Who Is Priya Sachdev? The Model-Turned-Entrepreneur And Late Sunjay Kapur's Third Wife
Last Updated: Who is Priya Sachdev? Model, actress, and entrepreneur, Priya is Sunjay Kapur's third wife who once acted in Yash Raj Films' Neal N Nikki. The untimely passing of businessman Sunjay Kapur on June 12, 2025, after a heart attack in England, has left a void in both the corporate world and among those who knew him personally. But perhaps no one feels this loss more intimately than his wife, model-turned-entrepreneur Priya Sachdev, whose journey alongside Sunjay was one marked by quiet resilience, reinvention, and a deep sense of family. Sunjay Kapur, former husband of actress Karisma Kapoor and chairman of the automotive company Sona Comstar, was Priya's second husband. Their union in 2017 marked a new beginning for both — a blending of past lives, public scrutiny, and personal healing. Together, they welcomed a son, Azarias, in 2018, and often gave the world glimpses of their peaceful domestic life, far removed from the high-profile headlines that had once surrounded them. But who is Priya Sachdev beyond the glossy pictures and paparazzi frames? Educated at the prestigious London School of Economics, Priya's early life was rooted in both academics and ambition. Her father, Ashok Sachdev, was a known car dealer, and from an early age, Priya was exposed to the intersections of business, glamour, and society. After her time in London, she entered the world of fashion, walking ramps and appearing in a slew of high-profile advertisements. In an interesting twist of fate, she even appeared in a commercial with Kareena Kapoor Khan — the sister of Sunjay's second wife, Karisma Kapoor — long before their lives would converge. Priya also dabbled in acting, making a brief appearance in Yash Raj Films' Neal N Nikki (2005) opposite Uday Chopra. Though her stint in Bollywood was short-lived, it reflected her curiosity and creative spirit. Eventually, Priya transitioned into entrepreneurship, carving a niche in luxury retail and fashion, all while navigating the ups and downs of personal life. Before marrying Sunjay, Priya was briefly married to American hotelier and actor Vikram Chatwal in 2006 — a glamorous, whirlwind relationship that made headlines across continents. Their union ended in 2011, and the two share a daughter, Safira Chatwal. Despite the high-profile divorce, Priya maintained a dignified presence and focused on co-parenting while rebuilding her life on her own terms. When she married Sunjay in 2017, many saw it as a union of kindred spirits — two individuals with layered pasts, both having weathered public divorces and raising children from previous marriages. But more than that, their marriage symbolized a quiet understanding. Priya, despite being in the spotlight, never shied away from expressing her love and admiration for Sunjay. Her social media was peppered with heartfelt posts, family pictures, and tender moments — many of which included Sunjay's children with Karisma Kapoor, Samaira and Kiaan. It was a testament to her belief in modern familyhood — one that embraces the past while nurturing the present. The sudden news of Sunjay's passing was confirmed by industrialist Suhel Seth on X (formerly Twitter), who wrote, 'Deeply saddened at the passing of @sunjaykapur: he passed away earlier today in England. A terrible loss and deepest condolences to his family and to his colleagues @sonacomstar …Om Shanti." First Published: June 13, 2025, 16:29 IST
