Angeles Olivia Munn didn't realise she was focusing on 'things that didn't matter' until she was diagnosed with cancer. The actress, 44, was told she had bilateral breast cancer in April 2023 and since then has undergone five surgeries including a double mastectomy, a hysterectomy and lymph node dissection. Opening up about the new outlook on life the gruelling health fight has given her, she told a FYC event in Los Angeles while proming her new Apple TV+ series 'Your Friends and Neighbors': 'I don't think I realised how much I was focusing on things that didn't matter until I had a crashing moment in my life, which was being diagnosed with breast cancer.' She continued: 'It's unfortunate, I think, when something that big has to kind of turn your head around to look back at how you've been living and realising like, 'Oh, wait, these things don't matter.' 'But, at the same time, that's, I guess, the blessing in those moments.' Olivia revealed the details of her diagnosis and treatment earlier this year and has since spoken openly about how the ordeal has shifted her priorities. The 'X-Men: Apocalypse' star said she now appreciates her time with loved ones more than ever, especially with her partner, 41-year-old comedian John Mulaney, and their two children – three-year-old son Malcolm and seven-month-old daughter Méi. She said: 'So when I have energy to get up in the morning and I have energy to be with my family and my friends, and I get to work with amazing people, it's truly, as saccharine as it might sound, when I get up and I'm here and I get to see the sky and I see my children playing and I get to talk to my friends – I just need that.

Olivia Munn doesn't want her kids watching cartoons

Olivia Munn won't let her children watch cartoons. The Your Friends and Neighbors actress - who has Malcolm, three, and Mei, eight months, with husband John Mulaney doesn't find animated shows particularly "interesting" and she's not a fan of kids' YouTube favourite Ms. Rachel either. Not in my house.' John got him into the Spider-Man cartoons, which is not interesting to me. "I put on Tom Holland's Spider-Man: Homecoming and was like, 'If you want to watch the real-life ones, then we can watch that.' It might be a little too old for him, but I can't take the cartoons." However, Olivia, 44, made an exception for Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, which she thinks is "great" and she and John, 42, found it helpful for Malcolm to watch the PBS cartoon ahead of the birth of Mei so he could prepare for being a big brother. She said: "Daniel Tiger has a little sister, and we'd tell him, 'There's a baby sister coming.' " After Mei was born, the couple were carefu, not to "change [Malcolm's] world and identity and responsibilities." Olivia explained: "A lot of times people will be like, 'Oh, you're a big brother now. You're not the baby anymore. Now you can help mommy get the diapers.' So, all of a sudden, he has all these responsibilities, and he doesn't just get to be carefree anymore. "Instead, we would say, 'Now we have two babies. There's baby Méi Méi and baby Malcolm.' "He would say, 'Mommy, come over here. Daddy, come over here,' and if we were holding the baby, we would put her down so that he wouldn't feel that all of a sudden now we can't be there for him. "It's not that we were trying to teach him that everything he says goes, but we wanted him to have the transition with her to know that we're still here whenever he needs us. Then, eventually when he'd say, 'Put Méi Méi down,' we'd say, 'No, she wants to see her mommy too.' "He smiles, and he understands." While she is only eight months old, Mei already shows she "loves her brother." Olivia said: "Anywhere he goes, she lights up. He's teaching her how to talk. We have this great video of him telling her to say dada, and she says dada right back. It's amazing and fun for him because he gets instant feedback and gratification from her doing the thing that he's teaching her to do. "I asked if he could teach her mama, but he said no."
