Nicki Minaj Reunites With Lil Wayne for Fiery ‘Banned From NO (Remix)': Listen
It's a Young Money reunion and the remix, baby. After Nicki Minaj was noticeably absent from Tha Carter VI, the Queen reunited with Lil Wayne for the 'Banned From NO (Remix)' on Wednesday (June 11). Fans were disappointed after a rumored C6 collaboration didn't come to fruition, but the latest chapter in the Nicki-Wayne lyrical marriage arrived less than a week later, while Minaj emptied the clip with a fiery verse on 'Banned From NO (Remix).' The Queens icon then dives head-first into her bristling verse, which finds her sniping at NFL player-turned-podcast host Shannon Sharpe, who has been critical of Minaj in the past. 'If I send a pic of Shannon you ain't that Sharpe/ Cause you still can't spell Prague and that's horrible,' she raps. Minaj then salutes a classic Wayne bar from the Pharrell-produced 'Yes.' 'Weezy F Baby and the F is for Phenomenal,' she mimics. Before leaving the burning booth, Nicki wasn't done and she sent a shot at the NFL about their choices for the Super Bowl Halftime Show, which overlooked Wayne in his hometown earlier this year. 'NFL, fire some n—s and then call us,' she spews in defense of the Young Money boss. Tha Carter VI arrived on Friday (June 6) filled with 19 tracks and features from Kodak Black, MGK, Bono, BigXthaPlug, Jelly Roll and Big Sean. The 'Banned From NO (Remix)' marks the first Weezy-Minaj collaboration since 2023's 'RNB' from Pink Friday 2. Listen to the 'Banned From NO (Remix)' below. Nicki Minaj reunites with Lil Wayne on Banned From NO remix packed with NBA bars and sharp disses
Nicki Minaj teams up once again with Lil Wayne on the fiery remix of 'Banned From NO,' reuniting the iconic Young Money duo for the first time in nearly two years. Released at midnight on June 11, the surprise collaboration arrives just days after Tha Carter VI dropped—an album that sparked speculation about a Minaj feature, which ultimately didn't appear. Though her absence from the album disappointed some fans, Minaj makes a commanding return here, kicking off the track with a confident chorus laced with clever NBA-themed punchlines. She name-drops teams like the Indiana Pacers, New York Knicks, and Los Angeles Lakers, delivering rapid-fire bars with her signature wit and aggression. She doesn't hold back on the disses either. Taking aim at media personality Shannon Sharpe, Minaj raps: 'If I send a pic of Shannon you ain't that Sharpe / 'Cause you still can't spell Prague and that's horrible.' The jab combines her knack for punchy wordplay with a sharp personal dig. Elsewhere, Minaj calls out the NFL's history of overlooking Lil Wayne for high-profile performances, despite his deep New Orleans roots: 'NFL, fire some n—as and then call us.' In a moment of homage, she reworks one of Wayne's most iconic lines: 'Weezy F Baby and the F is for Phenomenal,' reinforcing the duo's enduring creative bond. 'Banned From NO (Remix)' marks their first collaboration since 'RNB' off Pink Friday 2 (2023) and arrives as Minaj reportedly begins work on Pink Friday 3. With renewed chemistry and lyrical precision, the track marks a powerful return for two of hip-hop's most legendary voices. The remix is now available for streaming.

Lil Wayne opens Tha Carter VI tour with LL Cool J at Madison Square Garden
Lil Wayne launched Tha Carter VI tour with a special performance alongside LL Cool J at Madison Square Garden, delivering a joint set that honoured the legacy of hip-hop. Wayne brought LL Cool J on stage to perform 'Bells,' the breakout track from his latest album, which samples the classic 'Rock The Bells.' As the crowd erupted, LL Cool J delivered verses from his original hit before joining Wayne in trading lines over the updated version. Tha Carter VI tour is set to visit major cities including Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Toronto. Supporting acts Tyga and Belly Gang Kushginton are slated to appear at various stops. Despite the tour's strong start, Wayne's new album has received mixed reactions since its June 6 release. The 19-track album reunites the iconic Young Money trio—Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Wayne—and also features a diverse lineup including MGK, Miley Cyrus, Andrea Bocelli, Bono, Wyclef Jean, and Wayne's son, Kameron Carter, blending hip-hop, rock, opera, and pop into a genre-fluid experience. Among the mixed reactions to the album, common critiques from listeners highlight inconsistent production, lack of lyrical sharpness, and a tracklist seen as excessive. High-profile features from 2 Chainz, Kodak Black, and Bono were also viewed as unfocused by many listeners. However, some praised Wayne's risk-taking and introspective tone, though such support remained limited.
