Second half of thrilling North Wales season gets underway
Just 15 points separate the top-six teams in the division and with 18 points being awarded for victories, plenty more twists and turns are anticipated over the coming months. Northop are one of those sides in the mix for the top honour heading into tomorrow's trip to Gwersyllt Park. However, Jamie Griffiths, skipper of seventh-placed Park, wants a third win on the bounce for his team to put them in the conversation. Griffiths said: 'Every game is a challenge and we will never shy away from a challenge. 'Things are picking up. We all know what the jobs are we've got to do and people have got to take responsibilities. 'It's all about improving and we're still a long way from where we want to be, but we are making strides forward. 'It's a building process and this is a big game. If we can beat them, we are in the pack.' Northop bolstered their own lofty aims with a thrilling 13-run triumph at defending champions Mochdre last time out, inspired by a sparkling century from Jordan Evans. 'Jordan batted brilliantly and he is a class player,' said Northop captain Bart Ryan-Beswick. 'It was a good win and the lads bowled really well.' Northop will welcome Welsh international Romano Franco back into the side tomorrow and Ryan-Beswick is anticipating a tough test. He added: 'They are in good nick and it's never an easy place to go and play. 'We are at full strength, so we will give it a good go.' Brymbo have placed themselves in an excellent position after winning six of their matches so far. Dan Parry's side are in fourth position and there's a big game in store tomorrow as they play host to third-placed Mochdre. Parry said: 'This week it's a big game. All of them now are big games. 'There are nine games to go. It will be interesting to see where everybody is and what availability's like. 'We have got some wrongs to put right against Mochdre and so have they. 'We should have beaten them at their place at the start of the season.' Brymbo are weighing up a few changes to their line-up ahead of the match. In another tasty encounter, leaders Bangor pay a visit to fifth-placed Menai Bridge tomorrow, while second-placed St Asaph are at home to basement side Bethesda. In further action, Conwy are at Denbigh. A super Sunday is lined up in the Welsh Cup. Gwersyllt Park will be hoping to avoid a shock when they make the trip to Division One Mold. Meanwhile, an intriguing match-up is in store as Northop Hall welcome Brymbo. 'It will be a challenging game,' admitted Hall skipper Ben Slater. 'They're obviously a very, very good side.' The other tie sees Mochdre at home to Colwyn Bay. Northop were scheduled to be at St Asaph, but this tie has been rearranged for July 6.

Heavy rain and fish marred Ammanford's clash at Bridgend
The encounter took place on Saturday at Newbridge Fields, where heavy rain the previous night had caused the Ewenny River to overflow, flooding the fields. The situation was so dire that a beached fish was discovered just yards from the boundary, raising questions about the match's viability. Winning the toss proved crucial, as the home side opted to field first on a treacherous surface. A century partnership between Darren Davies Jr, who scored 63, and Nicholas Evans, who added 34, propelled Maesteg to a total of 186 for six. Aron Matthews was the pick of the bowlers for Ammanford, taking three wickets for 30 runs. The away side responded with a solid performance, led by opener John Jones, who scored 53, and Gavin Davies, who contributed 44. An unbeaten 31 from Ifan Jones ensured Ammanford crossed the finish line with just a single ball to spare. In the Premier League T20 KO Cup, Ammanford advanced to the next round with a straightforward seven-wicket win over Swansea. After being put in to bat, Swansea struggled to build momentum, finishing with 98 runs for eight wickets. Osian Webber top-scored for Swansea with 32 runs. Ammanford's Owen Davies took three wickets, while Craig Maloney and Daniel Rees claimed two each. In response, Owain Baxter led the charge with an unbeaten 38, supported by Maloney's 31, as Ammanford reached their target with an over to spare. Next Saturday, Ammanford will host Abergavenny at the Park, looking to bounce back from their recent league defeat, and Llandysul in the Welsh Cup on Sunday.

Boss Shannon leaves Flint Mountain after three great seasons
The resignations of Shannon and his assistant Jonny Hill have been accepted by the Essity Stadium club on the back of three successful seasons in charge. A statement on the club website read: "Aden and Jonny joined the club in the summer of 2022, following our promotion to the Ardal North West League. "In their debut season, they guided the team to a commendable fourth-place finish. "Their second season was marked by remarkable success, with the club finishing as league champions and securing promotion to the JD Cymru North for the first time in our history. "That same season also saw triumph in the NEWFA Challenge Cup, a runners-up finish in the Ardal Northern Cup, and an impressive run to the quarter-finals of the JD Welsh Cup. "In our debut Cymru North campaign last season, the team achieved a strong seventh-place finish, securing Tier 2 football for the coming season. "Flint Mountain Football Club extends its sincere gratitude to Aden and Jonny for their dedication, professionalism, and contribution to the club's continued progression. We wish them both every success in their future endeavours. "Further announcements regarding the first team managerial position will follow in due course."

Awesome quartet of awards over at Connah's Quay Nomads
The club secured four prizes in the FAW National League Awards, which took place in Cardiff. In the Adran North section, Nomads' unbeaten season was recognised by three awards. Jordan Parry was named as the league's manager of the season, while there was double joy for Polly Wild-McGregor. The Connah's Quay skipper, who scored 21 goals from midfield, made it a season to remember by winning the Adran North player of the season and young player of the campaign accolades. Added to this, there was also success for the club in the men's awards. Former Wales U21 international Rhys Hughes was the standout performer for Connah's Quay Nomads over the course of the campaign and his impressive displays earned him the Cymru Premier player of the season award. Hughes joined the Nomads from Tranmere Rovers last summer and he featured in every league fixture. He scored 15 goals for Connah's Quay and Hughes also helped Nomads to reach the final of the Welsh Cup for the second consecutive season, where they were pipped 2-1 by league champions The New Saints. Former Wrexham striker Louis Lloyd, the league's joint-top goalscorer, claimed the young player of the season accolade and The New Saints' Craig Harrison was named as the manager of the season. Wrexham duo Abbie Iddenden and Lili Jones missed out on Adran Premier awards. Iddenden, who scored nine goals and supplied nine assists as the Reds finished the season in fourth place, was a nominee for player of the season, which went to Cardiff City's Shannon Evans. Midfielder Jones, who finished joint-third in the assists chart with seven, lost out to Cardiff's Fiona Barry for the young player prize. Rhys James, of Briton Ferry Llansawel, took the manager of the season nod. Iddenden and Jones were named in the league's team of the season, while a special recognition award went the way of Cheryl Foster. Earlier this year, Foster brought the curtain down on a playing and refereeing career that broke down boundaries and made history in both the Welsh domestic game and on the international stage. Now overseeing refereeing pathways with the English FA, Foster's achievements were celebrated with this award. Four Nomads players - Molly France, Wild-McGregor, Evie Chard and Ella Jones - were included in the Adran North team of the season. Also in the line-up is Flint's Taylia Chaloner. Airbus were acknowledged in the Cymru North awards, with Kaiden Cooke being named as young player of the season. The teenager scored seven goals in 28 games for the Wingmakers to establish himself as an important part of Mark Allen's side. Striker Danny Warren picked up the Cymru North top scorer award, while Colwyn Bay chief Michael Wilde claimed the manager of the season accolade and the player of the season nod went to Seagulls' captain Sam Hart. Three Airbus players - Jordan Evans, Warren and George Peers - are included in the Cymru North team of the season. They are joined by Buckley Town's Adam Smith and Holywell Town's Jamie Breese.

Bala Town facing cuts of 'up to 30%'
Bala Town are facing cuts of up to 30% following a "hugely difficult and challenging 12 months" for the this month, the Lakesiders announced Colin Caton, the Cymru Premier's longest serving manager, had resigned after 22 years and 880 games in charge at Maes Tegid."The club will be forever grateful to Colin for his outstanding service, his complete commitment to the position, his dedication, his enthusiasm, his determination, his professionalism and his outstanding achievements," Bala said in a club secretary Ruth Crump says Bala are assessing their expenditure in full amid a major financial struggle at the Gwynedd outfit."We're looking into everything at the club in terms of our spending, facilities, training, we're looking at cuts everywhere," Crump told BBC Radio Cymru's Ar y Marc."We're looking at between 20% and 30% (in cuts)." Crump added: "The challenges that we as a small club face within the Cymru Premier have been discussed extensively, but no help or solutions have come to help alleviate those concerns."The challenges have had a personal impact on a number of people involved with the club, but we are determined to continue our journey at the highest level of football in Wales."Caton guided Bala to a first ever Welsh Cup in 2017 and led the Lakesiders to Nathaniel MG Cup glory in Caton's exit, Crump added: "I've been in shock over these past few days, I wasn't expecting it at all."I thought Colin was carrying on for at least another year. It's really sad and I've been very upset by it all."
