Dog shot during active investigation: police

Windsor police say a dog was fatally shot by police during an active investigation. Police responded to the 2800 block of Tecumseh Road West, near Huron Church Road, shortly after 2 p.m. Thursday for a report of a person in crisis. Police say during the interaction between officers and individuals on scene, a dog was fatally shot by police. One person is now in police custody, and no further injuries have been reported at this time. This remains an ongoing investigation.

$13,000 cheque fraud scheme leads to four suspects charged

Windsor police say four people have been charged after a cheque fraud scheme defrauded a local flooring business out of over $13,000. Between Feb. 18 and March 24, the four individuals allegedly completed 17 fraudulent transactions using forged cheques belonging to the business owner. Investigators believe the cheques had been discarded and later retrieved by the suspects. The total loss resulting from the scheme is estimated at $13,120. The Windsor Police Financial Crimes Unit investigated and identified the suspects through surveillance footage captured at several financial institutions across the city. On June 18, 2025, officers arrested a 48-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman at a residence in the 3600 block of Sandwich Street. They are each charged with: Fraud over $5,000 Obtaining funds by false pretence over $5,000 Uttering forged documents Possession of property obtained by crime Failure to comply with a probation order (x2) Two additional male suspects, ages 44 and 56, are charged with: Fraud under $5,000 Obtaining funds by false pretence under $5,000 Uttering a forged document Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 Anyone with information is asked to contact the Windsor Police Financial Crimes Unit at 519-255-6700, ext. 4330. Windsor, Ont. — **Update on June 19, 2025: The charges have been withdrawn in this case. A 20-year-old security guard employed at a long-term care facility is facing charges after allegedly sexually assaulting two female staff members. Police say on Monday, Jan. 11 around 8:30 p.m. Windsor police attended a long-term care facility for a sexual assault investigation. During the course of the investigation police learned the male suspect sexually assaulted two female staff members on separate occasions. Police believe there could be more victims as the incidents were committed during the man's employment as a security guard at the facility. The Windsor man has been arrested and charged with three counts of sexual assault. The Major Crime Unit continues to investigate the matter. Police are reminding the public that any sexual assault can be reported directly to police by phone or online. $170,000 in drugs seized in Windsor bust

Windsor police have arrested a 28-year-old suspect and seized over $170,000 in illegal drugs. Windsor police have arrested a 28-year-old suspect and seized over $170,000 in illegal drugs. Earlier this month, the Windsor Police Drugs and Guns Enforcement Unit (DIGS) launched an investigation into a suspected drug trafficking operation with links to the Greater Toronto Area. On Tuesday, officers located and arrested a 28-year-old suspect at the intersection of Tecumseh Road East and Goyeau Avenue. Officers then executed a search warrant at a residence in the 2600 block of Chandler Road where police say trafficking was suspected to occur. The search returned 1.303 kilograms of cocaine, 329.4 grams of crack cocaine, three digital scales, drug packaging material, a cellular phone, a Rolex watch, and $3,510 in Canadian currency. Police also executed a search warrant on the suspect's vehicle with support from K9 Officer Coal. The search returned an additional 22.5 grams of cocaine, 76.5 grams of crack cocaine, and $3,130 in Canadian currency. The total value of drugs seized in the operation was $173,230.
