Bride, 27, dead and child among the injured after group gunned down at wedding party in France
A 27-year-old bride was shot dead at her own wedding by a rampaging gang of gunmen in a horror attack - where one other also died and a child was injured. The best day of the newlyweds lives came to a tragic halt when the four masked men shot at the bride and groom as they were leaving the celebrations at around 4.30am today. The men were armed with 'several types of weapons', said Avignon public prosecutor Florence Galtier. The bride and groom, 25, were reportedly leaving their car when they were ambushed by the attackers, who arrived in a golf cart. In a desperate attempt to escape the attack, the groom reversed in his car and one of the gunmen was hit 'in return' and killed. A 13-year-old was in the couple's car and received serious injuries alongside the husband. The husband's sister was also hurt as police rushed to the Vaucluse venue, in Goult, in the south of France. Dozens of police and a helicopters have been mobilised to track down the three remaining gunmen who fled the scene. The terrifying incident might be linked to possible drug-related score-settling, according to a source close to the investigation. It is said a large-scale operation involving around 100 police has been launched to find those responsible for the shooting, which plunged the tiny picturesque village of Goult into shock. Local officials believe the attack was planned, and potentially gang-related, according to Le Figaro. The groom had a long history of criminal offences and his sister also had a violent offence on her record, said the French newspaper. The authorities have opened an investigation into murder and attempted murder by an organised gang. Goult Mayor Didier Perello said he was 'angry' and 'outraged' by the attack, adding he would not rule out any possible explanations. 'We're close to towns, I won't name them, where unfortunately, we've already seen this kind of thing before. 'The village hall had been rented for a wedding by people who don't live in the commune.' Guillaume Molinas, 50, said he feared that the tragedy would 'give the village a bad name.' 'The last major incident in the village was 125 years ago,' said the owner of a restaurant.

Armed men opened fire at a wedding party in southeastern France early Sunday, killing the bride and wounding three others, said a source close to the investigation. The attack in the village of Goult occurred around 4:30 am. According to initial information, the bride and groom were leaving the party when they were confronted by masked assailants who opened fire, the source close to the investigation added. The bride died and one of the attackers was killed, run over by the bride and groom's car as they tried to escape, the source said. A large-scale operation involving around 100 police has been launched to find those responsible for the shooting, according to the source. The three injured people were the groom, his sister and a 13-year-old child, according to Le Figaro. Officials did not say if the child was related to the couple, but a source close to the case told the Sun the 13-year-old was the newlyweds' son. Investigators are looking into whether the shooting had to do with a possible settling of scores. "I think it was targeted," the town's mayor, Didier Perello, told reporters, according to Le Figaro. Goult is located in southeast France, about 55 miles north of of Marseille, a port city that has been recently shaken by drug-related violence. In 2022, Goult had a population of just over 1,000 people.

2025 Sydney house price record broken twice in a week
The 2025 Sydney house price record has been broken twice in a week, with two sales totalling more than $110m. First came news yesterday via sources that the Point Piper mansion of Retail Apparel Group co-founder Stephen Liebowitz and his wife, Pam had sold for $55m, via Ray White Double Bay's Adam Reichman and Elliott Placks in conjunction with Michael Pallier of Sotheby's. The sale occurred last week but was being kept under wraps. And then, last night, an Instagram post from Ray White Double Bay's Riki Tawhara confirmed the sale of 38 Vaucluse Rd, Vaucluse, owned by 98-year-old philanthropist Isaac Wakil, that's sold 'above our guide of $55m'. MORE: Billionaire chicken heiresses record-breaking sale MORE Lowe heirs Point Piper mansion sells Whereas the first sale equalled the previous 2025 record $55m house price sale in February, of 12 Dumaresq Rd, Rose Bay, this latest deal exceeds that. The big sales must be exciting news for Ray White Double Bay principal, Elliott Placks, who had a hand in both deals, as he prepares to move into his new five-storey Double Bay HQ next month. Placks was tight-lipped about the buyers of both properties, citing NDAs, though it's known he had multiple buyers on both which helped create urgency. Still, the vendors had to accept considerable discounts on their previous price guides, with the Liebowitzs original guide of February, 2024, $65m. And although the most recent guide for the Vaucluse property may have been $55m, when it hit the market last month it was reported at 'around $70m'. The Dumaresq Rd, Rose Bay property that sold in February, owned by recycled shopping bag tycoon Frank Qiang Gengh and his wife Juanjuan Zhao, took a $20m price cut. Dyson Austen prestige property valuer Simon Feilich had a simple explanation for the recent rush of sales as the end of financial year approaches. 'The main driver is the low Aussie dollar and lower interest rates driving increased asset prices.' Isaac Wakil had owned the Vaucluse Rd 1400sqm property, with its house set for the demolition ball but with panoramic Sydney Harbour views, for 65 years. Isaac and his late wife Susan were both immigrants from Romania and Iraq and had no children. They owned a range of commercial properties across Sydney, including the Terminus Hotel in Pyrmont and the landmark Griffiths Tea building in Surry Hills.

Justin Hemmes appears in high spirits as he returns to his Sydney mansion while his pregnant partner Madeline Holtznagel hits her due date
Justin Hemmes was spotted looking very proud on Thursday as he arrived home, sparking rumours Madeline Holtznagel has welcomed their first child together. The billionaire pub baron, 52, touched down at his $100 million Vaucluse mansion via sea plane, with his heavily pregnant, long-term girlfriend, 28, nowhere in sight. With her due date imminent, Madeline hasn't been seen since the end of May, and has even manged to stay off social media - further adding to the baby speculation. Justin appeared to be in high spirits as he returned to his Sydney home this week, wearing a crisp white T-shirt and khaki slacks. He was forced to pull his trouser legs up as he waded through the water to get to his lavish house, which sits on the harbour. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. With his reading glasses and Bluetooth headphones in, the House of Merivale heir slicked his tresses back into a bun as he carried a large black bag. Meanwhile, his entourage were all smiles as they waited for the soon-to-be father-of-three to arrive. It comes after Madeline and Justin were spotted returning to the mansion at the end of May, with the model looking just days away from giving birth. Not wanting his heavily pregnant girlfriend to endanger herself and her precious cargo, Justin affectionately piggybacked his ladylove off his sea plane. The couple beamed broadly as Justin dutifully escorted Madeline to the shore, with Madeline wrapping her arms tightly around her beau's shoulders. The new mum recently admitted to Stellar she is thrilled to welcome a son because she wanted a 'new journey' with Justin, who already shares two daughters with ex-partner Kate Fowler. 'I always thought I was going to have a boy. I knew I was going to be a boy mum,' she said. 'Justin has two beautiful little girls, so having a boy, it's like a whole new journey together. [The baby] is going to be his little best mate.' He was forced to pull his trouser legs up as he waded through the water to get to his lavish house, which sits on the harbour She said up until now she kept details of her pregnancy private, but was ready to share her journey. 'I keep a lot of my life private and I don't share a lot online anyway, so [being pregnant] wasn't really something that I was going to share online,' she said. 'I haven't posted about it and it's been nice to have some quiet time off Instagram. 'But obviously because I am in the public eye and we do get photographed quite a lot, I think now I'm at this point in my pregnancy where it's nice for me to be able to share some nice photos'. Madeline also revealed she has sought advice from her older sisters Anna and fellow model Simone, who both have children. In November, an insider confirmed the exciting news of Madeline's pregnancy to Daily Mail Australia and revealed a friend of Justin's recently moved out of his Vaucluse mansion to make room for their growing family. Justin, who has a net worth of $1.39 billion, already has daughters Alexa and Saachi with his model ex-girlfriend Kate, from whom he separated in 2018. The business mogul then began dating Madeline the following year, when the model was 22 and he was 47.
