Tyson Fury branded 'biggest cheater in boxer' in scathing attack
An ex-rival of the former two-time heavyweight champion was quick to slam the Brit ahead of his return to the boxing ring next week Tyson Fury 's biggest rival Deontay Wilder has again accused the 'Gypsy King' of being a cheat in a scathing rant. The pair put on one of the most iconic trilogy fights in the history of the sport between 2018 and 2021. Wilder stunned the boxing world back in 2018, sending Fury crashing to the canvas in the final round of their first encounter - but the pair would go on to fight to a split draw in Los Angeles. Two years later, the pair were back in the ring. This time around, the judges were not needed as Fury went on to knock Wilder out in the seventh round before capping off the trilogy with another knockout victory over the 'Bronze Bomber' a year later. Wilder has always been very critical of the 'Gypsy King' and has thrown several 'cheating' accusations following the two defeats. However, there is no evidence to suggest any wrongdoing. Wilder once fired his then cornerman Mark Breland for pulling him out of the sequel too early and sensationally blamed his ring walk outfit for draining his energy just moments before touching gloves with the Brit. After their rematch, the American also claimed Fury illegally tampered with his own gloves. In a recent interview with Inside Boxing Live, when asked about his most disliked fighter that he has faced, Wilder replied: 'I mean, Fury is a cheater. He's the biggest cheater in boxing. I know what he is, they know what they are. Of course, he's the biggest [cheater] in boxing.' Fury has consistently denied any wrongdoing throughout their three fights. Taking to Instagram immediately after the rematch, the Brit said: "I've just read an article before saying that I might've had some blunt objects in my gloves? Yeah, two big 19 stone 7 - 275lbs destroyers in each glove. So yeah, getting punched up the temple may do that to you. "Not unless Deontay Wilder's own trainer Jay Deas was in on the conspiracy as well, along with all the Las Vegas State Commission guys who never left the room Jay Deas was in the room when I had my hands wrapped, he examined them. He was in there when I had my gloves put on, examined them. Yeah and everybody else was in the room, they don't leave you. We all know this." WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman later backed Fury after describing the allegations as "ridiculous". "It's ridiculous," Sulaiman told Sky Sports. "It's difficult to understand. I was present in both fights, I was in the dressing room, in both fights. Both Wilder and Fury dressing room. "One was in California, the other one was in Nevada. In both cases there were at least three inspectors, in each dressing room. I was there before and after the fight. I saw the hand wraps, I saw them with the gloves. I was in the ring when they came into the ring, and I was sitting right there during the fight. "At no moment, in either fight, I saw anything that would look suspicious whatsoever. After the fight, they take off the gloves, they are handed to the commission. It's very sad, because to try and take away something from a huge victory, one of the greatest nights of the sport in the century, to try and put a blemish on that event, is so irresponsible, and so stupid. It should not be given any consideration." Despite the stunning accusations, Wilder is preparing for his return to the ring next week. The 39-year-old will take on heavyweight journeyman Tyrrell Anthony Herndon at the Charles Koch Arena in Wichita. Wilder has not fought since suffering a devastating knockout to Zhilei Zhang last June.

Chris Wilder was sacked as Sheffield United manager after the club's failure to win promotion to the Premier League. Wilder paid the price for United's agonising Championship play-off final loss against Sunderland last season. United finished third in the Championship and beat Bristol City in the play-off semi-finals before blowing the lead in a 2-1 defeat by Sunderland, who scored a stoppage-time winner through Tommy Watson at Wembley. Wilder leaves Bramall Lane for the second time after a previous succesful spell in charge of his boyhood team ended in 2021. The 57-year-old, who led the Blades into the Premier League in 2019, returned in December 2023 after Paul Heckingbottom was sacked with the club bottom of the top flight. 'A Blade through and through, the legacy Chris and his staff have created here will never be forgotten, going right back to 2016 when he initially took the job with the club rooted in League One,' a club statement said.

AJ to make boxing return this year as two-fight Tyson Fury plan emerges
EXCLUSIVE: Anthony Joshua is recovering from elbow surgery but his team are plotting his ring return for late in 2025 after preferred opponent was ruled out due to being picked for Saudi fight Anthony Joshua is plotting a return late this year - with old rival Deontay Wilder on a shortlist of potential opponents. The British heavyweight star has not fought since he was knocked out by Daniel Dubois in an IBF title clash last September. But now 'AJ' - who is recovering from elbow surgery - is plotting his path to a Tyson Fury double-header next year and American Wilder is one option promoter Eddie Hearn is looking at. Wilder, 39, is returning to the ring next week against Tyrrell Herndon as he looks to shake off back-to-back defeats by Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang amid retirement calls. Hearn said: 'I don't see why not. I mean, we'd take that fight in October, November, December. It's still dangerous. Like someone said to me, oh, you think he'll be in a dangerous fight? I said, they're all f***ing dangerous, mate. "We want to fight Fury. And the plan for us is to fight October, November or December, and then fight Tyson twice. Or certainly once. And I can't see that fight not happening. As long as AJ comes through at the end of the year.' Joshua and Wilder were in talks around 2018 for what would have been an undisputed heavyweight title clash between two unbeaten fights but discussions broke down. American Jared Anderson, German Agit Kabayel and Efe Ajagba are other names Hearn is considering for Joshua's return. Former foe Dillian Whyte was in contention until he was matched with highly-rated star Moses Itauma for an August showdown in Saudi Arabia. Joshua is now 35 and has four defeats on his record after earlier career losses to Andy Ruiz Jnr and Oleksandr Usyk twice. Hearn believes 2026 will be the London 2012 Olympic champion's final year in the sport but won't rule out retirement earlier if he doesn't shine in his return bout later in 2025. The Matchroom chief added: 'The proof will be this fight. Like I said the other day, 2026 will probably be his last year in the sport. 'But this next fight will tell us everything. You know what I mean? If camp doesn't go well, if the performance isn't of the same level, you have to evaluate after each fight. The moment you don't look good in camp or don't start sparring well that's when you have to think about your position. But that's not happened yet.' Chris Eubank Jr will face Conor Benn in a rematch either on September 20 or October 4 after the September 27 date was ruled out due to the Premier League fixtures. Tottenham are at home to Wolves on the original date.

United's play-off final loss was a massive blow after they had been heavily involved in the race for automatic promotion. Leeds and Burnley took the automatic promotion places after United won just two of their final seven regular-season games. American-based consortium COH Sports, who completed a takeover in December last year, had handed Wilder a new contract until the end of the 2027-28 season in January.

Chris Wilder out as Sheffield United's US owners make managerial change
SHEFFIELD, England (AP) — Sheffield United parted ways with manager Chris Wilder on Wednesday after failing to secure a return to the Premier League. The club, which came under American ownership in late December, immediately installed Ruben Selles as Wilder's replacement. Sheffield United lost to Sunderland in the Championship playoff final at Wembley Stadium last month to miss out on promotion. Wilder was in his second spell at the Yorkshire club after leading it to promotion in his first stint from 2016-21. 'A Blade through and through, the legacy Chris and his staff have created here will never be forgotten,' Sheffield United said in a statement. U.S.-based COH Sports completed the purchase of Sheffield United in late December. The group is led by Steven Rosen and Helmy Eltoukhy, who became the club's co-chairmen. ___
