UP has become land of expressways from bimaru state: UP CM Yogi Adityanath
Azamgarh (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 20 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath hailed the state government on Friday and said that it is working towards fulfilling the goal of 'Viksit Bharat' by the year 2046. CM Yogi asserted that Uttar Pradesh has changed its reputation and has become a state of 'expressways' from a 'bimaru' state. CM Yogi inaugurated the 91.35 km long Gorakhpur Link Expressway in Azamgarh on Friday, connecting several districts to Gorakhpur including Azamgarh. He recalled the time when people were afraid of the name of Azamgarh but expressed his happiness that it has joined the path of 'development'. 'The double engine government of the BJP is working to fulfil the goal of 'Viksit Bharat' by Pradesh has now made its reputation as a state with expressways from a 'Bimaru' years ago, people were afraid to take the name of Azamgarh, has now joined the path of Expressway was inaugurated by PM Modi in 2021', CM Yogi said. Critising the previous state government, CM Yogi Adityanath said that the work of the Agra-Lucknow Expressway was half done but during his tenure projects related to six expressways in the state have been completed. 'The work on the Agra Lucknow Expressway was half done. Today I am happy to tell you that we have completed six projects. You are witnessing the journey of the Purvanchal Expressway. We are continuously building it since 2021. In 2022, the Bundelkhand Expressway has been started. It is 300 km long. The 340 km long Purvanchal Expressway has already been completed and its connectivity to Patna is about to be completed. Now remember how easy the connectivity from Patna to Lucknow and Lucknow to Delhi will become', CM Yogi said. He stated that the 340 km-long Purvanchal Expressway is about to extend its connectivity to Patna. He called freedom fighter Veer Kunwar Singh and said that if the Purvanchal Expressway had been built in 1857, India would have become independent at that time. 'When Veer Kunwar Singh, the hero of the first war of independence in 1857, fought the British till Azamgarh to defeat them, there was no connectivity. If this Purvanchal Expressway had been there at that time, the people of Azamgarh would have beaten the British along with Veer Kunwar Singh and then this country would have become independent in 1857 itself. There was no connectivity at that time', he added. Hailing Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua, during his tenure as the MP of Azamgarh, CM Yogi stated that when he was sent to the Parliament, a music college in Hariharpur was approved. He attacked the opposition and asserted that people who made Azamgarh a 'stronghold' of terror didn't have enough time to honour the black pottery, sarees and music of the district. 'He was sent to the country's parliament, and as soon as Dinesh Lal Yadav became an MP, we approved a music college in Hariharpur. Just think, in Hariharpur, a gharana of this music needed recognition. The Kayan Badal dance was performed by all the MLAs here together, but those who had made Azamgarh a stronghold of terror could not find them. They did not have enough time to honour black pottery, to honour the sarees of Azamgarh, to honour the music department of Hariharpur village, to give a university to Azamgarh, to connect Azamgarh with air connectivity', CM Yogi added. PM recalls Madhubani pledge to hit terrorists
Patna: , addressing a rally in Bikramganj on Friday, recalled his visit to Madhubani last month, a day after the Pahalgam terror attack, where he pledged swift justice. "From Madhubani, I gave my word that those behind the attack would face a punishment beyond their imagination. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Today, as I return to Bihar, I have fulfilled that pledge," he said. Modi likened terrorism to a serpent, vowing that if it dares raise its hood again, it will be "dragged from its hole and trampled." He said the Indian armed forces had reduced to rubble the hideouts of those who masterminded the Pahalgam attack from across the border. Referring to the military response, he said was "just an arrow in the quiver," saying that India's battle against terrorism is far from over. Paying homage to the land of Veer Kunwar Singh, Modi praised Bihar's legacy of courage, particularly highlighting the contributions of young men from the state serving in the armed forces and the Border Security Force (BSF). He lauded the BSF's bravery during Operation Sindoor, describing them as "an unbreakable shield at our borders," and paid tribute to sub-inspector Imtiaz, a BSF soldier from Bihar martyred on May 10. Modi also drew attention to Bihar's struggle against Naxalism. Recalling earlier conditions in Sasaram, Kaimur, and neighbouring districts, he said the people once lived in fear of armed militants. "Schools were burned, road workers killed, and no hospitals or mobile towers could reach remote villages," he said, noting that such forces had no regard for the Constitution framed by Babasaheb Ambedkar. Despite these obstacles, the PM credited CM Nitish Kumar's leadership for pushing forward with development. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now He said since 2014, the Centre had intensified efforts to root out Maoist violence, leading to a drastic reduction in affected areas from over 125 districts to just 18. "The day is not far when Maoist violence will be completely eradicated. Villages will see uninterrupted peace, security, education and growth," he said. Speaking of development, Modi said Bihar had moved on from the days of crumbling highways and outdated rail infrastructure. "There was a time when Patna had the state's only airport. Today, Darbhanga offers direct flights to Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru," he noted. He added that the long-standing demand to modernise Patna Airport had been met, with a new terminal now capable of handling one crore passengers annually. He also announced a Rs 1,400 crore investment in Bihta airport. Modi concluded by saying that peace and security are essential foundations for progress and under Nitish's leadership, Bihar had stepped firmly onto the path of prosperity.

Surya Kiran team paints Patna skies in tricolour, win hearts with heart formation
1 2 3 4 Patna: Amid the roar of jet engines and gasps of an enthused audience, the nine-aircraft Surya Kiran Aerobatics Team (SKAT) of Indian Air Force (IAF) painted the Patna skies in tricolour on Wednesday on the occasion of Shaurya Diwas , celebrated in honour of 1857 hero Babu Veer Kunwar Singh . After leaving trails of saffron, white and green on the skyline above JP Ganga Path, the aerobatics team also painted the skies with a huge "heart and cupid" formation, symbolising their respect for Veer Kunwar Singh — who defeated the British in 1857 at the age of 80 years — and love for the residents. The IAF's Akash Ganga skydiving team, however, did not perform on the day due to some technical glitches, said BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudi, who was present on the occasion. Each of the manoeuvres showcased by the highly-skilled aerobatics team received resounding applause from the excited audience comprising people from all age groups and sections of society. The team impressed the gathering with awe-inspiring formation sets, including most famous 360-degree movement display by the planes, sudden diving and moving in different directions, reassembling in one row from different directions, and the disciplined and perfect synchronisation of the jets for 'A' formation. It was a splendid moment when the SKAT jets left the tricolour trails behind up in the sky amid cheers of the audience and a patriotic fervour. And when the nine fighter jets formed the heart shape around the end of the air show, they truly won the hearts of the residents, many also witnessing the splendour from the rooftops of their building in nearby areas. Kanwal Jeet Sandhu from SKAT, who was doing a live commentary of the performances, explained the aerobatic displays and manoeuvrings of the fighter jets in easily comprehensible terms for the audience. She was soon joined by BJP MP Rudi. Wing Commander Arjun Patel, who is part of the SKAT, said the aerobatics team, unique in the world and only one of its kind in Asia, was known as the "ambassador of IAF". "The air shows were organised in various cities across the country in order to display the might of the IAF, and also encourage and motivate youngsters to join the armed forces," he said, expressing happiness on witnessing the huge over-joyed Patna crowd. "We were equally excited to perform in front of such an enthusiastic and appreciative gathering."
