Assam, Arunachal inch closer towards boundary solution
1 2 3 4 5 6 Dibrugarh: Cabinet ministers from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have held crucial talks to resolve decades-old boundary disputes, marking another step towards ending one of the region's most persistent administrative challenges. The fifth meeting of regional committees representing Assam's Dhemaji district and Arunachal Pradesh's Lower Siang and East Siang districts convened at the ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute at Gogamukh in Dhemaji on Tuesday. The session was jointly chaired by Assam cabinet minister Jayanta Mallabaruah and Arunachal Pradesh cabinet minister Kento Jini. The committees focused on 13 unresolved border disputes between the districts, with discussions aimed at formulating time-bound solutions to all outstanding issues. "A consensus was built, and we are moving towards an amicable solution," said Mallabaruah, reflecting the cooperative tone that has defined recent inter-state negotiations. Echoing the optimism, Jini said, "The discussions were productive. I'm hopeful that under the visionary leadership of both chief ministers, we'll reach a permanent resolution within the next two months. This will further strengthen the bond of brotherhood between our states. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Top Doctor: If You Eat Eggs Every Day, This Is What Happens WellnessGuide Learn more Undo " The meeting was part of a broader reconciliation push launched after the historic Namsai Declaration, signed in July 2022 by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu. The agreement laid out a framework for resolving disputes involving 86 villages along the shared 804km border. The Assam-Arunachal Pradesh boundary dispute dates back to 1951, when the North-East Frontier Tract — later renamed Arunachal Pradesh — was separated administratively from Assam without clearly defined borders. The issue persisted even after Arunachal Pradesh attained statehood in 1987, leading to administrative challenges and periodic friction between border communities. Senior officials from both states attended the meeting. Assam's delegation included minister Ranoj Pegu, MP Pradan Baruah, MLA Bhubon Pegu, and Lakhimpur DC Rahul Suresh Javir. Arunachal Pradesh was represented by deputy speaker Kardo Nyigyor, MLA Tojir Kadu, and Lower Siang DC Rujjum Rakshap. The collaborative model marks a shift from the adversarial stances that have historically defined northeast border disputes. By forming joint committees with shared leadership and equal representation, both states have embraced dialogue and mutual accommodation over rigid territorial claims. The next phase of talks will focus on practical mechanisms for demarcation and joint administration of previously disputed areas — bringing the states closer to resolving a 74-year-old territorial uncertainty.

Aligarh man arrested after domestic row over using wife's soap
Aligarh: It began where many domestic catastrophes do — in the bathroom. A 39-year-old man in Aligarh's Quarsi area was arrested after a heated argument with his wife when he used her toilet soap. Tempers flared further, cops arrived, and before the day was out, Praveen Kumar, once a team leader at a retail firm, found himself in police custody, alleging custodial violence. The soap in question was, one imagines, unremarkable — mass-produced and scented in that faintly medicinal way of supermarket toiletries. But on Friday, when Kumar emerged from his bath, freshly scrubbed and unaware of the domestic boat he had just rocked, his wife exploded with the fury of a woman whose personal boundaries had been tested and trespassed upon. "She got angry with me for using her soap," Kumar said later. "I told her, 'You always use my stuff and I never object.' She, though, called the police." The police allegedly escorted Kumar to the thana against his will. There, he claims, the situation deteriorated. "Police beat me up with sticks and registered a case against me, though it was a minor domestic row," Kumar said. He was later released on bail. Quarsi SHO Narendra Sharma offered the more officious version of events. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Forget Furosemide, Use This Household Item To Help Drain Edema Fluid WellnessGuide Learn more "We received information that the man assaulted his wife. He was brought to the station, and a case of disturbing the peace was registered. Further investigation is underway." The couple, who have been married for 13 years and have two children, were both sent for medical examination. Police charged Kumar under section 151 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which allows for arrest without a warrant in order to prevent an offence. Kumar, for his part, said this was not the first time a marital disagreement had escalated into a police visit. "She often fought with me and called the police," he said. "Thank God I got bail." DSP Sarvam Singh denied the allegations of custodial violence. "There is a video in which he can be seen misbehaving with the police team that went to the spot. The couple had minor injuries during the scuffle; therefore, both were sent to the hospital for medical treatment. The accused was charged and produced before the magistrate." Police also said that during the inquiry, the woman alleged her husband had a history of harassment and physical abuse over petty matters. They are now probing if the soap was a final straw or a red herring in a deeper conflict. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . Patna: DM Thiyagarajan SM on Monday said the administration is "fully prepared" to handle any flood, drought or urban water-logging in the coming monsoon and has placed all agencies on "mission mode". Speaking at a review meeting at the Collectorate, Thiyagarajan said, "Ensuring safety of lives and timely relief during floods is the top priority and all arrangements are being made in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the disaster management department." Zonal officials, including Circle Officers and SHOs, along with Sub-Divisional Officers and SDPOs, will respond immediately in the event of a flood, he added. The DM stressed the need for inter-departmental coordination and round-the-clock readiness. The agriculture department has been asked to activate a contingency crop plan in case drought occurs. "Areas along the Ganga from Maner to Mokama, and regions along the Punpun and Dardha rivers in Masaurhi and Patna City, are flood-prone," the DM said. Citing the 2019 city-wide flooding, he ordered full desiltation of the nine main drains (Serpentine Nullah, Bypass nullah (NCC and KBC region), Bakarganj Nullah, Rajiv Nagar Nullah, Anandpuri Nullah, Mandiri Nullah, Yogipur Nullah, and Saidpur Nullah), encroachment-free channels and round-the-clock readiness of drainage pumping stations and sump houses with power and diesel back-up. The district has 26 rain gauges operational, with automated systems installed at all panchayats. Eleven flood relief cells have been activated, and a 24x7 district control room is operational at 0612-2210118. Task forces, and zonal officers have been deputed at panchayat and block levels. Medical preparedness includes the formation of mobile medical teams, availability of essential drugs, and setup of temporary shelters with water, toilets, mosquito nets, and sanitary kits along with other necessary resources. "All embankments are safe, resources have been stocked and communication networks strengthened," Dr Thiyagarajan said, directing officials to finish all embankment repairs before June 15.

Walking has numerous health advantages and is a low-impact aerobic activity. Simple and no-equipment workout: walking can be one of the best ways to stay in shape. It's a fantastic method to control weight, elevate mood, and strengthen the heart. However, you can overdo it, just like with other activities. You may be wondering how much walking is too much if you now walk for exercise or intend to start. The response is contingent upon multiple circumstances. The following information will help you determine how much walking is too much for you. How many steps should you take each day? Even while 10,000 steps is an often mentioned goal, your daily step count will vary depending on your age, degree of fitness, and health objectives. Aiming for 8,000–10,000 steps a day is generally a decent baseline, although even fewer steps can have positive health effects. Long-distance walking has advantages that can make the effort worthwhile. Increasing your step count may help you live a longer life in addition to reducing your chances of type 2 diabetes and boosting heart health. 'Too much walking' is a relative concept. Your degree of fitness, experience, and general health all play a role. After a vigorous 30-minute walk, a novice hiker may feel pain, but an experienced hiker may go painlessly for hours. There's no one-size-fits-all solution, but it's important to pay attention to your body. Perhaps you follow the "hot girl walk" fad on TikTok, or perhaps you've embraced the urban hiking movement, which for some people is walking up to 10 to 15 kilometers per day. Walking, or any exercise for that matter, has no "maximal" limit. Side effects of walking too much Old pain flare up It's common for old ailments, such as a hurting knee, to recur. Increased risk of injury: Overtraining soreness can result in poor walking form and posture, which can raise the risk of injury. Additionally, compared to when they are properly rested, sore or wounded joints are more vulnerable to an unexpected, serious injury. Calluses and blisters Calluses and blisters may develop on or around your feet if you've been walking a lot lately. Although they are typical with new shoes, recurrent calluses or blisters may be a sign of poor gait or poorly fitting footwear. Recurring fatigue Your capacity to exercise is impacted by overtraining. Overtrainers become tired easily. You might have heavy breathing and find it difficult to talk in complete words, even at a reduced speed. At this point, you ought to pause and consult a medical professional to help direct your recuperation. Swelling in limbs Swelling and pain in feet indicate that a recent walk was either too long or too strenuous. You can experience a decline in your performance and heavy, tight muscles if you walk consistently for a longer duration. Mood swings While walking may be a mood booster, walking too much may generate anxiety. Psychological symptoms like depression and anger may arise if you keep walking too much or too intensely. How to maintain walking routine within a healthy limit Starting with no more than 15 minutes of walking at a moderate pace is an excellent technique for beginners. You'll know you're at the proper pace when you can talk in complete sentences without breathing significantly. Next, increase the amount of time you spend walking each week by a few minutes until you reach 30 minutes of vigorous walking. You should be breathing through your lips instead of your nose, but you should be able to speak in complete phrases. Try to walk at least three days a week to reap the full benefits of walking. You should exercise in other ways besides walking, such as strength training, flexibility training, and balancing exercises.
