Author behind Jack Reacher series to headline Whitby festival
The author behind the Jack Reacher series is set to headline a new literary festival.
Lee Child will appear in conversation with TV personality Rob Rinder at the inaugural Whitby Lit Fest this November.
The pair will discuss Child's latest Reacher book, Exit Strategy, co-written with his brother Andrew Child, as well as his first autobiographical collection, The Stories Behind the Stories.
Kate Fenton, festival patron, author, and former BBC Radio 4 producer, said: "Whitby is a book lover's playground.
"I've been known to march protesting family members up the 199 steps at midnight to sit, as Bram Stoker's silly Lucy does, on a lonely bench in the gale-blasted churchyard, daring a bat to sweep down."
The festival will celebrate Whitby's literary heritage, including its ties to Bram Stoker's Dracula and to Charles Dickens, who stayed at the White Horse and Griffin whilst visiting Whitby.
Lois Kirtlan, committee chair at Whitby Lit Fest, said: "We're thrilled to welcome a literary giant like Lee Child to launch a landmark event for readers and writers alike."
Whitby Lit Fest will run from Thursday, November 6 to Sunday, November 9.
The full programme and ticket information will be released later in the year.
