Egypt's media chief discusses translating Egyptian TV dramas into Urdu - Screens - Arts & Culture
Head of Egypt's National Media Authority (NMA), Ahmed Al-Meslemany, has proposed translating Egyptian television dramas into Urdu, Pakistan's official language.
Al-Meslemany discussed the initiative with Pakistan's ambassador to Egypt, Aamir Shouket, during the latter's visit to the Egyptian state Television broadcaster (Maspero) this week.
Ambassador Shaukat toured the Naguib Mahfouz Studio at Maspero, where the two sides discussed expanding bilateral media and broadcasting cooperation.
Al-Meslemany outlined the NMA's vision for translating selected Egyptian dramas into Urdu, which he noted is one of the world's most widely spoken languages.
Ambassador Shaukat welcomed the initiative and suggested that the Urdu-subtitled Egyptian series could be broadcast on Pakistan's national television channels.
