State-level yoga for differently-abled held
Anantapur: As part of the 'Yogandhra' initiative, a State-level yoga prog for the differently-abled was organised at the police parade grounds in Anantapur on Saturday morning. The event witnessed active participation from public representatives and district officials. The programme was formally inaugurated with a lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by yoga demonstrations performed by local MLA Daggubati Venkateswara Prasad, District Collector Dr Vinod Kumar V, ZP Chairperson Boya Girijamma, Joint Collector Shiv Narayan Sharma, and other dignitaries. Several key officials participated in the event, including State SC Corporation Director Kamalamma, directors from various corporations, DRO A Malola, Assistant Director of Welfare for Differently-Abled Vinod, DMHO Dr EB Devi, RDO Keshava Naidu, district officers from various departments, AYUSH doctors Dr Ram Kumar and Dr Lalyanayak, yoga instructors, and a large number of differently-abled participants. The event highlighted the importance of yoga for physical and mental well-being and showcased inclusive participation under the state's commitment to welfare and empowerment.

Rapido e-bikes distributed to SHG members
Anantapur: In a pioneering initiative aimed at empowering women, Rapido e-bikes were distributed to Self-Help Group (SHG) women members for the first time in India. The programme was launched under the aegis of MEPMA (Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas). The launch event was held at the Police Parade Grounds in Anantapur, and was formally inaugurated by MLA Daggubati and District Collector Dr Vinod Kumar V in the presence of MEPMA and municipal officials. As part ofthe scheme, 250 Rapido e-bikes have been sanctioned for Anantapur district. In the first phase, 20 e-bikes were distributed to selected women beneficiaries. 'This is an innovative step towards enablingwomen to achieve self-employment,' said MLA Daggubati while addressing the gathering. He added that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu launched this programme as a pro-women initiative, firmly committed to women's empowerment. Referring to the 'Thalliki Vandhanam' scheme, the MLA highlighted that: 'Under this scheme, a financial aid of ₹15,000 has been provided to every eligible household, unlike the previous regime which promised to give to all but delivered to only one person per family.' He emphasized that the government is implementing the scheme sincerely with a commitment of ₹10,000 crore and expressed special thanks to Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh for their dedication and support to women'swelfare.

Agricultural season begins in Anantapur dist
Anantapur: Marking the beginning of agricultural season, Eruvaka Pournami celebrations were held in Korrakodu village of Kuderu mandal, Uravakonda constituency. District Collector Dr Vinod Kumar V till the soil with traditional bullocks and a plough, and sowing seeds in a field. He expressed hope for abundant rainfall and a prosperous harvest this year. The Collector claimed that the government is fully committed to supporting farmers. 'Eruvaka Pournami is being held in all the districts in view of the upcoming Kharif season,' he noted. He said that distribution of groundnut and other seeds has already commenced, and the district has successfully met the assigned seed distribution targets. Highlighting the State's preparedness, he mentioned that several issues faced by farmers at the field level are being actively addressed. He added that they are expecting about 40% excess rainfall this year. He reiterated the government's promise to stand by every farmer and assured that all agricultural necessities would be made available through Rythu Seva Kendras. As part of the initiative to encourage millets cultivation, mini kits containing seeds of crops like ragi and red gram were distributed to farmers. The Collector also handed over groundnut seed packets and Soil Health Cards to them. ‘Shining Stars' inspires students in Anantapur: Collector
Anantapur: District Collector Dr Vinod Kumar V and Raptadu MLA Paritala Sunitha felicitated high-achieving students during the 'Shining Stars - 2025' programme held at GR Function Hall in Anantapur. Organised by the Department of Education, the event honored 10th and Intermediate toppers with medals, certificates, and ₹20,000 cheques each. Speaking at the event, the Collector emphasized that these shining stars should serve as an inspiration for their peers, encouraging all students to develop a passion for learning. He highlighted that students from Anantapur district had secured top ranks in state-level exams and praised their perseverance, especially those who overcame hardships like the loss of parents. He urged students to avoid distractions like mobile phones, stay physically active, and follow disciplined routines. He motivated them to dream big be it becoming software engineers, IAS or IPS officers, or CEOs and suggested that watching documentaries and following government updates on social media could be enriching. MLA Paritala Sunitha appreciated Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Education Minister Nara Lokesh for initiating the Shining Stars programme. She applauded the recognition given to students who scored exceptionally well in SSC and Intermediate exams, even under challenging circumstances. She encouraged girl students to compete equally with boys and strictly advised all students to stay away from mobile phone usage. A total of 184 SSC students and 35 Intermediate students were felicitated. The event concluded with a group photo and lunch with the Collector and MLA. Various education officials, corporation directors, and parents also attended the ceremony.

Preparations in full swing for ‘Shining Stars' prog tomorrow
Anantapur: District Collector Dr Vinod Kumar V directed officials from all concerned departments to make comprehensive arrangements for the prestigious 'Shining Stars' programme scheduled to be held on June 9. During a video conference conducted from the Anantapur District Collectorate camp office on Saturday, the Collector reviewed preparations for the Yogandhra Mass Yoga Event, Shining Stars initiative, and the one-year completion of the current State government. The Collector stated that under the Shining Stars initiative, 184 Class 10 students and 35 Intermediate students would be felicitated with a medal, certificate, and a cash prize of ₹20,000 each. He instructed officials to finalize the venue and ensure that all arrangements are in place for a successful programme. Additionally, he emphasized proper planning for the Yogandhra event to be held on June 8 at Shilparamam in the city. Regarding the completion of one year of the new government on June 12, Dr Vinod Kumar instructed officials to organize inauguration ceremonies on June 11 for various newly sanctioned and ongoing infrastructure projects. He urged department heads to coordinate with local public representatives to make these events impact full. The Collector also emphasized the need to distribute various assets and kickstart development projects in villages, particularly focusing on form ponds and other critical works. He directed Constituency Special Officers to hold meetings with Mandal-level officers and organize constituency-level programmes in coordination. Highlighting a state level event scheduled in Amaravati on June 12 from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM, he advised informing ministers, public representatives, directors, and district officials to participate. He stressed adopting a team approach and ensuring seamless coordination among departments to execute all the planned activities successfully.
