How covid tore Generation Z in two
Rachel Janfaza is the founder of Up and Up Strategies, a research and consulting firm focused on reaching Generation Z. I began covering youth political culture as a college student during President Donald Trump's first term. If you'd asked me then what broadly defined my own generation, based on my experience as a journalist immersed in campus culture, I would have immediately brought up our passion for activism, obsessive and (at times) toxic online culture, and an empathy-driven world view. Politically, we were considered the vanguard of a decades-long leftward swing among young voters, centered on issues such as climate, gun safety and equality.
