Cape Breton artist Elyse Aeryn feels ‘Unstoppable' following Music Nova Scotia win
Cape Breton musician Elyse Aeryn has released the song 'Unstoppable' ahead of her upcoming LP. A rising star from Cape Breton has been on the move lately, and her fans might even say she's 'Unstoppable.' Rock artist Elyse Aeryn, who hails from Glace Bay, N.S., first began her musical career in 2019. 'And I was away for a few years doing some different things with my life and about five years ago I decided to move back to Cape Breton and pursue my passion and here we are,' she told CTV Atlantic's Katie Kelly. Elyse was named Music Nova Scotia's Entertainer of the Year last year. She says she's still riding high from the excitement of the award. 'It was definitely a little bit surprising – one of the most rewarding and exciting moments of everything that's happened so far,' she says. Aeryn's debut album 'Joy State of Mind' was released in 2023 and she's now hard at work on its follow-up. She released her first single off the record last month. ''Unstoppable' is the first single from the new record called 'Everybody Loves You' and it's a really upbeat, feelgood song that I say has a double meaning. It's a love song, but it's a love song that you can sing to yourself,' she says. 'Everybody Loves You' will be released on Oct. 17. 'I've got two more singles coming out before then and there'll be another tour happening in the fall to celebrate the album release,' she says. 'I'm going to be at the Pictou County Lobster Carnival, we'll be in Moncton, Woodstock, New Brunswick, Shelburne, Nova Scotia, and Sydney, Cape Breton, of course a couple times this summer.' Aeryn performed at the Stone's Throw Patio in Halifax on Wednesday night. She will return to the city in the fall, hitting the stage at The Carleton on Sept. 25 and the Halifax Urban Folk Festival on Oct. 4. For more Nova Scotia news, visit our dedicated provincial page

Katherine Legge finishes 32nd in NASCAR Mexico City debut even after extreme heat melted her shoe
Image Source: Getty Katherine Legge's long-awaited NASCAR Cup Series debut in Mexico City went slightly askew when the extreme heat in her cockpit melted the sole of her racing shoe. Legge was running in the top 20 in her first NASCAR race at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez on Sunday when the unusual mishap occurred, forcing her to hit the brakes. She eventually finished 32nd, five laps behind the race winner. Extreme heat causes Katherine Legge's unusual pedal box malfunction During this race, the constant hammering heat in the 2.7-mile road course caused Legge's shoe sole to start melting and adhere to the throttle pedal. Radio transmissions between her and the pit crew showed how serious the problem was, with Legge saying her shoe was 'literally fused to the pedal.' — RedRacerBooks (@RedRacerBooks) Her team thought the lack of insulation around the pedal box deformed the rubber sole. The crew successfully helped her get the foot free at some point during the race, but she lost time and had compromised control of the car as a result. Katherine Legge's return to the Cup Series and future races It was Katherine Legge's second start of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series, the first being in Phoenix earlier this season, where she finished in 30th place. Having had a successful career in open wheel and a more recent venture into sports cars, the 44-year-old has had the backing of e.l.f., by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List DropLight, and Desnuda Tequila, among other brands, as she activates her NASCAR presence. She noted in a post-race statement that moving into NASCAR had not been easy, and it was 'one of the hardest championships to chase in the world.' Team owner BJ McLeod said the same thing, noting the massive undertaking of the Gen-7 stock cars. Looking ahead despite the setback While Legge was disappointed that she came in the 32nd position, she will continue her Cup Series as per the schedule. This includes races in Chicago, Sonoma, Watkins Glen, and Richmond, which will be tough tracks. Thanks to her resilience and a stout lineup of sponsors, Legge will continue to learn as much as possible from each race and refine her stock-car driving craft. A random glitch could have spoiled her weekend in Mexico City, but she seems determined to push to the absolute limit. It will be interesting to see how she develops into a contender in NASCAR's road course races as she accumulates more seat time.

Jennifer Lopez Sued for Copyright Infringement Over Photos on Instagram & X
Jennifer Lopez has recently been sued for copyright infringement for reportedly sharing two paparazzi photos. On January 4, the singer-actor made a stunning appearance at the Vanity Fair and Amazon MGM Studios Awards Season 2025. On January 5, took to Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) to post photographs from the glamorous red carpet at Chateau Marmont's Bar Marmont in Hollywood. Two of these stills were allegedly paparazzi images, co-owned by photographer Edwin Blanco and BackGrid USA, the photo agency. Their lawyer has reportedly claimed that the 'Unstoppable' actor used the photos on social media platforms without taking any permission. Photo agency BackGrid USA and photographer Edwin Blanco have reportedly hit Jennifer Lopez with a lawsuit. They are suing the singer for copyright infringement of two photos. These paparazzi stills were from the red carpet of the Vanity Fair and Amazon MGM Studios Celebrate Awards Season 2025. The photographer and the agency allegedly co-own the photographs, which posted on X and Instagram in January. As reported by Billboard, Peter Perkowski, a lawyer from BackGrid and Blanco, claimed that Jennifer Lopez used the two photos without permission to promote herself and her ensemble for the event. The attorney wrote, 'Ms. Lopez's unauthorized use of the Images is commercial in nature, intended for the purpose of self-promotion.' Perkowski continued, 'For example, Ms. Lopez used the images to spotlight the designer of her clothing and jewelry.' The lawyer added, 'leveraging the publicity from the event to promote her fashion affiliations and brand partnerships.' Per the lawsuits, a Blanco and BackGrid representative made contact with Jennifer Lopez's team regarding the reported copyright infringement. Per Billboard, attorney Peter Perkowski said the two teams had 'fruitful discussions.' They allegedly verbally agreed to a monetary settlement. However, reportedly refrained from signing a settlement agreement in writing. She has also allegedly yet to pay the promised amount.
