The next phase
American rock band Hotline TNT drop their third studio album Raspberry Moon tomorrow, June 20. The 11-track project is expected to deliver a tone of gratitude, featuring open-hearted love songs to oneself, other people and situations, and celebrate being at peace both, within and with one's surroundings. The theme is also reflected in the way the body of work came together, as it is the first to be fully written and recorded by all the band members. Since its establishment in 2018, frontman Will Anderson has been writing and recording all of the ensemble's music. However, he revealed, in an interview, that the creating process for the new music has also included his bandmates: guitarist Lucky Hunter, bassist Haylen Trammel and drummer Mike Ralston. Will also stated that he never intended for Hotline TNT to be a 'one-man band operation', and that he believes it was an unfortunate matter of circumstance to have done so with the previous two records. Released last month, the third single off the album titled Break Right is the first to be written and produced collaboratively with the rest of the group. 'Some songs hide their meanings behind a facade of metaphors, PR quotes and half-measures. Break Right hides nothing,' Will said. 'This is the sound of TNT becoming a band. Every effect has been unplugged, every sample has been deprogrammed and every emotion has been laid bare. You've never heard a Hotline song quite like this before,' he added.

Payabli secures $28m in Series B funding
Payabli, a payments infrastructure platform serving software firms, has raised $28m in its Series B financing round. This round was led by Fika Ventures and QED Investors, with additional contribution from current investors TTV Capital and Bling Capital. It comes nine months after the company's Series A, bringing the total capital raised to $60m. With the fresh infusion, Payabli plans to continue product development and expand its 3P offering, including Pay In, Pay Out, and Pay Ops capabilities. The company has launched an embedded Spend Management solution, offering branded expense programs with physical and virtual cards, giving platforms full API control and the ability to capture interchange revenue. The company states the recent funding will enable Payabli, headquartered in Florida, to grow its team further. Fika Ventures managing partner TX Zhuo said: 'We've believed in Payabli's vision since day one and have seen Jo and Will consistently exceed expectations as they build the future of embedded payments. Their ability to deliver a full stack, developer first platform that wins in complex, need-to-pay verticals is unmatched.' QED Investors Partner Laura Bock said: 'We initially backed Payabli because we believe deeply in Jo and Will's approach to embedded payments—and they've executed relentlessly. They've built the right platform at exactly the right time, as software platforms become the next major players in payments. With a full-stack offering, rapid product velocity, and strong traction in complex verticals, Payabli has emerged as a category leader. We're excited to double down and support their next phase of growth as they redefine modern payments infrastructure.' The Series B funding builds on Payabli's growth over the past year, highlighted by a sevenfold increase in revenue and the activation of multiple billions in live processing volume, the company release stated. The platform now has over 50,000 merchants and has introduced embedded payments for enterprises in essential payment verticals, alongside multiple new integrations and partnerships. The company aims to enhance its product development with the new funding, focusing on AI-powered features to provide customised customer experiences. Payabli is harnessing the power of AI to streamline operations and enhance customer experiences. The company's first AI-driven support agent, Amigo, is stated to assist software companies with integration, support, and analytics through a chat-based interface. Payabli is also building 'advanced' risk and fraud detection models, leveraging NVIDIA's AI infrastructure to provide tailored risk assessments. Will Smith says Oscars slap fallout was brutal
Three years after he slapped comedian Chris Rock on stage at the Oscars, Will Smith says making a mistake so publicly was "brutal". "The last few years for me have been really deep reflection," the actor tells 1Xtra's Remi Burgz. "After the Oscars I shut it down for a minute and really went into the internal work and just taking a big, strong, honest look at myself." Will was banned from the awards ceremony for 10 years after he hit the comedian for joking about his wife's shaved head - a result of alopecia, a hair loss condition. "For the first time in my career, [I was] having to deal with a level of disapproval that I never had to experience," Will says. "The addiction to the approval of others that I had to dissolve, it was brutal." At the 2022 ceremony in Los Angeles, Chris Rock mocked Will's wife Jada's appearance. Clips showing Will immediately marching on stage and slapping him across the face and telling him to keep his wife's name out his mouth have been viewed millions of times online. Will resigned from the Oscars Academy shortly after, saying his actions were "shocking, painful, and inexcusable". The 56-year-old tells 1Xtra the fallout has also given him to time to reflect. "It was just like there was a manhole cover over some unexplored areas and the manhole cover came off," he says. "It was scary for a minute what was in there. "But then all of a sudden, all these new thoughts, new energies, new creativity came through like a geyser and it started showing up as music." Earlier this year Will released his first album in 20 years, Based On A True Story, and tells 1Xtra he asked for advice before heading back to the studio. "When I started writing, I called Jay Z and I called Kendrick," he says. "Kendrick said you have to say those things you've always been scared to say and Jay Z said don't even go near it if you're not trying to tell the truth." The new music hasn't been a hit with critics. Pitchfork said it was "excruciatingly corny" while Rolling Stone described it as "cringey... clunky and dated" in a two-and-a-half star review. But Will says it was a "fun way to express the madness of what goes on in my head". "It is the exploration of what I call the 'despicable prisoners'. "It's the parts of myself that have been banished, the parts of myself I'm not allowed to talk about on the radio, the part of myself I'm not even allowed to acknowledge is real. "Working in that space of authenticity, honesty and imperfection, allowing that to grow into a higher perfection than the imagery of Will Smith is where I am as an artist and as a human right now." Remi's full interview with Will Smith is available to stream on BBC Sounds. Why did Will Smith hit Chris Rock? Land of the Lost Reboot in the Works at Netflix
It appears that Marshall, Will and Holly will once again be embarking on a routine expedition that instead leads them to the la-annnnd of the lo-o-o-ossst! Netflix in partnership with Legendary TV is in the 'very early stages' of developing a reboot of the cheese-tastic 1970s cult classic Land of the Lost, Deadline and others are reporting. More from TVLine Bill Lawrence: Scrubs Revival 'Looks at How the System Has Changed' - And Who, Potentially, Has Scrubbed Out The Sandman's Final Season Trailer Features Dream's Return to Hell, Warns 'All Good Stories Come to an End' For First Time, Streaming Viewing Topped Broadcast and Cable Combined in May Sid and Marty Krofft, who developed the original series, as well as Marty's daughter Deanna Krofft Pope (the VP of development at their company), reportedly will produce the project. Neither Netflix nor Legendary are commenting on the trade reports. Land of the Lost, produced by '70s TV staples Sid and Marty Krofft, starred Spencer Milligan as Rick Marshall, who during a routine rafting expedition was transported via waterfall/time portal back to prehistoric times along with his son Will (Wesley Eure) and daughter Holly (Kathy Coleman). There, the family of three contended with dinosaurs, hissing lizard men known as Sleestak, and ape-like primates called Pakuni — including one named Cha-Ka (Phillip Paley), who befriended the Marshalls and eventually learned to speak English. Milligan left the series after two seasons after demanding that he and the cast be compensated for the show's various merchandising endeavors, including lunch boxes, coloring books and board games. He was replaced by Ron Harper, who played Will and Holly's uncle Jack in the third and final season. (Harper and Milligan both passed away in spring 2024.) A 2009 film comedy version of Land of the Lost starred Will Ferrell, Danny McBride, Anna Friel and Jorma Taccone. Best of TVLine 'Missing' Shows, Found!
