'I could not be happier' - Cumbrian castle employee wins Unsung Hero award
An employee at Muncaster Castle has been recognised with an Unsung Hero award. Hannah Clapp won the award at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2025 finals. Her hard work and behind-the-scenes contributions at the castle were celebrated at the ceremony in Brighton. She was then able to secure a place in the VisitEngland finals. Ms Clapp, head of experiences at Muncaster Castle, said: "I am absolutely delighted that all the hard work we put in at Muncaster has been recognised at a national level in the tourism Oscars. "I could not be happier. "It is such an exciting time to be at Muncaster and a huge thank you to everyone for their support." The team at Muncaster Castle said they are proud of Hannah's achievement. A spokesperson for the Cumbrian castle said: "Her recognition at this level is a testament not only to her personal commitment but also to the passion and hard work of everyone working to share Muncaster Magic with the world."

People enjoyed plenty of warm spring sunshine in Somerset this week, with the outlook looking good for more of the same in the coming Yeovil Town FC made national headlines after owner Martin Hellier became embroiled in arguments with fans online, and the County Championship cricket season got under take a look at some of the best photos across the county this week. What a sight: The County Ground in Taunton was looking great this week as Somerset began their season at home to Worcestershire. Spring has sprung: People enjoyed the warm weather in Weston-super-Mare this week. Parts of the UK were hotter than Ibiza at times and temperatures are expected to continue to remain high into next week. Camping season: Mendip Basecamp, a campsite set in the heart of the Mendip Hills, has been announced as a national finalist in the Visit England Awards for Excellence 2025, in the category of Camping, Glamping and Holiday Park of the Year. Talented musicians: Taunton School has seen its students achieve a range of fantastic results across a variety of recent music competitions and events. Students took part in the Taunton Festival of the Arts 2025, walking away with dozens of trophies across a range of categories. Football drama: Yeovil Town made national headlines after owner Martin Hellier became embroiled in arguments with fans online and issued banning orders to some as a result. He has since stood down as chairman, with Stuart Robins taking on the role on an interim basis.
