Juventus Beat Al-Ain 5-0 at Club World Cup

Randal Kolo Muani and Francisco Conceicao both scored twice as the young guns of Juventus made a statement in their Club World Cup opener with a dominant 5-0 win over Emirati club Al-Ain on Wednesday. Kolo Muani grabbed both of his goals in the first half, Conceicao scored either side of the break while Türkiye forward Kenan Yildiz also found the net as Juventus dazzled the crowd at Audi Field with some mesmeric football. "I'm very happy to win the game, the team played a great game so we're happy and now we'll get ready for the next game," Reuters quoted Kolo Muani as saying. "I finished last season well and we've started this good as well." The convincing victory sent Juventus top of Group G level on three points with England's Manchester City, who beat Wydad Casablanca 2-0 earlier on Wednesday. Twice Asian champions Al-Ain conceded two thirds of the pitch for much of the first half and Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram ran the show from about 35 meters out with Conceicao and Yildiz buzzing around in front of him. A neat exchange of passing in the 11th minute set Alberto Costa free on the edge of the box and the young Portuguese right back lofted over a cross which Kolo Muani met with a powerful header at the far post for the opening goal. Costa's fine work down the right flank 10 minutes later set up the second goal for Conceicao, who ghosted across the box before unleashing a shot which took a deflection and flew over the outstretched arms of Rui Patricio in the Al-Ain goal. A further 10 minutes on and the lively Yildiz took the ball on the left before cutting inside, taking two touches and firing a shot into the net off the post. Al-Ain had to push forward if they were going to get anything out of the game but they paid the price for their ambition in stoppage time at the end of the first half. A through ball from Thuram found Kolo Muani peeling off the last defender and the French striker slotted the ball into net with the outside of his right foot to take his tally to five goals in his last six games for The Old Lady. The Emirati side had a goal ruled out for offside at the start of the second half and skipper Kodjo Laba drew a fine save out of Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio in the 49th minute. Conceicao, however, put the game well beyond them in the 58th minute when he skipped into the box from the right wing and beat Portuguese Patricio for the second time with a fine low strike. Patricio finally showed the quality that earned him 108 Portugal caps to deny Kolo Muani a hat-trick in the 66th minute and Juventus substitute Douglas Luiz came close to further blowing out the scoreline in the last couple of minutes. Juventus next play Morroco's Wydad in Philadephia on Sunday, while Al-Ain, who lost to Real Madrid in the 2018 Club World Cup final, face City in Atlanta later the same day.

Juventus respond as Andrea Berta puts Kenan Yildiz on summer transfer shortlist

Arsenal are interested in Juventus star Kenan Yildiz, but they do not want to sell the 20-year-old winger and are set to open talks with him over a new contract Juventus are reportedly planning to offer Kenan Yildiz a new contract in a bid to ward off interest from clubs like Arsenal. Yildiz enjoyed an impressive campaign for Juventus this season, producing 16 goal contributions in 48 appearances across all competitions. The 20-year-old is attracting interest from a number of sides across Europe and Arsenal are among them, with Mikel Arteta keen to strengthen his forward line this summer. Italian outlet Tuttosport are reporting that Arsenal are the club who are 'most interested' in Yildiz. ‌ The Gunners are said to have a longstanding interest in Yildiz and are ready to spend between €50million (£42m) and €60m (£50.5m) on a new winger. It is claimed that Yildiz and Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams are Arsenal's top targets. ‌ However, Juventus believe Yildiz is worth closer to €100m (£84m) and they are ready to open talks with the Turkey international over a new deal which could see him double his salary. Juventus endured a disappointing campaign as they finished fourth in Serie A, but they finished the season strongly after Igor Tudor replaced Thiago Motta as manager in March. Juventus have lost just one game under Tudor and Yildiz has spoken highly of the Croatian. "He gave us energy, it was important for us," Yildiz told DAZN last month about Tudor's impact. "Since he arrived, we've been happy, we've been working hard. I'm happy with this season, but I want to improve in everything. "I'm always looking ahead. The No.10 shirt doesn't add any pressure. I play as usual and I'm happy to be wearing it." Arsenal, meanwhile, have yet to make any new signings but Arteta has told fans that this summer's transfer window will be a "big one" for the club. "It's going to be a big one and we are very excited about it," he said. ‌ "When you are going to go again, we want to increase the depth of the squad and the quality and the skills that we need to go to the next step. "Every summer is big because it is an opportunity – and especially because of the number of players we have in the squad right now, that is necessary. "But it's a big summer for many things because first of all we have to maintain the good foundations that we have and then obviously how can we improve and evolve the team." Arsenal told they must cough up £84m to sign attacking target

Juventus are determined to fend off Arsenal's interest in Kenan Yildiz, unless the Gunners are prepared to pay in excess of €100million (£84m) for the forward this summer. Yildiz further established himself as one of the most promising attacking talents in Italian football with a return of nine goals and eight assists in all competitions for Juve last season. But there has been mounting speculation that Yildiz could be on his way out of the Allianz Stadium, with the 20-year-old attracting the attentions of a host of top European teams. According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, Arsenal have shown the most concrete interest of those potential suitors and sent scouts to watch over Yildiz's performances several times in recent months. The report claims Yildiz finds himself at the top of Arsenal's wishlist, alongside Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams, with the club's new sporting director, Andrea Berta, keen to add greater firepower to Mikel Arteta's attack. Arsenal are also working on a deal for renowned talent spotter, Matteo Tognozzi, who helped facilitate Yildiz's move to Juve in 2022 – and it's thought his presence in north London could be key in capturing the Turkey international. However, Juve are said to be determined to shut down Arsenal's advances and would only entertain offers in excess of €100million (£84m) for their sought-after No.10. The Serie A giants 'do not want to be caught unprepared' and the club's general manager, Damien Comolli, plans to enter into contract talks with Yidiz's entourage in due course. Yildiz's current deal in Turin runs through to the summer of 2029. Speaking to DAZN last month, Yildiz said he and the rest of Juventus' squad were enjoying their time under new manager Igor Tudor. 'He gave us energy, it was important for us,' Yildiz said of the Croatian, who replaced Thiago Motta in the dugout back in March. 'Since he arrived, we've been happy, we've been working hard. 'I'm happy with this season, but I want to improve in everything. I'm always looking ahead. 'The No.10 shirt doesn't add any pressure. I play as usual and I'm happy to be wearing it.' Mikel Arteta has made no secret of his desire to bring in attacking reinforcements this summer and last month told fans to expect a 'big' transfer window. 'It's going to be a big one and we are very excited about it,' the Arsenal head coach told reporters. 'When you are going to go again, we want to increase the depth of the squad and the quality and the skills that we need to go to the next step. 'Every summer is big because it is an opportunity – and especially because of the number of players we have in the squad right now, that is necessary. 'But it's a big summer for many things because first of all we have to maintain the good foundations that we have and then obviously how can we improve and evolve the team.' The numbers of Juve's Serie A campaign

The 2024/25 Serie A season has officially drawn to a close, and so, as always, we take a look back at some of the standout numbers from the past campaign: Juventus is the team with the second-lowest average age among starters and substitutes in this Serie A season: 24 years and 288 days, behind only Parma (24 years and 98 days). No team drew more games than Juventus in the top five European leageus this season: 16, along with Osasuna. In their Serie A history, only in 1955/56 (17) did the Bianconeri record more draws in a single season, while they also drew 16 matches in the 1965/66 season. The Bianconeri scored 11 goals from direct counter-attacks, only fewer than Eintracht Frankfurt (12) and Liverpool (14) in the top five European leagues. Among the players with at least 10 goal contributions this season, Kenan Yildiz (04/05/2005) is the youngest (with seven goals and four assists). With Igor Tudor, Juventus earned an average of 2.0 points per game (5W, 3D, 1L), while with Thiago Motta the average was 1.8 (13W, 13D, 3L). Only Antonio Conte, Simone Inzaghi and Claudio Ranieri had a better average points per game than the Croatian across the 2024/25 season. SERIE A RANKINGS Juve ranked second across all 20 Serie A teams in terms of total successful passes (17,372, behind Inter); third for ball possession (57.7%) behind the Nerazzurri and Bologna; first on a par with Inter for passing accuracy (88.1%) and third for shots on target conceded (122, only Napoli and Bologna were better). Among player rankings, Yildiz was second on a par with Rafael Leao and behind only Nico Paz in terms of successful dribbles (59), while Manuel Locatelli closed out the season in third place in terms of balls played (2,817), behind Rrahmani and Ndicka. JUVE RANKINGS It is no coincidence that Yildiz and Locatelli also lead numerous in-team rankings. Kenan is first in the locker room for crosses (115), chances created (57) and, as mentioned above, successful dribbles, while Loca, in addition to balls played, leads the rankings in terms of successful passes (2121), tackles made (72) and balls recovered (141). Joining them is Dusan Vlahovic, first in terms of total shots (77) and shots on target (30), as well as obviously for goals scored (15).
