Two local first responder departments go head-to-head in ‘Battle of the Badges'
VERNON (KFDX/KJTL) — Get ready to watch two teams head to head on Thursday, March 27, for the Battle of the Badges. This event will occur at 6:30 p.m. at the D.O. Fulton Gym in Vernon, with doors opening at 6 p.m. The Vernon Police Department and Vernon Fire Department will compete in a friendly yet competitive game of basketball. Whoever wins will get bragging rights, but it will all be for a good cause. Admission to this event is all by donation. The proceeds will be donated to a local non-profit chosen by the police and fire departments. Driver trapped in car rescued after a rollover crash in Vernon Sunday
One person was trapped and sustained non-life-threatening injuries following a rollover crash in Vernon on Sunday afternoon, according to the Vernon Fire Department. Firefighters were dispatched to the area 137 Boston Road just after noon and found the vehicle on its side with the driver trapped inside, according to the town of Vernon Fire Department's Facebook post. The firefighters used a 'handheld glass saw to cut open the windshield of the vehicle and the driver was removed with a scoop-board,' according to the Vernon Fire Department. The driver was transported to the hospital and the one-vehicle crash is under investigation by the Vernon Police Department.
