Reach out to disgruntled members, Shah tells state brass

Bengaluru: Union home minister Amit Shah Friday took note of ongoing dissidence within the Karnataka unit of the party and suggested state brass reach out to disgruntled members and set things right. Dissidence has caused severe unrest among party ranks with three MLAs — Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, Shivaram Hebbar and ST Somashekar — being expelled in the recent past. On a visit to Bengaluru to inaugurate the Adichunchanagiri University Bengaluru campus, Shah Friday met with brass of the state unit, including state president BY Vijayendra, opposition leader R Ashoka, deputy opposition leader Arvind Bellad, and Lok Sabha MP and former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai. At the meeting, Shah reportedly acknowledged internal discord and urged state office-bearers to reach out to disgruntled party members. A BJP functionary said, "Brass has been asked to take everyone along." Sources also say that the state unit requested Shah to clarify uncertainty surrounding the party state presidency, saying it would ease dissidence within the ranks. Vijayendra later told reporters that Shah had "advised them to double efforts" to combat the "corrupt Congress govt". by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo "We discussed the political scenario in Karnataka and current developments," Vijayendra said. Meanwhile, questions surfaced regarding BJP patron and former chief minister BS Yediyurappa's stance on Union minister Pralhad Joshi's involvement in engaging with dissidents to resolve the rebellion. Yediyurappa expressed support for such efforts, saying he too was in favour of such a move and that he will "follow suit". Ayushman Bharat has helped 60cr: Shah While addressing the gathering during the inauguration Adichunchanagiri University campus on the outskirts of the city, Shah said the Centre's Ayushman Bharat health insurance has helped 60 crore citizens. A lot of discontent in the BJP, no one is happy, says Yatnal

There is a lot of discontent in the BJP in State . No one is happy. The only way to fix it is by removing B.Y. Vijayendra from the post of the State president, Basanagouda R. Patil Yatnal, MLA who was expelled from the BJP, said in Vijayapura on Friday. 'The State unit of the BJP is in the Intensive Care Unit. There is no proper coordination with the alliance partner JD(S). All the leaders are sold out. Instead of acting as active leaders of a responsible opposition party, they are acting as per the wishes of the ruling party leaders, he told reporters. He said that the State leaders were trying to present a false picture of the state unit's activities before the central leaders, while betraying the common party workers,' he said. According to him, Mr. Vijayendra was responsible for this State of the party. 'Many senior leaders are acting as per the directions of Congress leaders. Mr. Vijayendra seeks the permission of Minister Priyank Kharge before visiting Kalaburagi. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar are keeping the opposition inactive, by threatening Mr. Yediyurappa and Mr. Vijayendra of filing or proceeding with criminal cases against them. At least now, senior leaders like Amit Shah should understand that the BJP can not depend on Mr. Yediyurappa or his family members for ever,' he said. He criticised the Congress government in the State as an anti-Hindu government. 'If Mr. Siddaramaiah is allowed to be Chie Minister for the next three years, he will turn Karnataka into a Kerala or a West Bengal. Unfortunately, the State BJP is not raising its voice against such actions by the Congress,' Mr. Yatnal said.

Speaking to reporters, Vijayendra said, 'This morning, I along with former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Opposition Leader R Ashoka, and MLA Aravind Bellad met Amit Shah ji. We discussed the political scenario in Karnataka and current developments.' He alleged that the state government is making decisions solely to appease minority communities, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with a vision of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas', ensures justice for all communities–Hindus and minorities alike. Karnataka BJP chief slams 15% muslim housing quota: ‘Siddaramaiah can stoop to any level to appease'

Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra on Friday strongly criticised the state cabinet's decision to increase reservation for minorities under various housing schemes from 10 per cent to 15 per cent, calling it appeasement politics by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Congress government. Speaking to ANI, Vijayendra said, "...Chief Minister Siddaramaiah can stoop to any level to appease is of doing appeasement politics, they should stress on providing education to the is not against minorities, but is against anti-national will take up this issue in the assembly and also hit the streets." Vijayendra questioned the Congress's claim of following Ambedkar's ideology, saying, "Congress leaders, including CM Siddaramaiah, repeatedly claim they're champions of the Dalits... but this is not what people expect." Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's schemes, he said benefits like Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Yojana and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao reached every section of society, unlike the Congress's religion-specific approach. "Let them stress upon education to the minorities. Let them educate people. The Congress party, after independence, never did this. If Muslims are still below the poverty line, it is only because of the Congress's attitude," he added. The BJP chief also announced that the party would raise the issue in the state assembly and protest across Karnataka. "They're only trying to fool the people of Karnataka... The High Court has clearly said it was the fault of the political leadership. At least after the court's observation, the CM should accept it," Vijayendra told ANI. Referring to the recent stampede in Bengaluru's Chikkaballapur, Vijayendra blamed the Chief Minister and Deputy CM, calling it a failure of governance. "Unfortunately, innocent officials, senior IPS officers, including the Bengaluru City Commissioner, have been made scapegoats. Bureaucracy is losing hope in this government," he alleged. Earlier, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi condemned the move, calling it unconstitutional by referring to the Supreme Court's 'rejection' of religion-based reservation. Speaking to ANI, Joshi said, "This is against the Constitution. The Supreme Court has also rejected a religion-based reservation. This reduces the quota for OBC, ST, and poor people from the general caste. The Karnataka government is doing the politics of appeasement. I condemn this. We will also approach the court against this." On Thursday, the Karnataka Cabinet approved an increase in the reservation quota for minority communities under various housing schemes from 10 per cent to 15 per cent. Karnataka Minister HK Patil stated that this move does not require any new rules to be drafted."The reservation for all minority communities will be increased. There are Christians, Jains, Buddhists," the Minister said. (ANI)
