National Reading Day celebrated with enthusiasm at YCCE

Nagpur: Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering (YCCE), Nagpur, celebrated National Reading Day on June 19 with great zeal to honour the legacy of PN Panicker, the pioneer of library movement in India. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The celebration commenced with a reading pledge taken in the central library, where students, faculty, and staff committed to cultivating regular reading habits. A special initiative titled 'Drop Everything and Read' was held at 12.30pm, during which library paused for 30 minutes of silent reading. A book review competition was announced to encourage critical thinking and engagement with literature. In an effort to promote academic digital literacy, a digital resources awareness campaign introduced students to national-level platforms such as NDLI, Delnet, e-ShodhSindhu as well as Knimbus. Principal Dr Uday Waghe and director technical Dr Manali Kshirsagar, appreciated the initiative and encouraged students to make reading a lifelong habit. The event, organised by Dr Rajendra Pahade received an overwhelming response from the students and successfully highlighted the importance of reading in personal and academic growth. Arti Thakre, Deorao Kale, Sonam Sheikh, Sanjay Jadhav, Ravindra Mahabudhe and other library staff helped make the programme a success.

Nagpur: In a move to align academic expertise with rapidly evolving technological trends, the departments of computer science and engineering and information technology at Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering (YCCE), Nagpur, jointly organised a six-day faculty development programme (FDP) on 'Quantum Computing and Applications' from May 19 to 24. The programme was held under the Kalam Impact 2.0 initiative, which focuses on enhancing faculty capabilities through exposure to frontier technologies. The FDP featured Dr Raunak Rathi, an industry expert from EXL, Pune, known for his significant contributions to quantum technologies. His sessions provided a balanced blend of theoretical knowledge and practical insights, drawing appreciation from participants across departments. The event was organised under the guidance of principal Dr UP Waghe and MGI technical director Manali Kshirsagar. Heads of departments — Prof Lalit Damahe (CSE) and Prof Rajesh Dharmik (IT) — commended the faculty for their enthusiastic participation and commitment to continuous learning. YCCE's Gyan Sabha 2025 a celebration of innovation and student leadership

1 2 3 Nagpur: Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering (YCCE), Nagpur, hosted Gyan Sabha 2025 — its flagship academic and cultural conclave — on May 10. Organised by the department of applied mathematics and humanities under the aegis of the ISTE Student Chapter (BTech first year), the event served as a vibrant platform for creativity, intellect, and student-led initiatives. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Dr SS Khedkar, director, TBI Foundation, YCCE, and Dr Rakhi Wajgi, dean – training and placement. Dr Monali Dhote, head of the department and faculty in-charge of the ISTE Chapter, delivered the welcome address and outlined the event's objectives. The proceedings were deftly anchored by Ahana Bonde and Samyak Pusate. Gyan Sabha 2025 featured six engaging competitions that drew enthusiastic participation from across the Nagpur region: Kavya (poetry recitation), Virtual Palette (poster-making), Ignite (science exhibition), Ganitgyan (mathematics quiz), Inkspire (article writing) and Vaktavya (youth parliament simulation). A total of 331 participants showcased their talents, with many earning accolades for outstanding performances in various categories. The conclave concluded with a valedictory session and prize distribution ceremony. Anushka Gupta, general secretary of the ISTE Student Chapter, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, judges, faculty, and participants. Gyan Sabha 2025 reaffirmed YCCE's unwavering commitment to fostering academic excellence, creativity, and holistic student development.
