BJP govt evicting tribals from their land, denying their rights: Cong
Bhopal: In a joint press conference, LOP Umang Singhar, former Union Minister Arun Yadav, and Congress Working Committee member Kamleshwar Patel stated that tribals in the state are being denied their rights to water, forests, and land by the BJP govt. The Congress functionaries said that, in gross injustice, tribals are being evicted from their land and suppressed with false allegations. The Congress cautioned that if the rights of tribals are not enforced within 15 days, the party will start a mass movement against the BJP govt. Calling the policies of the govt anti-tribal, the three senior leaders said that the BJP has deviated from the issues of development and is now engaging only in the politics of religion. LOP Umang Singhar alleged that the govt is depriving tribals of their traditional rights. "The land leases of thousands of tribal families were cancelled without any prior notice. It is clear from this action of the govt that it wants to snatch the rights of the tribals to water, forest, and land," LOP Singhar said. He also mentioned that in Madhya Pradesh, only five leases were given in Jhabua district so far, which shows that the govt's intention is not to give the tribals their rights but to drive them out of their homes and forests. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Thị trường có dấu hiệu suy thoái không? Our identity is not with religion but with land and forest. The BJP RSS is going from village to village and dividing us because when BJP talks, it talks only about religion," Singhar alleged. "If the govt does not accept the tribals' demands for lease within 15 days, then a fierce movement will be launched. " Umang Singhar claimed that it was 17 years since the Forest Rights Act (2006) came into force, but the BJP govt has not yet given lakhs of tribal families their legal right to ownership of forest land. "More than eight lakh forest rights claims are still pending across the country. This shows that the govt failed miserably in the proper implementation of the Forest Rights Act 2006," Singhar said. He further argued that the Madhya Pradesh govt rejected more than 3 lakh claims out of 6.5 lakh forest rights claims made by tribals till 2024 without citing any clear reason. Quoting the Forest Rights Rules 2007, the LOP said that Rule 12A (6) states that it is mandatory for the govt to give reasons in writing for rejecting a claim. The Forest Rights Rules, 2007; Rule 12A says, "In the event of rejection or modification of a claim, the reasons for the same must be told in writing in the local language to the person concerned." The LOP alleged that due to the abundance of mineral wealth in the forests of Nepanagar, the govt wants to forcibly displace the tribals there, so that the way can be cleared for private companies. "The govt is falsely accusing the tribals of cutting the trees, while the truth is that they are protecting the forests and planting trees there. There are some other elements that are harming the forests, which the govt is ignoring," Singhar argued. Former Union Minister Arun Yadav said that the govt is removing tribals from the Nepanagar forests even though these tribals were engaged in forest protection. He accused that this is a trick of the govt because it wants to serve corporate interests by evicting the tribals from the forests. Giving the Mohan Yadav govt 15 days, the Congress leaders made it clear that if within this period the tribal society members do not get their rights back, then the Congress party will start a mass movement, and the fight for the rights of the tribals will be fought from the streets to the state assembly.

Congress begins internal cleanup in Madhya Pradesh to revive party structure
BHOPAL: Reeling from consecutive defeats in the 2023 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the Congress is preparing for a major internal shake-up in Madhya Pradesh. As part of its upcoming organisational overhaul, the party plans to identify and expel internal saboteurs, or Bhitarghatis, accused of covertly aiding the ruling BJP. The initiative will form a core part of the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan, to be launched by senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Bhopal on June 3. "An important aspect of the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan to be launched by Rahul Gandhi on June 3, will be to identify the Bhitarghatis (saboteurs) who have been damaging the party. Once identified till the development block level, such saboteurs will be shown the way out of the party,' said Leader of Opposition and former minister Umang Singhar. He further emphasized that the Congress high command is serious about cleaning house. 'Our leader Rahul Gandhi has already made it clear that all those who, while being in the Congress, have been working against the party need to be identified and ousted... Only those who are committed to the party will now be promoted,' Singhar added. The comments follow recent allegations from former Congress state vice president Damodar Yadav, who claimed that the BJP has cultivated sleeper cells within the Congress. According to Yadav, these elements played a significant role in the party's poor performance during the 2023 assembly elections. Rahul Gandhi will be in Bhopal on Tuesday to formally launch the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan in Madhya Pradesh—two months after its rollout in Gujarat, another BJP-ruled state. During his visit, Gandhi is expected to hold at least five strategic meetings with various party wings. 'He will hold meetings with members of the state party's Political Affairs Committee (PAC), current MLAs and former MPs, AICC and PCC delegates/members, the 50 leaders from other states appointed as observers for each district under the campaign, and also chair a meeting of the state executive,' a senior MP Congress leader told TNIE. As part of the campaign, 50 senior Congress leaders from states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Rajasthan have been appointed as central observers. Each will oversee organisational restructuring in one Madhya Pradesh district, working in coordination with 3–4 local observers. These teams will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the party's grassroots network, identifying both weaknesses and potential. Based on these findings, efforts will be made to rebuild the Congress organization from the primary worker level upward in each district and development block. The party has confirmed that the Abhiyan will be an ongoing effort. A pilot phase of the initiative is already underway in Vidisha district, a traditional BJP stronghold that includes assembly segments represented by Union Agriculture Minister and former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. In Vidisha, 100–150 specially trained Congress workers are living in villages, holding detailed discussions to understand local challenges and strategise revival efforts. The 15-day field exercise will culminate in a comprehensive report to be submitted to the party's state and central leadership. The Congress hopes that this grassroots-centred revamp, combined with a purge of disloyal elements, will help revive its fortunes in Madhya Pradesh ahead of future electoral battles.

Selling Army's valour for political mileage: Congress targets BJP over PM Modi's pic on railway tickets
The Congress on Monday alleged that using Prime Minister Narendra Modi's photo on Railways tickets featuring ' Operation Sindoor ' is like selling the valour of the Army as a product for political gains. Madhya Pradesh Leader of the Opposition, Umang Singhar, posted a ticket with Modi's picture on his X account. "Even the valour of the Army is being sold like a product for political gains. Here's a fresh example of how the Central government has become advertisement-dependent. Operation Sindoor is being used as a tool for the Prime Minister's promotion on railway tickets," he stated. "Until now, only BJP leaders from Madhya Pradesh were disrespecting the Army, but now even the Prime Minister has joined their ranks," he alleged. He was apparently referring to controversies surrounding two ministers from Madhya Pradesh over their remarks on Col Sophiya Qureshi and the armed forces. The BJP faced a barrage of criticism after state Tribal Affairs Minister Vijay Shah purportedly termed Colonel Quereshi, the face of media briefings on Operation Sindoor, a 'sister of terrorists', during his public speech. Live Events The controversial remarks not only invited wide-scale condemnation from various sections of society and the Opposition, but also led to the registration of an FIR against the minister on the orders of the High Court. Even before the political firestorm could die down, MP Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda said on Friday that Indian armed forces and all soldiers are 'natmastak' (bowing down with their heads at the feet) at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving a befitting reply to terrorists and Pakistan. He claimed his remarks were twisted. In further embarrassment to the BJP, its first-time MLA from Rewa district, Narendra Prajapati, has claimed that the UN had ordered India to "cease fire" with Pakistan.
