Gerik crash: Terengganu govt to cover funeral for 15 UPSI students

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Terengganu state government will fully bear the funeral costs for the 15 victims of the fatal bus accident on the East-West Highway (JRTB), near Tasik Banding, Gerik, early this morning. State Welfare, Women's Development, Family, and National Unity Committee chairman Maliaman Kassim said the state government will also provide logistical support to the victims' families who are at the hospital. Additionally, he stated that a psychosocial team will be assigned to assist family members facing trauma or grief due to the incident. "Indeed, the passing of these students is a great loss not only to their families but also to Terengganu, which is very proud of the achievements and spirit of its youth in pursuing knowledge. "For the families, we will provide counseling services and immediate assistance to help them cope with difficult moments like today," he said in a statement today. In the incident that occurred between 12.30am and 1am, 15 UPSI students died when a chartered bus traveling from Jerteh to Tanjung Malim, Perak, overturned after being involved in an accident with a Perodua Alza multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) on the JRTB, near Tasik Banding, Perak. The accident also resulted in 33 others being injured, including the bus driver and second driver, as well as the Perodua Alza driver and three passengers. – Bernama

Sana'a - Saba: Today, the summer activities and courses for the year 1446 AH concluded in the Outer Haima District in Sana'a Governorate under the slogan "Knowledge and Jihad." At the conclusion of the summer courses at the Al-Rasoul Al-A'zam School in the Sabt area, Amin Mujal, the directorate's education sector official, congratulated the students on the knowledge and sciences they had acquired, as well as the awareness and insight they had gained during the summer courses. He highlighted the revolutionary leadership's interest in raising generations and protecting them from deviant ideas and the dangers of soft warfare through adherence to the Holy Quran and the acquisition of skills in various areas of the summer courses. Mujal urged the students to continue their role in confronting the forces of hegemony and arrogance, using Quranic thought, culture, and the intellectual skills they had acquired during the summer courses. The closing ceremony included the opening of an exhibition of models, drawings, and handicrafts at Sayyida Zainab School, created by summer course students. The exhibition also featured segments that embodied the students' faith awareness and the knowledge and sciences they acquired during the summer courses. The directors of the Women's Development Departments in the governorate, Amat Allah Al-Muhturi and Amat Al-Salam Al-Akwa, reviewed the fruits of the summer courses and the gains the students achieved in learning the Holy Quran, reciting and memorizing it, promoting charitable activities, and connecting with the guidance of God, the Prophet's family, and other guiding figures. During the event, Amatullah Al-Mahthuri, Director of Women's Development in the province, emphasized the importance of the summer courses in providing students with awareness, knowledge, and education to build a family armed with Quranic culture and a faith-based identity, fortified against all destructive ideologies. She urged the students to continue their academic and intellectual pursuits and to make the most of the beneficial programs and activities offered in the summer courses. This, she said, would help create a Quranic generation firmly rooted in its faith-based identity, capable of confronting challenges and dangers and thwarting the schemes of enemies. Al-Mahthuri praised the efforts of the educational staff in equipping the students with beneficial knowledge, guiding them in learning the Holy Quran—memorization and recitation—and providing them with skills in various fields. On the sidelines of the event, an art exhibition was opened, showcasing the diverse skills and expertise the girls acquired during the summer courses.
