Anupam Kher breaks down the ‘richness' of Kashmiri cuisine
Mumbai: Veteran actor Anupam Kher, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film 'Metro... In Dino', is lavishing praise on the cuisine of his homeland, Kashmir. The actor recently spoke with IANS in the run-up to the film's release, and recollected the time when he introduced actor Vinay Pathak to the Kashmiri cuisine during the shooting of 'Khosla Ka Ghosla', an earlier story which was published by IANS. Walking down the memory lane, Anupam shared how it all happened. He told IANS, 'I introduced Vinay to Kashmiri food, and he said, 'Kashmiri food is like this?' I said, 'Yes'. I introduced the cuisine to him, and I was very happy. Because he thought it must be something else. I read a lot about it recently that Vinay Pathak spoke about the incident. It was just somebody introducing me to Japanese food, a long time back'. He further mentioned, 'The richness of Kashmiri food is that there is no tomato, no onion and no garlic in it. And yet it is the tastiest cuisine. But that way India is a very rich country in terms of food. After every 500 km, you get new food. Gujarati, Marathi and different kinds of thaalis'. Earlier, Vinay had told IANS, 'I remember, Anupam introduced me to Kashmiri food for the first time. I am a vegetarian, so I thought, Kashmiri food is not for me. He told me, 'You're in for a treat. We will take you to a place'. And, he introduced me to a place in Delhi for Kashmiri cuisine. And, I fell in love with Kashmiri cuisine. We used to leave the game to give our shots. Sometimes we would play 20 questions. Anupam taught us 3-4 new games'. Presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series presents, in association with Anurag Basu Productions Pvt. Besides this, he has also done some impeccable performances in films like Dasvidaniya, Chhoti Si Baat, and Gaur Hari Dastaan. But what stood out was his ability to make every character feel real and relatable. Vinay Pathak's contribution to cinema isn't just limited to acting. He has been a theatre teacher, guest lecturer, and mentor to many aspiring actors. Recently, he got a lot of praise for his work in the film Chidiya and the web series Gram Chikitsalay. Three of a family, one other killed in Agra-eway accident
Kanpur: Four people, including three from a family, died in a road accident on Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Unnao district on Sunday afternoon. Three persons, including two men and two women, died at the scene, while one succumbed to injuries during treatment. On being informed, the police arrived at the scene and sent the bodies for post-mortem. They were travelling from Lucknow to Ghaziabad. A high-speed car rammed into a container truck at kilometre 230 of the expressway causing immediate death of three passengers—Vinay Pathak (52), Umesh Kumar (45), and Seema Upadhyai (55). Seema's daughter, Arushi Upadhyai (26), who was injured in the accident, was rushed to Tirwa Medical College. She was later referred to Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) Hospital for treatment, where she succumbed. The car occupants were travelling from Lucknow to Ghaziabad. Circle officer (CO) Bangarmau Arvind Chaurasia said around 1pm on Sunday, the police received information about the accident. Meanwhile, the fourth deceased has been identified as Umesh Kumar, but his relation with the other deceased and address is still unknown, said the CO. The CO stated that the car involved in the accident, number UP 14 FK 4045, is registered under the name of Pooja Mishra from Ghaziabad. It is estimated that the car was at a high speed. The airbags opened during the collision, but the impact was so severe that the car was completely wrecked.
