‘Rappa Rappa Narukuta': Placards threaten beheadings at Jagan Mohan Reddy's rally; Ex-CM sees nothing wrong in Pushpa-2 reference, TDP slams ‘gangster' tone
VIJAYWADA: A political storm has erupted in Andhra Pradesh after placards displayed at a rally led by former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy referenced violent language and controversial slogans. Supporters at the rally in Rentapalla village, Palnadu district, were seen carrying signs proclaiming the start of a 'Raja Reddy constitution' and threatening to 'chop off the heads of political opponents one by one just like chopping the heads during animal sacrifice ceremony in Gangamma Thalli Jathara (Rappa Rappa narukutham),' a line from the upcoming film Pushpa 2 . When questioned, Jagan Mohan Reddy appeared to downplay the slogans, saying in a press conference, 'What is wrong in displaying a dialogue from the Pushpa movie,' prompting swift backlash from the ruling TDP. Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu said the incident revealed the 'criminal mindset' of the opposition. 'Politicians used to hesitate even to be seen with people with criminal background but now we have an opposition which is doing politics with only criminals,' he said, referencing the 2019 murder of Jagan's uncle, Y S Vivekananda Reddy. 'The Rappa Rappa language used by them indicating what kind of mindset they are in,' Naidu added, urging voters to reflect on the 'antecedents, criminal history and mindset' of leaders. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Finance minister Payyavula Keshav was more direct. Jagan Mohan Reddy is acting like a gangster but not a public representative,' he said.

Placard with
Amaravathi (Andhra Pradesh) [India], June 20 (ANI): A placard bearing the provocative slogan 'Rapa Rapa Narukutham' (we'll chop heads one by one) caused a stir during YSR Congress Party President and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's tour of Palnadu on Thursday. The slogan, reportedly held by a supporter of the YSRCP, compared a possible YSRCP return to power in 2029 to a traditional ritual during the Gangamma Jatara, where symbolic beheadings take place. The incident gained traction and drew criticism, prompting the police to register a case against the individual and initiate an investigation. Responding to the issue during a press meeting on Friday, YS Jagan made a pointed remark. He questioned, 'Is it wrong to hold a placard with a dialogue from Allu Arjun's movie Pushpa?' referring to the now-infamous phrase. He further added that, upon investigation, it was revealed that the person holding the placard actually belongs to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and holds active membership in it. Taking a jab at TDP leadership, Jagan remarked, 'Maybe he couldn't tolerate the wrongdoings of his own party's leader, Chandrababu, and that's why he was talking about chopping off heads of his own people Earlier, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, YSR Congress Party President and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, accused Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of conspiring to disrupt his meeting with tobacco farmers in Prakasam district. He added that the farmers showed great restraint despite provocation and violence instigated by TDP 'goons.' 'I visited Podili in Prakasam Dist. to meet distressed Tobacco farmers and offer them support, as they have been denied fair prices. Over 40,000 farmers and locals joined me in solidarity. To divert attention from the issue at hand, Chandrababu Naidu connived to send about 40 TDP workers to disrupt the meeting and provoke violence by pelting stones along our route,' Jagan Mohan Reddy said in a post on X. 'Thankfully, the farmers and public showed great restraint and did not retaliate against the acute assaults by TDP goons,' he added. (ANI)

Ambati booked for obstructing police
Narasaraopet: Sattenapalli rural police registered a case against former minister and YSRCP leader Ambati Rambabu for obstructing police duties during YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy's visit to Rentapalla village on June 18. The visit was to unveil a statue of YSRCP activist Nagamalleswara Rao, who died by suicide last year. Rambabu allegedly argued with police, removed barricades, and allowed YSRCP activists to gather at Korrapadu near Sattenapalli. He was booked under Sections 188, 332, 353, and 427 of BNS, and an investigation is underway. Further, police also booked YSRCP Sattenapalli Assembly constituency in-charge Gajjala Sudhir Bhargav Reddy and former MLA Dr Gopireddy Srinivasa Reddy for conducting an unauthorised rally during Jagan's visit. Despite Section 30 of the Police Act being in force, the rally proceeded without permission and included a DJ sound system. A case has been registered, and investigations are ongoing. Palnadu district SP Kanchi Srinivasa Rao told the media on Thursday that permission was granted for three vehicles, escort vehicles, and 100 activists for the event. However, YSRCP leaders violated these conditions, obstructed police duties, damaged public property, disrupted traffic, and used a DJ sound system. The SP released a video showing the violations, which also caused a law-and-order issue. He said that legal action would be pursued after obtaining legal opinion and warned of strict measures against those violating law and order.
